About Aithean Chyron

Aethian's mother, Ntaana, was a mercenary Ranger of Mwangi descent, hired by a Sargavan merchant to guard an expedition seeking to establish a new trading route in the fellow former Chelaxian colony of Varisia. The caravan was overwhelmed by Orc raiders from the Hold of Belkzen, who captured Ntaana and enslaved her for over a year. She learned the orcish language and studied them, watching for weaknesses and opportunities for escape. Although she ultimately succeeded, she was severely wounded in the process, and after several days on the run from pursuit she eventually collapsed, dying and in despair.

When Ntaana awoke, she discovered she had made it nearly to the doorstep of a Temple of Erastil in Nirmathas. The clergy there had tended her wounds, though her injuries would never heal enough to allow her to resume her former career. They also counseled and comforted her when she discovered the life in her womb. Ntaana came to believe that it was Erastil's will, and when she gave birth to twin daughters she learned to love them despite their mixed heritage. She taught Aethian and her sister Naethia everything she knew, including the cruelty of orcs and the horrors of slavery. When the young women reached adulthood they set out to do good in the world for their mother's honor and to satisfy their own cravings for adventure and glory.

Aithean, far more bestial in appearance than her more graceful sister Naethia, had more difficulties in reconciling her mixed heritage. She fell into work as a mercenary, and struck up a seemingly unlikely friendship with a Monk in her company, who was impressed by Aithean's natural aptitude for battle and intrigued by the contrast between her savage presence in the field and her reserved brooding off it. Through their conversations, Aithean came to realize that her body might be seen to be perfect as a weapon both humanoid and bestial, and her fighting style and outlook on life could also be shaped by that philosophy.

She declared herself to be a devotee of Irori not long after and sought training for a time from a Temple...but the monks she encountered there were not as accepting as her mercenary friend, and she left to seek her own fulfillment elsewhere. Her sister Naethia contacted her to tell her of the work she was doing with the Pathfinders, and Aithean resolved to join them as well, trusting Irori to guide her through the Society to further her quest for perfection.
