The Starfinder Character Operations Manual expands the universe of what is possible for characters of any class or race, providing new choices at every stage of character creation and advancement. Whether you are a veteran or new to the game, there's something there for you!

Now, retailers have their print copies, subscription PDF and print copies have been sent, and non-subscription PDFs are available for purchase. The new Starfinder Character Operations Manual has hit the streets. For your convenience (and because showing off my co-workers’ brillance is my favorite part of my work), I have bent time and space to gather the previews, with their vivid science-fantasy art, all in one place! #talentcrush

First, we introduced the new iconic characters in our Meet The Iconics series. Subsequently, in our Iconic Encounters web-based flash fiction series, we received a glimpse into the life and personality of each of them. Developer Jason Keely put Barsala, a.k.a. “Dr. B,” the new iconic biohacker centerstage. Then we saw Barsala test a hypothesis in The Scientific Method. Managing Director Amanda Hamon manifested Zemir, the iconic witchwarper. Later, she revealed more about Zemir in The Reality Next Door. Lead Designer Joe Pasini shown the spotlight on Velloro, the iconic vanguard. And then he showed Velloro in entropic action in A Hail Of Bullets.

In Starfinder Wednesday! on our OfficialPaizo Twitch channel, Social Media Producer Payton Smith got interactive with the new classes. Most of the Starfinder team, including Jason Keeley, Joe Pasini, Amanda Hamon, and Creative Director Rob McCreary, sat down together and—with the live assistance of chat— built a biohacker, a vanguard, and a witchwarper. All the Starfinder Wednesday! videos have been archived on YouTube for you to watch now, with one possible exception. This week’s episode showcased the New Roles Starship Combat, and it is currently available as Video on Demand on Twitch at the time of posting. If you have been lost in space, then it is on YouTube too!

In our final preview blog articles, we explored alternate ability score adjustments, racial traits, and new feats, gear, and class options that are available to everyone in Character Operations Manual Preview: Race Options by Jason “Jake” Tondro, Starfinder Developer. We previewed the new feats and class features in Classing Things Up With Starfinder's Newest Book by John Compton, Starfinder Senior Developer. And we introduced you to a new mode of play in System Of A Downtime by Joe Pasini.

Speaking of which, any estimates *when* we might get Society sanction for this? The last update of Additional Resources was just about 11 months ago.

Agreed, there are a bunch of options I'd really like to use on some characters.

Why release new material that isnt already sanctioned for organized play, that makes no sense.

Thanks for your enthusiasm for organized play. Our Organized Play Manager recently posted about the team's goals and challenges in the "Pulling Back the Curtain on Organized Play Outstanding Tasks" blog here. We have had a vacancy, but are in the process of hiring more staff and will work to catch up. Thanks for your support and patience.

Because organized play is even more concerned about balance than most games and has a few extra systems layered over everything to keep better track of characters. New material always needs to be vetted before being added to the list of sanctioned material.

FWIW we've heard in the forums/Discord that updates from Alien Archive 3 and the Dawn of Flame AP are coming to the Additional Resources page soon (as in, they're already finished, just going through A Series of Bureaucratic Tubes to get posted to the site.) The work on the COM stuff getting into Additional Resources is, as per above, going to take more time, and so is coming "Soon™."

I'm in the same boat here. I think Paizo did a superb job with this book.

The closest we have to a hint on that has the time scale in "months". Sorry to burst any hope bubbles <3

This is honestly the best Starfinder Book released so far. If it doesn't get into SFS largely intact, I'll actually cry.

While I love the book, the editing makes ME cry. There are a very large number of mistakes and poorly considered additions (look at my post in the rules section on Qi Adept as an example).

SFS attempts to keep a lid on some of the more ridiculous powers, and there are a lot of ridiculous powers in there. For example, the Melophile mystic connection basically replaces traditional Envoys.
