Plus, he can now go on a personal war of eliminating all his clones that are wandering around out there with different stats. More reason to hate his father...

Wow... I actually really like the idea of him having clones. That's pretty funny/interesting.

Er, and because I didn't say it in the last post, well done on the class. At first glance, it looks well-balanced and very representative of both sides of the coin. I was worried that it was going to invalidate playing a fighter or a wizard or a prestige class somewhere, but it looks unique and interesting. Nice job.

Yes! I like, I like.

I even like Seltyiel as the Iconic for the class. It actually makes sense. And for the old-school traditionalists, there's your half-elf fighter/mage in one class.

So, with that said, when and where do we start posting questions? Just on a first read-through, I do have one about the Critial Strike arcana.

It reads:
Critical Strike (Su): Whenever a magus with this magus arcana scores a critical hit with a melee weapon, he may cast a spell with a range of touch as a swift action, then make a touch attack against the target of the critical hit as a free action. The magus can use this ability once per day. The magus must be at least 12th level before selecting
this arcana.

So, does this give our Magus *three* hits on the poor victim? The original crit, the touch spell and one more? Or is the line referring to actually hitting with the touch spell?

+1

I don't think it steps on the Eldritch Knight either, since that PrC will allow more customization.

Oh, of course this is not going to stop the people from complaining that there is no good fighter/mage class in the game... because this one is not full BAB, full spell progression! Ha!

I'm disappointed that it isn't full BAB but otherwise it looks like a pretty good start. I'm hesitant to start posting feedback--is there a proper place to do so yet? Has a playtest forum been set up?

TBH it seems a bit weak. Spellstrike doesn't let you make an attack as part of casting the spell, therefore it either takes 2 rounds to do, or the use of the Spell Combat ability. Spell Combat, when you get it, makes you a)cast defensively to cast the spell--DC 15+2*Spell Level or 17 just to get a spell off, likely a 50/50 proposition b)take a -4 to your attack roll which, again, is a SIGNIFICANT penalty making this maneuver altogether unlikely to happen c)use a 1-handed weapon so you only get +Str to damage and not the best use out of Power Attack. Basically not really worth doing, unless the spell you're casting is True Strike :-/

The critical ability is great, and you get it earlier than an EK, but still uses a Swift action, preventing Arcane Strike from being used.

Oh, and actually gets to be an iconic "something" now besides just the 13th character for what was originally a 12 class game.

12th character in an 11 class game, you mean?

Something like that, yeah.

So the new iconic is just Seltyiel?
"Just Seltyiel" indeed. Pfff. How about finally Seltyiel. He's been our only homeless iconic for years now and making him the iconic magus is a prefect fit. Why reinvent the wheel when you've already got a giant, awesome wheel covered in spikes, absinthe, and lightning blots that you're not even really using?

Yeah, lightning blots are totally lame, but not as bad as ink blots...

Silver Crusade

The preview pic led me to believe that the Magus iconic would be holding his fist into the sky. The actual picture features this fist outstretched in an entirely different direction.

This is an outrage.

checkan the class out now!
