Gathered relevant notes from recruitment thread here:
Welcome to the ‘Verse. Arinolus, your creator-god has a need of your service. There are artifacts which must be gathered so that Arinolus may defeat his nemesis Sporaxus. These artifacts have been spread throughout the Realms of the ‘Verse. You must travel to these Realms, discover the location of the artifacts, and secure them from their guardians.
This is a campaign for 2-5 people willing to put the effort into creating and running some Epic beings.
Character Creation
All Stats start at 18. Borrowing slightly from 2E, four different Attribute Scores are boosted by 1 every 4 levels, for a total of seven sets of boosts, in place of any other Attribute progression systems. No ability may be raised higher than 50 by any means.
You must create a 30 RP custom monstrous race using the Advanced Race Guide.
Characters will be Gestalt level 30. If you wish to multiclass on either side of the Gestalt, you must take at least 10 levels in each class you have. Archetypes follow normal rules.
Because we will be using Jesse’s Epic Pathfinder Rules, these are the class options able to be used without additional work: Alchemist, Barbarian, Bard, Cavalier, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Gunslinger, Inquisitor, Magus, Monk, Oracle, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Summoner, Witch, Wizard. If you want to play something else, you’ll need to develop the class’s Epic structure and submit it along with the character. That said, I will allow other pathfinder and third party classes if you’re willing to put in that work for them.
We will use elephant in the room feat system.
We will use Background Skills. Additionally, the minimum Skill per level for all classes is raised to 6 + Int modifier. Classes that already have 6/level or higher add +3 skill points/level.
Characters get one feat per level instead of the usual progression, for a total of 30 (regular) feats plus bonus feats from races/classes/etc.
After 20th level, characters get 1 Epic feat per level, for a total of 10 Epic Feats.
Templates? No, although the specific epic magic items in Jesse’s guide that provide templates are allowed to be purchased and used to gain one template that way.
Starting Wealth: 8.5 Million gold
Characters are Mythic Tier 1 with two bonus Mythic Path Abilities: Interversal Traveller and Opponent Reading. Progression in the campaign will be handled through additional Mythic Tiers, not levels. Mythic Tiers will come with 1 Mythic Feat and one Mythic Path Ability each sprinkled with some bonus Mythic Path Abilities.
As a general rule, due to your Mythic power, Eidolons will function in any Realm for a character with an Eidolon- same with spell casters using magic in a Realm that generally doesn't have magic. That being said, in some Realms, Eidolons and Magic may work a bit differently, with those changes being told to you upon entering a new Realm, unless they are just regional changes within a Realm (like, for instance, the way magic can vary by plane within a D&D/Pathfinder Realm.)
This campaign will be goal-focused on collecting the artifact-components needed to destroy a rival god by travelling to different Realms within a Multiverse—these realms are only traversable via Interversal Portals, magic alone simply cannot travel from Realm to Realm, although it can be used to travel the different dimensions and worlds within a given Realm.
Interversal Traveller:
You are able to detect the location of Interversal Portals within a given Realm. Portals are fully blocked from any form of scrying or planar travel/teleportation in or out to a range of fifty miles. They allow travel from one Realm to another specifically connected point in another Realm.
Opponent Reading:
By a mere glance, you are able to tell the capabilities of all creatures you come across. This takes the form of stat blocks being presented at the beginning of encounters. This will allow you to give full descriptions of what happens when you attack, etc. Players will roll necessary saving throws, etc. of creatures they target to speed up gameplay and facilitate descriptive processes.
The setting is a homebrew multiverse which could include any setting as a Realm.
For backstory, it can be as much or as little as you want, but should include notes as to how you came into the service of Arinolus and what if anything you've done for him up to this point.
Feel free to link up backstories, if one person gets chosen and another doesn't for whatever reason, the unchosen could be doing something else, no need to retcon the connections.
That brings us to who exactly are Arinolus and Sporaxus....
Arinolus is a deity-level entity who is worshiped as the only god in several Realms of the 'Verse. Arinolus is a progenitor god, creating life in otherwise dead/lifeless Realms, granting sentience and free will, and generally just putting all of life in its infinite varieties under his cosmic microscope to see how things play out with different sets of physical/magical/spiritual laws. He has explored the 'Verse for time eternal, seeking new Realms to enliven.
Sporaxus is a whole other thing. Beyond even deity level of power, Sporaxus unmakes all things. Its Empty Flames simply render everything they touch non-existent, removing their potential future as well as their past and memory of them from reality. Sporaxus is able to destroy (almost) anything, even Deity-level entities, with its Empty Flames. When the Empty Flames unmake a whole Realm, the Realm and all of its inhabitants, materials, history and potential are no more an never can be again. The effects of this ripple through the 'Verse, causing Havoc Storms and birthing members of the Harbingers of the Empty Flame to appear in Realms where the Unmade Realm was once known or dreamt of. These nihilistic entities spent millennia gathering the necessary materials to perform rites which open their Realm's Interversal Portals for Sporaxus to unmake their Realms, a never-ending cycle of destruction.
Yet, there exists a prophesy of a "Star Messiah" who is to battle Sporaxus and its minions utilizing a number of hidden artifacts. The Before, creators of the Interversal Portals, seeded these artifacts throughout the 'Verse as a means of hiding and protecting them for their eventual use. These are the items you seek for Arinolus.
1: Arinolus. What is Arinolus’s alignment and favored weapon? I plan on having Arinolus as my character’s diety and the above do have a mechanical effect.
2: Would equivalent Epic Metapsionic Feats be allowed for Psionic Characters? For example, Enduring Spell would be Enduring Power, require Extend Power and raise the PP cost of a power under it’s effect by 12. Otherwise functions the same as Enduring Spell. Would that be correct?
3: How do Prestige classes progressing class abilities into Epic Levels work? Jesse’s Epic Pathfinder gives suggestions on making prestige classes epic, but not on if neither base or prestige class are epic but together they would progress a class ability to epic levels. This could easily be a case by case scenario.
3a: If Prestige Classes don’t progress class features to Epic Level, could we use epic feats (with GM review) to advance class features from a level 20 class we prestiged out of into epic levels?
4: Would you be opposed to the High Psionics Soulknives rule presented in Psionics Augmented: Soulknives? It essentially gives Soulknives a free archetype to give them manifesting up to 4th level powers (like a paladin or Ranger progression)
1 For purposes of alignment, consider Arinolus to be Neutral. His favored weapon is a bastard sword.
2 Yes, like that.
3 Most prestige classes only progress levels of specific parts of classes. If that class has epic progression for that class feature, progression through the prestige class will count for that feature but nothing else. If that class feature has no epic progression, the extra effective levels past 20 don't provide any benefit not already enumerated.
4 Looks ok to me
