you approach the old mansion the path leading up to it was once cobbled but is now over-grown with weeds and roots of surrounding trees.above it full moon hovers casting a pale light down over the mansion. The village that hired you to investigate the house is permeated with horrific stories of this place. but of cores they're just villagers and you are world seasoned adventures, wile some stories might be true this one Mansion couldn't contain all the horrors that they described. this mission should be simple find the kids lost in the house and return them to the village or at least there bodies. stepping up to the large oak doors at the entrance of the house the blowing of the chill wind almost sounds like the howling of the dead.


lets get this party started, role call!

Caerwen pulls his cloak up over his ears as the chill wind blows and looks around while flexing his claws, ready to get to exploring and searching for the kids.


Eris stands a few feet away from the group, assessing the sight of the manor with a determined look on her face.

Jaden Noname Catfoke paladin of Nethys says "shall we go?" and opens one of the large double doors. you enter a long entry hall, leading to a grand staircase 11ft ahead of you, across a dusty rotting floor. there are four doors on ether side of the hall two 10ft in front of you and another pair 20ft. surrounding you are three stone busts on marble pedestals, the figures they depict are twisted and disturbing to look upon. there is a four pedestal that stands empty.

Caerwen examines the missing pedestal. percep: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13


from what you can see there is a thick layer of dust over the pedestal, if there was once a bust here then it has been gone for a long time.


Eris checks the floor for traps and/or sturdiness leading up to the closest set of doors. Perception: 1d20+ 9> 13+ 9= 22


after a careful examination of the floor you estimate that wile the floor is old it is not immediately dangerous. also that there seem to be no traps between you and the two doors.


Jaden takes a step further into the house. "where should we begin our search?"


"Let's start down here and work our way up. Or down. Depending." Eris points to the door on the left. "Door 1 looks promising."

when in doubt go right. that way even if you get lost you might end up back where youre going, but before lets just have a look' jokar uses a charge from the wand of detect evil.


Round one: you know there is evil
Round two:you are mildly overwhelmed by the amount of input you are receiving. you have a hard time determining how many evil auras are in the house simply because there are so many and the aura of the house itself seems to be masking some.
round three: sorting through the cacophony of evil that is bombarding you, you discern that the closest evil aura to you is behind the door on your left.

"Alright so where is the strongest concentration of evil Jokar?"

" well i said when in doubt go right so of course the closet concentration is behind the door on the left, as far as the concentration icant tell you the whole house emenates it and its hiding some of it from the wand"


"As a paladin it is my duty to slay evil where ever i find it, but we also have a duty to find the missing villagers. so do we confront this evil head on or ignore it for now for the greater good of rescuing the innocent?"


Eris laughs. "Even if we save those we were hired to find now, without defeating the evil of this house our services will only be necessary again..."
Eris trails off with a smirk on her face. "To the right!"

"You mean left? And Jaden please be so kind to led the way."


Jaden looks at Caerwen then at Jokar, shrugs then goes to the door left. he draws his axes and places his hand on the nob. "everybody ready?"


"Go ahead, Jaden." Eris readies her falchion and steps to one side of the door.


Jaden opens the door and moves into the room.


the door opens up into what appears to be the dining room. there is a well crafted table in the middle of the room surrounded by four sturdy chairs. some chairs seem to have been moved or knocked over. the is currently table is empty.to Jadens immediate right is a grand father clock. beyond that, on the east wall, seems to be a painting of the human anatomy both inside and out. next to the painting is a door leading further into the house and next to the door seems to be china cabinet. on the far wall are windows, with more windows to Jadens left showing the path that you came from to get to the house. also on the west wall on the far side from jaden is an ornate fireplace.

Caerwen will wait till everyone else goes in and follow in behind, on alert for anything strange.


Eris walks in shortly after Jaden and stands to his left. Upon seeing the painting, she approaches it with fascination. "Glad to see something interesting in here. I'm surprised nothing jumped out at us when you first opened the door."


"Give it a few mins I'm sure you wont be disappointed"

" just because you can't see something doesn't mean it isn't there" I'm going check the walls for secret doors using stones sight to help me out. Don't have my character sheet up doing this on my phone.
But I rolled a 17


see as how the walls and floors in this part of the house are made of wood your stone sight wont help but after several minutes of walking around the room checking the walls and floors you determine that there are no secret doors in this room.


Elion Elian bursts through the door and says "I smell something fishy!"


Eris smiles proudly and raises her hand, "I might be the half-elf shoreborn you're referring to."


"Elion, where have you been? you're late."


"I apologize for my tardiness, but I had my knickers in a twist"

Caerwen smirked. "It's about time."


Eris gets a quick high five from Elion and makes her way over to the far wall to look out one of the windows at the side of the house. She periodically checks for traps and general sketchiness (perception= 16+ 9= 25).


jaden pulls out his wand of detect evil and uses it.

Caerwen idly looks around for anything suspicious.

perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9


Elion appreciates the chairs:
(perception = 3 + 9 = 12)


Walking across the room Eris and Caerwen notices what could be a dried bloody stain on the dining room table and as she looks out the window ,Eris, by the light of the full moon she can see a grave yard.

Jaden after a minute of concentration he visibly takes a step back from the table. "the table is radiating an evil aura." he says stay back from it."

Elion takes note of the fine craftsmanship of the chairs.


Elion wisks cocoa away and pulls out the bow


Cocoa takes flight and lands on the grandfather clock.

Cracks his knuckles and unsheathes his claws, getting ready to cast or claw anything that appears.


Hearing Jaden's warning, Eris comes closer to the table. "There's some type of graveyard on the side of the house over there. We should check it out at some point."
She leans over the table to get a better look at the blood stain. "Glad I wasn't ever invited to dinner here. Anyone have anything else they'd like to do in this cozy dining room?"


"What do we do about the table?"


"well it doesn't seem to be attacking us, but there is an evil spirit possessing it, a ghost perhaps."


"Only one way to find out. We have two options. Touch it or attack it. That is if we aren't going to ignore it and move on to find the kids. Preferences?"


"I propose I throw some holy water on it just to be sure"
