Kris has his shotgun, it's all he ever really needs. Since the group is heading to town, Kris grabs his hidden bankroll.

Because what he *really* needs is several bottles of hooch.

I'm up. I'm up. he says bleary eyed to the others, whomever is present.

Expecting trouble are we?

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

Saddling up Devil Eyes, Rufus comes over to the porch in time to hear the admonishment about keeping Ms. Abby safe.

I will do my best to ensure that no harm comes to her.

He tips his hat at her, as he heads back grabs his guns and rifle to give it a quick cleaning prior to them headed out.

Quickly responding to Kristophe
I always expect trouble, but I don't go looking for it.

He will grab a bite while cleaning both his pistols and rifle.

Rodan Thanks Rufus for the loan. "I hope that I won't needed it and that maybe I am just getting jumpy in my old age. But thems a lot of miles between here and town, then back again."

Next morning
Rodan feeds and waters Sandstone to be ready for the ride. Then he lashes the loaned rifle in place and places the extra shells in a pocket for easy reach.

Hearing a fuss he steps out of the barn to see Ms. Abby and Luke having a heated discussion.
"Morning Mam." Rodan says as he tips his hat as Abby storms past him. Rodan walks over to Luke to hear what he has to say.

"That is a bad idea that she goes. If something happens and they make a grab on her then they got Mr. Sutter by the short hairs. I am just saying.
But I guess she's a woman and to it would be easier to change the direction of the wind than change a woman's mind. So I will do my best to keep her safe."

So Rodan grabs the two rifles and heads back to the barn to find Ms. Abby.
"Ms. Abby, I just want to say that it's going to be real dangerous for you and Mr. Sutter if that Bayou fella grabs you. But I know there is no way from me to change your mind, so with that said. Which one meets your fancy?" Holding the rifles to Abby.

Lord Borak ambles up casually next to Kris. He takes out his full bottle of whiskey and takes a morning nip before offering the same to the man. He takes the bottle back with a knowing nod and meanders up to Luke.

Lord Borak talks low. Not loud. But nor does he whisper. Lord Borak does not hurry. And he does not skulk.

"She can be protected, or she can not be protected," he says matter-of-factly.

"What I need to hear you say, is that she should be protected...

"Hey Rodan, can I use one of those rifles?"

Bennies 2 Wounds 0 Parry 6 Toughness 8

Yeah. Uh. Sure. We protect the girl. All eyes. Sure thing uh, Lord Borak. Kris says somewhat nervously

GM

Luke Nods to Lord Borak "I think we have an understanding. You do what you need to do if those Bastards try for Ms.Abby. If they end up in the dirt, they end up in the dirt." A nods toward Roden heading toward Abby. "You best get, she get ornery when she is riled up"

Toward the Barn Roden nears abby and holds out the rifles. Abby Grabs the Winchester "Oh but the danger is why I have you big strong menfolk!" She says in such a way, you are not sure its a compliment and sawed off in hand she makes toward the wagon and looks at the rest of you "Well, you coming or not?"

He also rides loose in the saddle keeping an eye on things from behind the wagon.

Lets get this wagon rolling.

Male Human, Bennies 2 /3 Parry 4, Toughness 5, Wounds 0

Rodan laughs and looks at himself. "Mam, this old man is far to long in tooth to be described as that. I am just a simple trailhand."

Rodan hands the remaining rifle and ammo to Flying Eagle. "She's a might spirited ain't she?"
And climbs up on Sandstone. Once underway Rodan reins his horse into the position of front left flank of the lead horse of the wagon.
I assume it is a two or four horse drawn wagon.

GM

The wagon Abby mounts is the standard type with a team of two horses pulling it. There is room for another passenger or you can choose to ride your own mounts into town. The day is warm already, few clouds in the sky and the trip into town is uneventful.

Once in the town, Abby aims to wagon toward the General store. List in hand she starts toward the building "Some of you at lest be useful and help me load the wagon" She says as she walks into the store.

Male Human, Bennies 2 /3 Parry 4, Toughness 5, Wounds 0

After tying up at the hitching post. "Kris, Moses lets go in with her. The rest of you, if you can take care of the horses and keep an eye out. I will be back out shortly if someone else want to go in."
Rodan grabs his loaned rifle and walks into the store. He looks around wanting to purchase a box of 16 gauge shot shells, a box of .40 cal pistol shells, and a extra canteen. He also looks for a box of shells for the loaned rifle.

Bennies 2 Wounds 0 Parry 6 Toughness 8

Kris shrugs and follows Rodan. He goes to the storekeep and says Need a couple few bottles of whiskey

Male Human Toughness 5, Parry 5, Notice d4; Bennies 3; Wounds 0

Rufus dismounts, and starts checking over the horses for any damage or injury.

After that, he unscabbards his rifle, and then takes up a position holding up the wall near Devil Eyes and keeps an eye out.

Inside
Miss Abby Takes her list to the man behind the counter, a tall thin fella with a handle bar mustache and talks to him As Roden and Kris look around the store. Kris locates his Whiskey, not the best stuff but eh its $2 and its whisky.

Roden finds the canteen easy enough but will have to ask for the shells. When asked, the Man behind the counter fetches the shells from under the counter. He places the paper wrapped shells on the counter, 50 .40 cal shells and 20 16 gauge ones. "That'll be $6, can I help you with anything else?"

Lord Borak stands peaceably outside, which is different from his wont. He had considered taking possession of a street corner and haranguing the passersby, but he was still new to this town, and wanted a feel for its pulse before trying to build up a stable of followers.

For now he was content to grab a bit of shade and simply absorb the texture of the town and its goings-on.

Lord Borak had a dilemma.

Normally he would threaten these bully boys, and perhaps put such fear in them that they would start running and not stop until they'd covered three states.

But that would only start new rumors about him and he had had his fill of such.

Instead he takes a more passive approach.

"Oh no. It is men with guns," he says in a slow deadpan. "Oh me. Oh my. Whatever shall I do I am but an old man and I am quite frightened." He says his steady speech while mirroring the movement of the Phelps' man on the far right flank, moving to the side with the man.

"Oh help. Oh horrors," he says while slowly getting down on the ground. "Whatever shall we do in the face of all this violence?"

His running in terror and falling to the ground in helpless abandon looks an awful lot like moving to the side, dropping prone, and covering himself with his shield.

A few of the Men laugh at Lord Boraks antics, Phelps himself just shakes his head with disgust, hand near his gun."And here I though some of you boys might be a challenge. Been a while since I found a gunslinger worth the name." He looks at Flying Eagle "Fancy yourself a gunmen red man?"

The other men seems a bit eager and close to violence, but seem to be waiting on Phelp's play. Most seem to not be paying Lord Borak much heed, but keeping a sharp eye on the other's. Just ready to drawl iron.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside

Abby looks at Roden, seeming furious "I left my gun in the Wagon!" She turns to the clerk "You have any guns?" The clerk seems to back up away from the doorways and windows "Now, I don't want any trouble here!"

Kris, sees a backdoor and he might be able to sneak around the building, flanking the group outside. He is not sure, but maybe he can.

"I can hold my own. But my people prefer non-violent solutions. No one has to die here today. We get your message." As he says this, he moves so that the wagon is between him and the other men, providing cover. He reaches into the wagon to get his shield.

I'll use a Benny here to influence the story. Borak's antics are so funny that the bully boys forget to watch their rear ends.

Kris also left his shotgun in the wagon, he draws his long knife and moves to see what's going on.

GM

That is a good use Kris

Outside
---------------
Phelps smiles "I don't think the shield is gonna help you there Red Man' His men laugh and you just know he is going to drawl on you. He thinks he has you outnumbered, Lord Borak is on the ground acting a fool, flying Eagle is behind the wagon but still facing 8 men, Rufus too behind his barrel. None of them seem to see Kris closing from behind with his shot gun.

Rufus, Flying Eagle and Lord Borak are outside. #0 feet from the Gunmen. I'll Count the wagon as 1/4th cover and the Barrel as 1/2. The wagon is bigger, but its man cover kinda floats off the ground just really protecting your middle. I will give both a +2 bonus for hardness. Kris is 20 feet behind them, he can choose left or right side.

Inside
-------------

Abby is arguing with the clerk over getting a gun of some type as Roden sees the trouble brewing outside. Those men want blood and he know it. He could shot from the door, or the glass store window, clerk would hate that he reckons. Or he could walk out side. He is not sure where the Hell Kris went.

From the dirt in front of the closest gunman a small mound appears. Like an anthill growing spontaneously from the ground. Then the mound grows bigger, like a lost ball being rejected from the Earth.

Then it grows bigger still, now as to a termite mound maturing upwards at incredible speeds. Now it keeps going, up and up. As it takes on more height sand pours off of its flanks and details can be seen. Arms on the side, a narrow waist, a fine trim back. At last it reaches the height of a man and it looks like a mythical Viking made of stone and dirt. It carries a dirt axe and wields a stone shield. The head is without helmet and the face lacks detail, it's smooth expression conveying no emotion, which itself makes a watcher uneasy.

Then the eyes open and, fast as lighting, it attacks!
