An active cell of the cult of Lissala—ancient goddess of runes and obedience—has been discovered in the Varisian town of Palin's Cove. Seeking a chance to learn about this long-lost faith not from millennia-old relics but from its current practice, a team of Pathfinders travels to the industrial seaside settlement to uncover the secret coven and infiltrate its services in the guise of prospective converts. Will the Pathfinders discover the knowledge they seek, or will the evil cult subvert them with its vile and seductive faith?

After several weeks of downtime including many dinners and formal events giving you accolades for your work in North Eastern Varisia, Venture Captain Sheila Heidmarch's mission summons brings you back to her Magnimarian manor house.

You have a +1 to diplomacy while in Magnimar, or the area around Turtleback Ferry. You can also use Fort Rannick as a base of operation anytime you wish.

After a delicious meal the servants clear the dishes and the room is sealed leaving you alone with Lady Heidmarch.

”Firstly, I want to thank you again for your excelly job reclaiming Fort Rannick and removing the largest Ogre clan in the area. I have reports that the Rangers have been reinforced and they are chasing the roaming, leaderless Kreegs off the Hook. I understand you are ready to get back out in the field.”

" Loyal Pathfinders," the deep -voiced Venture Captain Sheila Heidmarch says from the end of the long dining table, "our colleagues in Absalom are putting pressure on me to find out
more about the forgotten goddess Lissala and her worshipers. We have searched catacombs and libraries for artifacts and accounts of the faith for centuries, but now that we know the
cult is still active here in Varisia , this has become a priority for the Ten.”

" One of my agents claimed she had uncovered an active cult of Lissala practicing their rites in Palin's Cove, a few days ride from Korvosa. If she's correct, this would be an unusual opportunity for us - we could study the Goddess and her faith first hand instead of legends hidden in the dust of a crumbling empire.”

”Find this cult and get to the center of its inner workings. Brute force might get you in the door, but we won’t learn much from a bunch of dead cultists, so infiltrate it if you can. Learn what secrets you can, and get out safely to report your findings to me. I want to learn how Lasalla’s faith has survived 10 millenia undetected and what foul plan they’re concocting that has precipitated their resurgence all of the sudden.”

”I have a man in Palin’s Cove by the name of Gerhart Aidrim. He has arranged lodging and cover identities for you if you need them. Aldrim will expect you at the Baited Hook within the week and can answer any questions you might have about the mission. Oh, and one last thing: The agent who uncovered the cult has not reported back in some time. So do be careful. Losing one Pathfinder is misfortune, losing an entire team would seem like carelessness.”

”It seems fortunate that you recently discovered a shine to the evil Goddess in the Kreeg’s caves and have experience infiltrating cults already. Go, and please don’t get yourselves killed.”
