Four crusades have come and gone without appreciable gain for the forces of good. In fact, the long slow grind on the front lines has gone against humanity, and despair is rampant amongst the crusaders. There does not seem to be any end to the armies of the Abyss, and only the Wardstones keep a semblance of a front on the borders.
