Mass Effect: Torchbearers (Inactive)

Game Master UltraFennec

A Mass Effect universe game set in the two-year interim between ME1 and ME2, with potential to go further. Using a homebrewed conversion of Star Wars SAGA Edition ruleset.

NOTE: This campaign will contain "Adult Themes," ie- gore, violence, sex, uncomfortable moral issues, politics, the whole nine yards. I'm not going to hold myself back to the relatively mild "M" rating of the video games. You want Mass Effect? You're getting it in all its weird, wonderful, and horrid glory.

NOTE THE SECOND: As regards note 1 above, I'm looking for mature roleplayers able to handle things both inside and outside their comfort zones. While there will be plenty of "game" going on, between and even within missions I expect players to "role-play" more than the standard DnD type banter.

Please create some people with hopes, dreams, aspirations, desires, fantasies, and impossible goals.

Please create some people with bad habits, psychological tics, issues, prejudices, ignorance, and dark thoughts.

Please create some living characters so that we can have a game with depth and not just shooting things.

KTHXBAI. X3

DISCLAIMER: As the rules running this game are a homebrewed conversion from an established system, and I am definitely NOT the greatest game mechanics guru around, the rules may be in flux somewhat as I and the group chosen for play figure out where correct balance lies for our game. Thank you for your understanding, and patience.

The year is 2183. Earth-date: November 15.

Commander Shepard, savior of the Citadel, the first human Spectre, warrior who defeated Saren Arterius and Sovereign, is dead, spaced in an attack that destroyed the Normandy SR-1 and left no trace of the attackers' identity.

During this difficult time of reconstruction, some have been inspired by the Commander's example. Equal parts humility and hardline, diplomacy and violence. Kraulik Raedesx is one such Turian. An old warrior with connections just about everywhere, Kraulik's been given the go-ahead by the Council to engage in an unorthodox training program of his own design to replenish the depleted ranks of Citadel agents.

You're the group he's chosen to be guinea pigs, prototypes for the program if you will.

Welcome to the newly instated Special Hardline Action Determinance program. SHADE for short. Yes, it's a stupid name, but that's what happens when politicians get to name their programs.

We'll be throwing you into some of the worst places and warzones the galaxy has to offer. You survive this, you come out a Spectre. You don't survive...well, that's kind of bad enough on its own, isn't it?

Character Creation
You'll all be making 1st level characters based on the conversion statistics available in the linked Google Document. If something isn't mentioned in that document, assume it hasn't changed from SWSE base.

Ability scores will be generated in the standard "Planned Generation" manner, meaning all scores start at 8, and you have 25 points to buy scores with.

A few Fluff notes:

-Although I won't enforce it as a rule, note that in-universe there are very few female Salarians for one reason or another, and this is acknowledged by people in-universe. It's unlikely any of them would be let into combat situations, but again, I'm not gonna enforce that one.

-Similarly, if you wanna play a female Krogran, go right ahead, but note that you'll be infertile, period, as the fertile females aren't let off Tuchanka for any reason.
