DR doesn’t do much against that!
Grergof calls down divine aid against the creature and smashes at it.
Dawnbringer…. Ouch…. Help!
Declare this my smite target so AC 32 against it, and ignore all DR - Hopefully this is evil. not that the AC will matter much.
Then Grergof opens up with his flail.

Foxy Quickpaw |

The monster has 60ft reach. That means you still have to get there. And it is neither evil, nor undead. You could delay, and Abomentolor dimdoors you into position and I take the rolls you made. Or you charge and it is only the first. Or something completely different, as you don't want to go close?

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Doh, that changes things…. i thought it moved up in my reach. So in that case, Grergof would have had to cast Grace instead of smite and charged up there…. (Both are swift actions so can only do grace). That would have been one attack without smite so using that first roll a 37 to hit and 42 damage only. and my AC is 29 this round due to charge. This thing is going to tear me to shreds but Grergof doesn’t know that.

I just attacked something that was not evil…. It did attack us, but I worry maybe I am getting too free with my flail…
Grergof looks at his flail thoughtfully as he walks slowly back over to the rest of his companions.

Abomentolor Goblinburner |

"Well, evil is reserved for sentient creatures. For the others it's just eat and being eaten. I'd rather not become worm poop, so thank you for taking down that not evil creature."

Foxy Quickpaw |

The room behind the broken doors is ransacked. (E8) Two stone pillars support the low ceiling of this vault. There are no other furnishings in the chamber, and the room’s walls are lined with empty niches. An immense and broken scorpion-shaped statue made of bones lies in the middle of the room. Obviously a guardian like at the entrance the group took into this dungeon.
This room has no surprises even on closer inspection. But there is a hum coming from one of the other rooms. (E5)

Foxy Quickpaw |

No more level drain. All level 15 again.
Spugnoir opens the neighboring door. (E9) A wide flight of stairs leads up to a large hall. Four black stone pillars support the thirty-foot-high arched ceiling above, while a pale green curtain hangs to the west. Two large faces are carved into the walls to the north and south—the north face grins and the south face scowls. Each face’s mouth is agape, allowing access to a small alcove beyond.
The throne at the far end of the room has a gem encrusted skull sitting on it. A black horned mask sits on the left armrest. A deep purple rod leans against the chair back.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Grergof starts detecting evil at the entrance to the room.
Looks like a Lich’s home. Can anyone tell if there is magic before we venture in?

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Any suggestions here? Charging in may just set off traps.
Oh and the aura of spiritual darkness clings to the skull like few other things I have seen.

Abomentolor Goblinburner |

"Where do you expect the traps? I could wall up those areas." Abomentolor suggests. "Otherwise, I don't think the shard is here. We could simply close the door again."

Brother Grergof Varsk |

(E4) The walls of this room arch up like massive ribs to form a corrugated ceiling. Between each rib stands an upright sarcophagus—all of them have been pried open to allow the contents to spill out onto the dusty floor. The bones appear to have been gnawed and cracked open.
Leaning on the last coffin you find a creature gnawing on the remains of the occupant of this coffin. Whith hooves, and a toothy snout the creature looks half humanoid, half beast. It interrupts it's meal. "Hello guys. What's up?"
(Picture in maps)

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Looks like you dinner is up…. Have you been in this area long?

Foxy Quickpaw |

"Ah yes, a blue dragon?" The guy replies. "That dragon went through the misty portal."
"She performed some ritual to activate the portal. She used some sort of dust from that room with the humming after she spent about an hour in that room over there" (E6).
"When the dragon was gone, through the portal, a sparkly skull floating on a dust ghost moved through the central room, went also to that room over there, then returned with a large crystal clutched in its jaws before it returned to where it came from."

Brother Grergof Varsk |

A Dust Ghost?

Foxy Quickpaw |

(E6) This relatively plain room has but one feature—an ovoid, six-foot-long tan stone that floats two feet in the air above a three-foot-high riser. The side of the strange tan stone features a faceted gap, as if some sort of key could nestle within.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

I’m guessing that gap is where the crystal came from….
We are ridiculously bad at anything knowledge.
