A Tale of Westcrown

Darkness

It frames the days, cloaks the nights, hides predator and prey alike. Some fear it, some welcome it. But in the ancient city of Westcrown, once-flourishing capitol of the Chelaxian Empire and planned home of a god, fear flows like the long shadows across the dark pavement as the sun descends. Night is the domain of the shadowbeasts - horrid creatures of blackness and claws and fangs. Those who dare the night are often found in pieces the next dawn, if they are found at all. Only the islands of light at major intersections, where town guard make a wary stand with bright swords and even brighter torches, and the bars and shutters of sturdy houses provide any safety. Citizens who wake from sleep in their own beds may hear the scratching of claws on their shutters as something climbs their outside wall, though they are on the second or third floor. Even the Hellknights do not brave the dark. Of course, there is no need for them to keep order at night. The shadows do it for them.

Character Creation:

  • Paizo classes, archetypes, and prestige classes allowed. Refer to the PRD or d20pfsrd. No third party products, please.
  • Build your character at first level with a 20 point buy, 3/4 hit points (full at first level, 3/4 from there).
  • Your character will receive two traits. One can be selected (as appropriate for your character) from Paizo products. The other will be determined jointly with me, deriving naturally from your backstory. PRD traits Full trait list
  • Your backstory must tie you tightly to Westcrown. This is imperative. Whether you want to save the city for the Empire, the citizens, or for your own greedy self, you must want to save Westcrown from the troubles which beset it. Be from the highest nobility or the lowest slave stock, there's a place in this adventure for you.
  • If you are a citizen of Westcrown, I will provide lodging and accoutrements for your character appropriate to your station. Use the starting gold to equip yourself for adventuring. Don't worry much about day-to-day expenses. Because I'm nice that way. {evil GM laugh}
  • If you manage to make a convincing backstory without being a citizen (it's doable), we'll have to figure lodging and such.

Recommendation: This isn't hard and fast, but check out Myth-Weavers. It's a cool site to build and store your character sheets. I used it to build my paladin, Leandro and the link to Leandro's Myth Weaver sheet is embedded in his name, just above his stat block.
