Character History
Taiken has always believed that only the strong deserve anything. If any can defeat him in battle, he will gladly name them as worthy of his respect. There are two things that enrage him above all other things: Harm to the young, and leaders who prove themselves to be weak.
In his tribe of Qadiran blue kobolds, he had the honor of personally declaring the next chieftain, and was wholeheartedly devoted to his given task: defending the hatchery from all comers.
One day, an ogre entered the hatchery, ignored by the rest of the tribe, and began taking eggs. Taiken surprised the giant, and with a spear at its throat, threatened the creature that was so brazen as to walk in without a fight.
A few minutes later, Taiken threw the ogre's head (as well as several of its internal organs) into the chieftain's hut and demanded to know why it said that it had the chieftain's permission. The chieftain explained that in exchange for five eggs every month, the ogre's family would not raze the village.
The enraged monk named the chieftain a traitor, a coward and one unfit to rule. He charged at the chieftain, only to be bound by his servants and imprisoned.
They spent hours pouring acid over Taiken and whipped his softened scales. After they were done, the chieftain's enforcers chained the monk to a rock, poured acid over him one more time, and left him to be killed by the ogres.
Taiken broke the corroded chains, and ran. Before leaving, he swore vengeance on the chieftain who betrayed him, and vowed to return one day, kill the traitor and name the next leader. He continues to wear his manacles, to remind him of his oath of vengeance.
