These high-soled blue boots provide a great deal of comfort and arch support while also making the wearer appear a little bit taller than normal. The boot's wearer always takes the minimum possible damage from falls (as if the GM had rolled a 1 on each die of damage incurred by the fall) and at the end of a fall always lands on his feet.

First Aid Gloves:
These fingerless gloves of white cloth have a sapphire decorating the base of each exposed finger, numbering 10 in all.

The wearer of a pair of first aid gloves can, as a standard action, cast any of the following spells (caster level 9th), permanently expending a number of sapphires equal to the spell's level (as denoted in parentheses after each spell): breath of life (5), cure critical wounds (4), cure light wounds (1), cure moderate wounds (2), cure serious wounds (3), and mass cure light wounds (5).

When casting a spell from the gloves, the wearer can't expend sapphires on different hands, thus only a full hand's worth of gems can be used to cast breath of life or mass cure light wounds. Regardless, both gloves must be worn to function.

Once all of the sapphires are expended, a pair of first aid gloves becomes non-magical.

Background:

When Nikolay discovered some skill with sword and spell as a teenager, he joined a caravan thinking to explore the world. The adventure lasted just a few months until the caravan was ambushed. Nikolay was one of the few survivors and the others credited him with their survival. Upon returning to Korvosa, the young man was sponsored to attend both the acadamae and train with the guard. Field Marshal Cressida Kroft praised his actions and said he was an example of the real world experience needed in the guard.

The next couple years were a dream for Nikolay who had come from a poor family and never thought much beyond the next meal. He trained hard, splitting his days between the acadamae and the barracks and nothing else. He eventually joined the guard in its patrols, but this adventure was cut short, too. Nikolay loved the work, but was dismayed by the state of things. His family had been poor when he was growing up, but now he saw what happened to those who had no money at all. The children, forced to petty crimes and worse, especially bothered him and he began to investigate the notorious Gaedren Lamm.

A few weeks later, a fellow guard, Victor Putnik, was found dead by the docks. Nikolay had never even met the man, but a fisherman came forward and accused Nikolay of the crime. A watch belonging to the guard was found in Nikolay's room and soon Nikolay found himself a few short weeks from the gallows. Then a strange thing happened. The fisherman visited him in prison. He only said he was sorry and would make things right.

A few hours later, the fisherman lay dead outside the Field Marshall's door. The guards said he was acting crazy and demanding to see the person in charge. They stated he pulled out a knife and that's why they sliced him like a fish for the market.

Without the fisherman as a witness and especially given his crazy actions at the end, Nikolay was set free. However, enough suspicion remained that the guard would accept him back. His career plans demolished, Nikolay also dropped out of the acadamae to pursue his own agenda.

Rumors abound about about what Nikolay does for a living now. Some say he has become a simple vigilante like Blackjack. Some believe he makes a living as enforcerer for the thieve's guild. Others even suspect him of working for the Field Marshall completing tasks that would be unacceptable for the regular guard or even worse.

Antitoxin This substance counteracts a specific toxin. If you drink a vial of antitoxin, you gain a +5 alchemical bonus on Fortitude saving throws against poison for 1 hour.

Alchemical Power Component
Like antiplague, this substance can augment certain healing spells.

These high-soled blue boots provide a great deal of comfort and arch support while also making the wearer appear a little bit taller than normal. The boot's wearer always takes the minimum possible damage from falls (as if the GM had rolled a 1 on each die of damage incurred by the fall) and at the end of a fall always lands on his feet.

First Aid Gloves:
These fingerless gloves of white cloth have a sapphire decorating the base of each exposed finger, numbering 10 in all.

The wearer of a pair of first aid gloves can, as a standard action, cast any of the following spells (caster level 9th), permanently expending a number of sapphires equal to the spell's level (as denoted in parentheses after each spell): breath of life (5), cure critical wounds (4), cure light wounds (1), cure moderate wounds (2), cure serious wounds (3), and mass cure light wounds (5).

When casting a spell from the gloves, the wearer can't expend sapphires on different hands, thus only a full hand's worth of gems can be used to cast breath of life or mass cure light wounds. Regardless, both gloves must be worn to function.

Once all of the sapphires are expended, a pair of first aid gloves becomes non-magical.
