Background:

Gorgutz Lanwell was once an abandoned baby found in the woods by a priest of Erastil named Father Elijiah Lanwell outside the small village of Fleweigh. Father Lanwell took a liking to the child and decided to adopt the half-orc. The priest of Erastil decided to name him Gorgutz because despite being abandoned he wanted the child to embrace his orc half even though most people despise orcs. Growing up, Gorgutz was often belittled by insulting remarks by his peers, mainly due to their insecurites and fears about a half-orc. Nevertheless, Gorgutz, after many of years of struggling, obtained the respect of his peers through both his benelovent demeanor and academic prowess. After ten years of school in the village, by this time 16 years old, Gorgutz decided that he wanted to become a employee of his father's church. Gorgutz didn't necessarily follow in the footsteps of his father, but he followed the tenets of the faith of Erastil. The work he performed for the church was providing food and other services to his community. He would often take extremly long hunting trips, one such trip took 2 months before returning, in order to provide food to the community. Gorgutz loved these hunting trips because it gave him experience in the field with types of animals. Over time he acquired an uncanny ability to empathize with various animal behaviors. Gorgutz also developed keen tracking skills through much of his exploits of the wilderness.Gorgutz was at peace whenever he journeyed into the vast frontier of the forest. That sense of peace would disappear very soon.

After returning with a giant boar from one of his regular hunting adventures, Gorgutz had seen his beloved village change drasticly. The humble village had begun to transform into a more industrious setting. The town had cut down many of the trees surrounding the area, replacing the sublte beauty of the wild with copious amounts of markets. Blacksmiths were polluted the air with its wretched smoke, which caused all wildlife in the area to flee from the village. Gorgutz attention, however, was more focused on a new church erecting its structure in the middle of the once humble village. Gorgutz had a feeling foul play was present in this new development and was determined to get to the heart of the issue immediately. Fortunately, the tiny church was still conducting its services, with his father still preaching the lessons of Erastil. Gorgutz immediately asked his father what was going on with the village he had grown up in. Father Lanwell responded that the village was overtaken when a religious sect sent an army to the village, after the people of the village refused to give up the land. This injustice greatly irritated Gorgutz because he believed that the strong should never threaten the meek. Gorgutz knew that before commiting to any act of rebellion, he first needed to investigate the leaders of the other party.

It had been three months of ardous detective work and still Gorgutz couldn't find what these leaders wanted to do with the land besides desercrate it with its vile stench of black fumes. Gorgutz decided if he couldn't get any results during the day time, that night operations were going to be utilized. That very night he conducted a reconnaisance mission from the top of the tallest tree where he couldn't be detected. After several hours of being vigilant, he noticed red smoke coming out of the chimney of the newly built church. The cumbersome half-orc also noticed that cloaked figures were heading towards the church while chanting in a language unrecognizable to him. Gorgutz followed the mysterious cloaked figures into the church without being detected, stealthly bypassing the guards patroling the gargantuan church. Once inside the church, he climbed up onto the balcony to listen for anything suspicous. While in cover, he discovered the truth to their intentions, which horrified the humble half-orc. The cloaked figures intended to establish a base of operations for the disciples of the goddess Lamasthu. Gorgutz knew of the consequences that would come about if he didn't stop this from happening. These cultists would go to small villages like his all over the world until they gained enough followers to usurp major cities.

The following day, he reported his findings to his father. Father Lanwell was appalled to hear such a thing and decided that Gorgutz was to secretly going to have to gather villagers in order to overthrow the abombinations that had taken over the beloved land. Gorgutz immediately set out to do so. After three difficult months, he gathered 100 villagers to train in guerrila tactics knowing that they were severely outnumbered. Gorgutz decided that he personally, along with four other brave villagers, needed to get inside the church while the attacks distracted the majority of the army. The young half-orc's intention was to burn the building from the inside so that the structure would no longer have influence over the many converts they had obtained over the time.

On the day of the attack, Gorgutz prayed to Erastil for strength to overcome the overwhelming odds stacked against him and his followers. It wasn't too long after finishing his pray that Gorgutz noticed a shiny axe in the middle of the forest. Gorgutz realized that his prayer was answered because upon further inspection of it, he noticed that the blade was made of adamantine, a material that Erathis wouldn't neccessarily like. Gorgutz knew that this battle was going to be serious, if such a drastic measure had to be done by the almighty Erastil.

Two hours later, the coordinated effort began against the abomination of the cult of Lamasthu. The guards, like planned alerted the army, and the guards themselves pursued the first force. Once the army was mobilized, the second force of the guerillas attacked. Once again as planned, the army chased after the second force. However, Gorgutz was cunning, and had a third force attack the rear of the troops, splitting the force in half while the rear of the army chased the third guerilla force. Gorgutz intention was to cause panic and disarray within the ranks and to make sure no guerilla force was overwhelmed by sheer numbers when the army of Lamasthu caught up with them. It was at this time, the task force infiltrated the church. Upon entering the church, Gorgutz witnessed cultists sacrificing themselves so that a horde of monsters could rise up from the floor. Twenty different monsters arose from the blighted floor, amongst one them stood a gnoll towering about 12 feet tall. Gorgutz ordered the others to take care of the minions, while combated the colossal gnoll. Gorgutz used all the guile and cunning he could muster during the fight, but was thrown off guard when he witnessed one of his comrades fall in battle. Before he could take in what he witnessed, the gnoll swung his club into the abdomen of the startled youngling casing him to smash into the wall. Gorgutz's strength began to fade and he started to close his eyes. It was right before giving up on struggling any further, that Gorgutz had a series of flashbacks. In these flashbacks, he recounted the the times he spent with his father, the laughs he shared with the various villagers, the people he consoled when they were mourning their loved ones, and even his first kiss from the female half-elf during one of his hunting trips. With newfound determination, he let out the fiercest roar he ever had in his life. Gorgutz charged towards the beastly gnoll with tears coming down his face, determined to take the beasts life for the sake of the future of his fellow citizens. With unparrelled agility, Gorgutz dodged all the gnolls attacks and even managed to climb on the back of the monster. The awakened ferocity of Gorgutz was too much to bear for the gnoll to withstand and soon the half-orc split the skull of the monstrosity in two, right down to the throat. The other monsters witnessed this and soon fled back into the opening in which they came from. Gorgutz soon passed out.

After four days of unconsciousness, Gorgutz finally woke up to witness all of the villagers relieved and full of tears. They eagerly awaited for this moment, their champion, in order to pay their respects. Father Lanwell decided to hold a banquet in his son's honor. Gorgutz was overwhelmed with joy because he finally obtained all the villagers respect. He soon became withdrawn, however, due to the fact he had one last lingering question to ask his father that would put Gorgutz on the path of something he never imagined doing.

At the banquet, Gorgutz asked to talk to his father in private. Father Lanwell agreed, but was a little concerned. Getting to the point, Gorgutz asked his father for his blessing to leave the village in order to pursue the path of Inquistor. the half-orc claimed he knew of such a occupation from one of the many books he read while in school. Father Lanwell was reluctant, but ultimately gave his blessing because he understood the reason behind it. He allowed this on two conditions: Gorgutz must return home to visit once per year for a week and that he record his findings and publish them so Father Lanwell could track the happenings of the world around him. Father Lanwell gave him the money for tuition for the school and sent him off knowing that Gorgutz would do him proud. That week Gorgutz went off to pursue his new goal in the city of Coran.

Gorgutz enrolled immediately in the Inquistor school upon arrival in Coran. The half-orc was frowned upon by his peers because of his race. They thought he had no business being there. Once again he proved others wrong by outperforming his peers academically. During his duration, Gorgutz developed an affinity for alchemy and alchemic knowledge. He became enamored with the intricasies of this science, going so far as to become a part time alchemist in his spare time. He was no master at the craft, but was willing to learn more as time progressed. Though academically proficient as a inquistor, Gorgutz's instructors were critical of him because he lacked the typical trait other inquistors had of paranoia. They claimed he was naive and too trusting in dealing with other people. Gorgutz embraced this aspect that they criticized because he believed that if he could sense their motives immediately were hostile, he need not worry. After four years of study, he graduated at the age of 21. He since has been doing several odd jobs for the Merchant's Guild and continues to search for heretics from all corrupt faiths.

Over the past few years, Gorgutz has made some friends such as a female half-elf named Binelle Loffy and a human monk of Iomadae named Daryl Freyra.Binelle operates an orphanage on outer edge of Coran in the eastern sector. Gorgutz started visitng there because he heard Binelle begging a debt collector not to evict the children of the orphanage. Sensing distress in her voice, followed by the fact he was overwhelmed by her beauty, he talked to the debt collector. After about a 10 minute talk, Gorgutz convinced the collector to work out a payment plan with him. Gorgutz would have to pay 10 gold a week for three months. Binelle was extremely grateful for this act of kindness. Ever since then they have come close friends. Gorgutz over the years has grown fond of the children, even to the point that he has helped them find loving parents. Binelle admires his benevolence and secretly has feelings for him, but her shyness prevents her from doing so. Gorgutz is completely clueless.

Daryl Freya came in contact with Gorgutz about a year ago. They worked on a secret mission together to protect a caravan to a town that was 300 miles away that provided a stockade of food. The town itself was ridden with disease and plague. The other major problem was that they were constantly attacked at night by the forces of the undead. When they finally arrived at night, the town was being attacked by a horde of zombies. Daryl, with his drunken fist syle, charged toward the enemy. However, he didn't notice while fight the horde that behind him was a stray zombie ready to bite down in his skull. Gorgutz, however, spotted it and shot it through the head. Daryl noticed this and after the zombies were taken care of, he vowed that he would one day return the favor. Gorgutz afraid that the undead plague would spread, burnt down the town, an act that would haunt him with regret and dispair.

Personality:

Gorgutz is relatively intelligent and can be at times wise. However, he often lacks common sense in regards of social interactivity. He has overcome this in the past, when the situation warranted it so such as the time when he helped lead a rebellion against the cultists of Lamasthu in his village. He is very devout towards the tenets of Erastil and generally only feels at ease when lost in the vast ocean of the forest. He loves all types of animals, but isnt against hunting them. Whenever he does go hunting, Gorgutz will pray to Erathis thanking him for his success and the meal it will provide. Because of his physiology, he speaks just like and any other orc would, causing him much grief when trying to communicate effectively. However, his laugh is infectious and has the ability to cheer up others when they feel down. For the most part, Gorgutz is relatively calm except when his loved ones or comrades are threatened, in which case he is overcome with rage. Most notably he believes in doing what is right regardless of who it is doing the wrong.

Apearance:

He is a towering figure who is often smiling. He has two large tusk protruding from his bottom jaw. The half-orc has intimidating yellow eyes at first glance. Like most orcs his skin is light green. When he reads he puts on glasses to help focus the words in front of him. Whenever walking about the town, he is often clad with leather armor underneath his black trench coat. He is usually seen wearing a rather large round hat in the color of red.
