BACKGROUND AND DESCRIPTION
Amarantha was always a strange child: calm, cheerful and kind in manner and, much to her parent's embarrassment, strikingly honest. Children and adults alike in her Varisian clan found her disarming and generally left her to her own devices. As a teenager she was ill-suited to scholarly pursuits and not interested in learning a trade, though she enjoyed the physical challenges of Varisian dance. Her keen sense of justice and honesty sometimes got her into trouble, and so she learned to fight, eventually taking lessons from the warriors of her caravan. On her 20th birthday Amarantha had a dream which she interpreted as being from the god Cayden Cailean. She resolved to leave her clan and wander the world, helping the downtrodden and performing good deeds in her adopted god's name. Her bemused family did not try to stop her.

Amarantha is very idealistic, a bit eccentric, and not too fond of books. She is open and friendly and likes a drink and a dance, but is quick to anger at the slightest hint of injustice.

She is of average height with an athletic physique and curly auburn hair which she wears long in the Varisian manner, and she wields her glaive in a whirling circular style. Amarantha often appears a little scruffy as she enjoys wine and is not afraid to sleep under the stars at the end of a long night.
