Backstory:
Acaciano was born to a human woman in Restov, an not-so-unexpected result of a series encounters with an elf scout for a travelling caravan having hunkered in Restov for the winter. His mother was an swordlady, Dáma Katerina Karbashewsky, and was more concerned with her dueling career and training than she was with settling down, but was still interested in the prospect of motherhood, so when she saw an opportunity, she seized it, and Acaciano was born that autumn. Acaciano grew up well and in reasonable comfort. At his mother's insistence he trained as one of her students, attempting to master the dueling sword, and though he grew into a physically capable and tough combatant, he never truly felt comfortable with a blade in hand, nor while armored. He decided to focused instead on herbology, and his mother - though initially disappointed - was eventually happy to give Acaciano's place to more promising students. After establishing himself as a particularly competent caretaker, Acaciano secured a comfortable, if humble, career for himself by apprenticing to a prominent apothecary. He learned everything there was to know though, and eventually, likely with some of his mother's blood showing through, he found himself wanting more. He'd developed an almost spiritual bond with the plants he kept in Brevoy, and wanted desperately to expand on this and see where it would go. And so, alone but reasonably well-prepared, and bidding his mother farewell, he set off towards the southern wilds of Brevoy, intending on touring the wilderness until he found a Druid to learn from. It took the better part of a rough season, but Acaciano did eventually find a Druid in the wilds and he made his case, demonstrating what he already knew and his connection to living things, and asking to be taught more. Not particularly moved either way by Acaciano’s skills but withholding judgment, the apathetic Druid, laughing at his highborn name and urbane tendencies, allowed the boy to stick around for a time. After winter passed, the Druid saw that Nature had seen fit to let Acaciano survive, and he spent more time with him, showing him some basics, teaching him of the Green Faith, and assessing the his propensities. By the end of spring, the Druid realized Acaciano’s would be best off studying with an old elf Treesinger of whom he knew. Given cardinal directions and a blessing, Acaciano was sent to find the old elf. He'd spend the next 5 years deep in the forest: the first two were spent finding the teacher in the first place, and the next three were spent eagerly learning what he could from the old elf, who had a propensity for disappearing for months on end, preferring to spend much of his time as a tree instead. After a time Acaciano, pleased with himself, sought out adventure. He felt a patriotic curiosity regarding Brevoy, and had to admit that he did miss his mother a bit. Bidding the forest farewell for a time, he journeyed back to his childhood home for a visit. Reuniting with his mother was pleasant, and though she’d grown older than he’d realized, her school was doing quite well. After a short reunion though, Acaciano realized she was busy politically, and he was beginning to miss the wilds all the same. By chance, he picked up a rumor that a particularly vicious pack of Owlbears was terrorizing the souther countryside of Brevoy, and once again he bid his mother farewell, setting off to help pare back the creatures and protect the farming communities. A month later, and hot on the trail, Acaciano arrived to a small town just a day behind the Owlbear pack. The only victims of the attack had been a married pair of half-elves, and they were survived by their son, Tai. Feeling a great deal of sympathy for the boy, and sensing promise, Acaciano took him under his wing. As the Owlbear trail grew cold, Acaciano helped Tai grieve. When he left the town to roam once more, Tai followed, and Acaciano happily let him come. As they travelled, Acaciano encouraged Tai’s connection to nature, and nurtured the boy’s talents. After a moderate amount of begging, Acaciano finally acquiesced and put Tai on the path to becoming a swordsman, purchasing him a sword in a town they stopped in for supplies, and showing him what he himself knew of swordplay. Tai proved to be a natural talent, fast outpacing what his teacher knew. Once he was fully aware and appreciative of of Tai's potential, and not wishing to stunt his pupil's development, Acaciano sent him to Restov with a letter to his mother, requesting that she herself train Tai for a time. The Dama was unwilling to let Tai advance through her ranks with his simple, pragmatic style, but gave him cursory lessons all the same as a favor to Acaciano. Tai was sent back to Acaciano a year. Happy enough with the foundation he’d been given --which was far more than he’d ever expected to get-- Tai continued his training in swordplay in the field with Acaciano as they roamed. Tai flourished under Acaciano's tutelage, and while he never felt the calling to join the Druids themselves, he did heed the call to the Green Faith, and he accompanied Acaciano on all of his duties, his unique talents proving useful on many occasions. After a time, word of a dangerously large Owlbear pack made its way to Acaciano and Tai. They didn’t need to discuss the issue- they packed their things and set off for that part of Brevoy. Acaciano proudly let Tai lead the tracking efforts, and they soon found their way to the pack. The battle was long, raw, primal, and brutal, but Acaciano and Tai won the day. They failed to dispatch the leader of the pack, who fled with a slew of females, but they’d put off any immediate danger for the region. Happy with their efforts, they decided to trek towards Restov to resupply. While in Restov, Acaciano learned of the charter to the Stolen Lands being offered to adventuring groups. The next day he sent messages out to a number of druids he’d come to know, looking for interested souls. Hopefully they’d reply; he expected many would. For him, this was a perfect melding of his two interests, glory for Brevoy, and an opportunity to balance and protect the natural world. Naturally, Tai was coming along for the ride. He heard back over the next few days, in the affirmative, from a handful of capable Druids, and he and Tai managed to recruit some budding followers, not capable of much yet, but with potential. With pride, he submitted an application on behalf of their company, Voice of Trees". Appearance:
Acaciano's appearance tends to change with the seasons, so his hair currently shines a bright snow-white and his eyes are an ice blue. His weather-worn face, however, maintains the same gruff half-smile he almost always wears. His elven features -- the pointed ears, and the tall frame -- are obviously apparent, but he's anything but frail or lithe, his human blood contributing to a sturdy, strong body...not unlike the trees he venerates.
