DIY Miniatures Transport Case (+ light box for photographing minis)

Miniatures

I thought the tutorial I made for making a transport case for painted (or pre-painted) minis might be of interest to the people here.
Now, this is mostly if you're interested in protecting your miniatures and don't want to pay a lot for a GW miniature case/Sabol Armytransport or similar items.
The tutorial is much more effective with actual pictures in it, so instead of writing it up here, I'll just link to the thread where I posted it in:
DIY Transport Case.

Bonus info:
On the second page of the thread I made a quick tutorial for a
"Dead simple light box for lighting your miniatures properly while photographing them for your online posting needs." ;-)

Thanks for posting that. I made a quick light box and I think it makes a difference. Now I need a couple more lights though....

This looks like a great idea. I have been wondering how to photograph my minis (when I get to the stage where I feel like I have ones I wouldn't be embarrassed to share with other people), and that seems like a nice and easy way to do it.
Incidentally, it's nice to see a fellow Dane on here. I'm back in the US these days but make it back to Copenhagen about once a year, typically at Christmas.

I think there are a least 10 Danes who post here semi-regularly (two of them are from my regular group), so we're definitely not alone. :-)

By the way, I made a light box. Here's a link to a photo of it.

And here's a link to a few photos taken using it:

Looks great.

Some constructive criticism. When you can, you should get separate light sources for the sides too. Your model covers most of it, but you could benefit from more (direct) light from the sides.
The pictures. After taking them, you should use any kind of picture editing software and auto-correct the white balance in them. When taken under normal light (light bulbs, flourescent light etc.) the pictures will have a yellow sheen, which can be removed in such software.
Compare the pictures you took with these, where I've auto-corrected the white balance:
Horned Devil 2
Lionticore 2

Great advice. What editing software do you use? I use Gimp and I haven't seen an autocorrect ability in it. I have left the option of using three lamps open, but right now my space is pretty limited. I'll give it some more thought.

These two pictures I corrected in GIMP too (I usually just use ACDSee, but I haven't installed it on my new computer).

In GIMP:
Colors -> Auto -> White Balance

GentleGiant. Thanks loads. That's awesome. I feel sort of lame for not seeing that before. But I've mostly used Gimp for drawing maps, not for photo editing.

This should improve my photos posted on the internet pretty dramatically. :)
