I believe they used the same image for the last playtest.

Please be a Warlord/Tactician type of class. Or Inquisitor. Or Slayer. Or some occult class :) I am easy to satisfy it seems.

Hoping for pretty much any mix of Inquisitor, Psychic, Kineticist, and Occultist. Fingers crossed!

(It feels like every character I try and make ends up wanting to be an Inquisitor or a Psychic; it’s a real problem!)

Just remember that the art don't mean much, the same one was used last time with gunslinger and inventor.

This will be for a new book. Book of the Dead is primarily a Bestiary with a couple Ancestries in it, by all accounts; I wouldn’t expect a ton of player options.

It could be anything. The previous one was both a new class and a reinvented class from PF1.

I'm suspecting that we might see a class from the Occult Adventures book (the Kineticist would be my guess), as well as a wholly different class. The big question is what sort of niche are we missing that we can expect this new class to fill.

I think it is a playtest for next year's august release. It might be too late to playtest stuff to be shipped in march.

I can feel the excitement already, unless that's my laptop overheating.

We got secrets of magic, guns and gears, there is room for a secrets of combat and I would love to see a warlord and a ninja

Occultist and Kineticist?

So far, these playtests have fit a mold: two classes for a themed book. The book on magic gave us Magus and Summoner, while a book on tech gave us Gunslinger and Inventor. I have to assume this pattern will hold true, so let’s let that shape the theorycrafting!

-Occult book with Occultist and Psychic. Occult magic feels like the least-loved of the four traditions so far in terms of player options, and I think these are guaranteed to be pretty popular.
-Nature/primal book with Kineticist and Shifter. It seems like everyone wants Kineticist back, and the Shifter deserves a second shot at life. This book could also have wilderness exploration rules in it.
-Divine book with Inquisitor and either a retooled Medium or a new class. This is the pitch I’m least clear on, but I dearly want Inquisitor back.
-Martial book with Warlord/Marshal/Commander and probably something else new? There’s a lot of demand for a Warlord-style class, and martials always love having more options. This could be a place for mass combat rules as well.

I also do think there’s a slim chance it’s a genre book, rather than a setting element, because I can see a horror supplement with Inquisitor (for monster-hunting) and Occultist (for delving into terrible secrets) as the new classes.

There's currently no dedicated, prepared occult caster, so my money is on the Occultist.

I think Inquisitor + Occultist could be a neat combo. I’d say make them bounded spell casters… plus, Divine and Occult could be expanded… fit them in a book on spirits, gods and mystery with additional rules such as being a demigod, having a ghost animal companion, conducting seances and the like. A nice pairing to the Book of the Dead. Throw in another Champion Tenet set and that’s a sell…

Based on what Jason said on the GCP interview, I think the Kineticist is too far away.

I think you're on the right track! Personally, crossing my fingers for some divine stuff, though with the Book of the Dead coming out in the intervening, it might not be.

My follow-up hope is the primal idea. Though I still hope a shifter, if it's coming, is not stuck being primal.

So are the playtest classes going to be fully revealed in just under 2 weeks and Sep 30th is the start of the official playtest or....?

But, the Occultist was nowhere close to a full caster. I suppose they could make them a full caster like the Bard, but I feel that the new tiered casting from Magus and Summoner makes more sense. Then again, the Psychic definitely wouldn't be a prepared caster...

I'd personally love to have the mesmerist but that's JUST ME. I'm going to be hype for whatever they announce.

Yeah, it's maybe same date with adventure about Truename

My pie-in-the-sky hope is the Occultist, renamed Antiquarian, as a martial with pick-a-tradition bound/wave casting in the form of the following subclasses:

Occult tradition - original Occultist
Arcane tradition - Silksworn
Primal tradition - Psychodermist
Divine tradition - Reliquarian

I'm hoping for Kineticist and another occult class.

But I'm game for anything, including something brand new.

This book could also have wilderness exploration rules in it.

I think as the Lost Omens Gods and Magic has already come out the next announced book will be primal based, with more wilderness and snares to toy with. Going off this...

I would dearly love a FF Blue Mage style Shifter (with different origins so primal is separate to arcane and alchemical accident, etc). And in fact, maybe that is more what they had in mind with synthesist summoners? As they share nearly the same design space don't they?

I think the only other logical 2nd class would be the kineticist, but I'm picturing more feat lines and powers rather than any actual spells (or casting like the summoner/magus), maybe even elemental skill feats?

I really enjoyed the Inventor playtest, so if it's a brand new class on the way I'M IN!

They’ve said that those systems are pretty tightly bound to Kingmaker’s specific setting and story, and so there’s plenty of room for a fuller, more-generic expansion.

I reckon it's going to do to Ultimate Combat what Secrets of Magic did to Ultimate Magic. It's probably the one major absence from the current line up.

Hoping for a book focused on Occultism. With Spirits having closer ties to occultism I'd like to see the Shaman class rebranded as a spirit binder with occult casting.

I noticed Zova made a surprise appearance in one of the illustrations for the Mwangi Expanse book - is the Shifter getting another chance, perhaps?

Personally, I'd love some kind of "Primal Power" book with the Shifter & Kineticist, focusing on elemental and natural stuff.

How about a book about Politics, Trade, and Thievery? Expand upon Rogues as Spys and Merchant types. I only think of that because there's not much on Aspis Consortium, but they're mentioned all the time. Even if it's not, that would still be fun for a future tome.
