  1. Gen Con and Thanks for All the Fish

Gen Con 2016 is in the books (and Delta's computer failure gave me and many other Paizonians a lovely bonus day or two in the fabulous airport waiting areas of Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and/or Salt Lake City) and what a show it was! Demos of the upcoming Mummy's Mask Base Set were a huge hit in the exhibit hall, with 10 tables of action running basically at capacity for four straight days. Many thanks to Dominick Trascritti and his skilled demo team for giving fans old and new an excellent introduction to Mummy's Mask.

Hi everyone! Writing to you from the Sagamore Ballroom in the Indianapolis Convention Center. Flew in the night before last from the United Kingdom to start setting up for Gen Con, which kicks off this Thursday. Yesterday morning, the Sag was empty, with three lonely pallets of stuff shipped from Paizo home offices. At its busiest, there were 30ish people bustling around, hanging banners, moving tables, and getting the basics set up.

  3. The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Returns to Gen Con!

There's more Pathfinder ACG to be found in the seminar rooms. Mike and Chad will join Penny Arcade's Mike "Gabe" Krahulik to talk about the evolution of their arc of games, including some discussion of PACG, at the panel Big Co-Op Game: From Betrayal to Thornwatch on Thursday at 1 pm. Right after that, at the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game panel on Thursday at 2 pm in room 212 of the convention center, our team members will talk about Mummy's Mask, the Goblin decks, and other such awesomeness. Then on Friday at 1 pm, at the Pathfinder & Obsidian Entertainment panel, we'll chat up the digital game and all the cool things to come from that. If you like hearing us talk about things you like, you'll hear us a lot at Gen Con.

  4. Rolling Up to Gen Con

There's less than a week until the Paizo crew arrives in Indianapolis for Gen Con 2016! If you're heading to the show, stop by the Paizo booth (#103), the Sagamore Ballroom where we'll be hosting the weekend's Pathfinder Society events, or catch Paizonians at a variety of events taking place throughout the show.

There is no way to do everything at Gen Con by myself; there are just too many tasks and too many places to be. So every year a team of Lead Volunteers is named to help out. While I coordinate things between Gen Con and PFS, they do the same for all the volunteers. Months before the convention starts, just weeks after Gen Con 2015 ended, they started talking about Gen Con 2016. Through months of planning, generating schedules, corresponding with volunteers, compiling lists of supplies, they work closely with me to deliver a quality show. They arrive at Gen Con early and help me set up the Sagamore. Setup is a HUGE endeavor, involving unpacking pallets, building shelving, assembling table stands, folding papers, stuffing envelopes, sorting shirts... an almost endless list of tasks that all need to occur before Wednesday afternoon when our volunteers arrive. After four days of very little sleep, they help tear down the Sagamore, disassembling everything we built days before, packing up the pallets, rolling banners, and compiling a list of GM feedback. Only when everything is torn down and ready to return to Seattle do they take a breather and stop thinking Gen Con 2016. Then, a few weeks later, they review the feedback, read through the many post-Gen Con forum threads, and start thinking about Gen Con 50. The amount of time these volunteers spend putting the show together is immense and I cannot say thank you enough to them for all they do!

  6. Gen Con, Baby!

We've got tons of material on tap for organized play fans at this year's show. First, the known info: Season of the Runelords, our third season of the Adventure Card Guild, wraps up in August 2016, and avid players will be able to triumphantly complete the season in the Sagamore ballroom. You'll be able to play any or all of the scenarios in SotRu at the show, and we'll even keep a copy or two of Season of the Righteous and Season of the Shackles tucked away for folks who want to catch up or try some new adventures.
