Out-of-Print Titles Return as Print-on-Demand

I'd love to see more of the Adventure Path or standalone adventure books be available! So many of those are impossible to find and I prefer to read them with a physical book.

Very cool! While my library is complete, I know many others have been wanting something like this for quite some time.

I've always had the hardest time finding the first book of APs. Been looking for a copy of book 1 of Iron Gods - Fires of Creation forever.

Wrath of the righteous. I can't find books that aren't 2-400$ haha.

I think this is a great idea. As others have noted, I’m not looking for any of the older titles in print, but appreciate that options are available for those who do.

Can you make the following books available? They’re almost impossible (or impossible) to find:

- All Council of Thieves
- All Skulls & Shackles
- All Wrath of the Righteous (Especially #6, City of Locus)

Older APs can't be found at reasonable prices. If I needed specific titles to buy, they would be the APs of Council of Thieves, Kingmaker, Skulls and Shackles and the Wrath of the Righteous books. It's outrageous the price they are on some sites. Thanks!

Amazing!!! For me, I want First Volume of Iron Gods, First Volume of Reign of Winter, and the Whole of Legacy of Fire...!

YAY! It's about time! Now I do wish they'd have done more "all 6 adventures in 1 hardcover" adventure paths (no updates/changes needed), but this will still cover, especially for those APs where only one book is hard to get (Return of the Runelords #6). I managed to get all of the Player companions, but I still have a handful of setting and lots of modules I want to get bound copies of. My PODs from dtRPG I got of a couple Wizards books weren't bad at all.

I do hope Paizo keeps the pocket editions in print though.

It sucks trying to buy an AP Volume online for it to cost $240…
For me any of the old out of print AP’s would be great!
Particularly Mummies mask, Shattered Star, Wrath of the Righteous, curse of the crimson throne.

Would love to get Book of the Damned Hardcover as well as some of the old chronicles.

I would love to see a Carrion Crown reprint as all but one volume is OOP.

I am excited to see this, none of of the current titles open to POD are useful for me but there are a few older books I am lacking so maybe some day.

Awesome, but we definitely need Guide to Korvosa on POD. It is one of the most highly sought after Campaign Setting books and has been out of print and unobtainable for almost a decade.

I would buy all things Carrion Crown.

On the one hand this is nice, but as a collector, I actually spent a lot of money on out of print books (Carrion Crown and Kingmaker cost me a TON of money.) I have every single out of print AP and have probably spent close to $1300 on amassing them over time. Knowing that was futile or might become more futile if you print certain ones has me totally gutted. It feels like I got conned kinda… like I feel super dumb. I could have done so much else with that money. It’s great other people without skin in the game can get them now..I just wish I knew this was a possibility because I never would have started collecting them, and would have just waited. I wasn’t exactly stoked to need to pay what I paid, but I love the company and don’t collect anything else.

EDIT: . I want to clarify that when I say I feel I got conned, I’m not talking about feeling like Paizo in particular conned me. As a matter of fact the sellers didn’t con me either. This is all just highly unexpected, and I severely misread the likelihood of an event like this. As I mentioned in another post, these AP’s haven’t even been mentioned in 6-10 years, and with 2e as the focus I thought it was safe to assume that these would stay PDF’s.

They did not mention it explicitly. They simply didn’t print them or mention them again or at all for 6-10 years before moving on to 2e and removing all focus from 1e. It’s still my fault for assuming, but them starting to print these again I think we can at least agree is unexpected. Unexpected is the right word. Not unprecedented. I wasn’t careful enough here.

I think I would have placed money on Carrion Crown or Reign of Winter becoming a collected 2e conversion before POD, but the problems of Kingmaker may make them unwilling to do a conversion right now (the collected AV being a different beast with a much lower amount of development needed).

My thoughts on Kingmaker in particular would be that they wouldn’t bother with a 1e POD because they were working on a conversion.

I would love to see Kingmaker, I really want to run it for my group but I need a hard copy to make it happen.

I know it's a different issue, but will we ever see a digital version of Heroes for Highdelve? It's the only modern PF book that is not available in any form.

For Kingmaker, they've gone a different route. It's the next revamped one like Rise of the Runelords or Curse of the Crimson Throne. I don't know how many they're printing beyond what's necessary for crowdfunders (especially of the 1e stuff that they're sadly moving away from), but hopefully it's enough for it to hit stores.

This is good news as I've been buying up old 1e AP's at markup prices the past couple years.

Finally Paizo is doing POD in DTRPG. WotC has been doing so for years now. Maybe this means we might get a reprint of Shackled City, since neither should have any objections now. Maybe the powers that be will also give us print editions of Age of Worms and Savage Tide.

Shackled City, Age of Worms, and Savage Tide are owned by WoTC, any reprints/POD options are entirely up to them, not Paizo.

Do you use these books for gaming, or are you just paying too much to have something look nice on your shelf?

I use pdf’s personally. A lot of these SEEMED kind of collectible. Which I suppose they’re not now. Also whether or not I’m paying too much is reliant on whether paizo prints more, which actually seemed rather unlikely…so they only cost too much in hindsight. I’m assuming that you would find it super annoying if they printed, say, Legacy of Fire as a single book?

They're still collectible. Just like a first edition hardback novel retains its collectability no matter how many later printings there are. POD copies will be clearly different (paper stock, the inside covers as separate pages instead, and so forth). There will always be people who prefer the look-and-feel (and the exclusivity) of the originals.

But I personally don't think it's reasonable for you to say Paizo shouldn't give other people to have an opportunity to buy reprint-editions because it somehow makes your choice to buy first editions feel bad to you.

Please do book 1 of Mummy’s Mask so I can complete that set!

I'd like Mummy's Mask and Iron Gods. It's a shame that none of these adventure paths were collected into one pocket edition (like Runelords and Crimson Throne were)but at least this way I can get hold of physical copies of older adventure paths. Not all of us want to use PDFs.

Maybe they never bought them to accumulate value? I know I've been buying out of print stuff because I only got into the hobby in the past couple of years and never had the opportunity to purchase them originally. I'm not bothered by this announcement but I can see how it might bother someone else.

The value of the original print runs as collectibles should not have diminished, as they are described in the blog in a way that suggests that the new POD versions are readily distinguishable from the originals.

If you just wanted the contents of the documents in printed form, you should not have had to pay anything more than the price of the PDF plus the price of having it printed at Staples.

Reprinting the Kingmaker adventure path would be awesome. I know that you're already working on the Anniversary Edition, but just being able to physiclly own the original AP would just be the best.

In my experience getting pdfs like this in full color printed at staples is much more expensive than this POD option.
