Launching Starfinder Year 3: Year of Exploration’s Edge – Scenario Peek and ConCurrent Information

ConCurrent starts tomorrow, June 19th, featuring the launch of Starfinder Society Year 3: Year of Exploration’s Edge. We’ve revealed the year art and symbol, but now we get to take a peek at the first two scenarios of the year.

First up, Starfinder Society #3-01: Crash Down, written by Paizo’s own Starfinder developer Jason Tondro. It involves the PCs experiencing an unexpected event in orbit of a planet in the Vast that leads to them needing to survive on the planet until help arrives! This scenario uses a new Survival Tag that lets both GMs and Players know the major theme of this adventure.

Second, Starfinder Society #3-02: The Subterranean Safari by Jessica Catalan, has an interesting story. This scenario directly builds off the end of the upcoming Starfinder Free RPG Day product, Skitter Home. The PCs join a Veskarium military official on a hunt through the subterranean realm of the skittermander homeworld! Due to changes in timing, we couldn’t announce the Free RPG Day connection until now, but players who’ve enjoyed the story in Skitter Home can get some additional follow-up in this scenario (though it’s certainly not required!)


Besides these new adventures, the ConCurrent schedule includes lots of prior year Starfinder Society content, including higher level games, as well as Pathfinder Society (both editions) as well as Pathfinder Adventure Card Society.

If you haven’t signed up for games at ConCurrent, but wish to, register via Warhorn and sign up for games. Then join the Paizo Organized Play Online Events (POPOE) Discord server at and follow the instructions in the #player-instructions channel. If this is your first time participating in Paizo Organized Play, register via the Paizo website. If you misplaced your number, email organizedplay@paizo.com for assistance.

Yay, for year 3! I am so excited to see Ehu Hadif's first missions! I am also really looking forward to GMing scenarios by Jake Tondro and and Jessica Catalan! They are both such awesome authors!

Its basically Origins online games since they got canceled. Paizo was going to run Concurrent as overflow for Origins online anyway and with the cancellation they just expanded it to an online convention of their own!

I suspect that like PaizoCon, you will be able to get into open games during the hour before they open by posting in the Looking for Game channel.

Cyrad - We close the warhorn the 30 minutes before games so that we can seat walkups. Those are being handled through the discord, come on in and say hi and the friendly HQ vols will get you into a game.

Sandra et al - the Guide will be out by Gen Con, maybe sooner. It is still pdfed, so has a particular workflow it needs to go through. While working from home hasn't stopped up our scenario releases, it has put a few spanners in the systems and the Guide got some of that fallout. In the interim, Guide 2.0 is valid as is assigning credit to Second Seekers (Ehu) faction, though you won't know what the rest is until the guide comes out.

Thanks! It'll be a mystery faction! It will be interesting seeing how Ehu's boons reflect his stated goals. I'm looking forward to the reveal, whenever it happens.

So do we have a timeline for the Season 3 guide for Starfinder Society? I'm not meaning to complain, and I understand that life in our time of Covid has made everything harder. I just would like to know when I should check for it again because right now I have been checking the blog every day in anticipation of its announcement. The disappointment is starting to wear on me. I know its stupid but that is how I am feeling right now.

I feel this, too. Yes, COVID is a very real, and very valid, problem, and yes, coming off of "con season" is more than enough justification for folks to have some down time. Together, plus whatever else we don't even know about, affords Paizo all manner of patience and acceptance (in my books, at least.) But at the same time: the dumb monkey-brain wants new shiny things, lol.

So...I also know it's stupid, and I also feel this way. Maybe it helps to hear you're not alone?

It's not like 'con season' is a surprise though, so one should have their ducks in a row before it arrives. Mind you we seem to be in a perpetual state of 'But its pre-con season, gotta get ready' for a bunch of months, then 'con season' takes six months, then its post-con season for about five minutes, but everyone needs a rest.
