Prepare To Launch

Tuesday, June 16, 2020

We’re just a month or so away from the release of the first set of prepainted plastic miniatures in WizKids Games’s Starfinder Battles line, and I couldn’t be more excited to show them off to you today! In much the same way we launched the Pathfinder Battles line with Beginner Box Heroes—a non-randomized set of four Iconic heroes—way back in 2011, we’re kicking Starfinder Battles off with two non-randomized sets of six figures each: Starfinder Battles: Galactic Villains and Starfinder Battles: Galactic Heroes!

One of the greatest aspects of Starfinder is that player characters can just as easily be members of strange alien races as those central to the Pact Worlds’ core, and we made sure that even this alien-centric set had a few potential PC figures in it. Whether you need a cybernetic villain to challenge your players to mining rights on a remote asteroid or a malevolent brain with an atrophied body to really test the heroes’ mental resolve, the Diasporan Space Pirate and Contemplative have you covered.

Game Masters running the Against the Aeon Throne Adventure Path will likely want to grab a few of the Aeon Guard figure, which represents a soldier in the vast legions of the Azlanti Star Empire.

And for challenges closer to home, we have the Patrol-Class Security Robot, Necrovite, and Space Goblin Zaperator, each ready to bring your adventures in the Pact Worlds to three-dimensional life—or unlife, er, undeath? You know what I mean!

Starfinder Battles: Galactic Villains is currently on schedule for a late July release, so make sure to secure yours from your local game store (they need your business in these tough times!) or right here on paizo.com. Next week, we’ll look at the six figures that make up the Galactic Heroes set. Until then, Starfinders, don’t Drift too far from home!

Yes, I've been waiting for these! Are there store pages yet?

Thank you for pictures of the actual minis, Mark!
These all look pretty good and i can see that all but the Necrovite could be used in multiples, so i will probably need to buy more than one pack.

Street date is july 22nd by the way, that's in 5 weeks already!

@Fumarole: I couldn't find any product pages, but there isn't a july 2020 new releases & subscription page yet, too and i imagine that they will ship with those.

July will be the busiest month of the year for miniatures:

-8th: PFB City of Lost Omens boosters, Adult Red & Black Dragon and Thieves Guild.

-15th: Wizkids WarLock Tiles (7 sets)

-22nd: Starfinder Battles Galactic Heroes and Villains sets.

I need that goblin.

And I don't even play Starfinder any more!

I don’t play Starfinder, but I’m very tempted to buy it just because of the space goblin.

We were over the moon (so to speak) when WizKids told us they could do the bubble helmet. It is really central to the Space Goblin's whole aesthetic.

I have a mighty need.

Great-looking miniatures, especially goblin.

I appreciate the real images. I got sick of the 3D models enchanting me to buy a brick only for the figures to look like abstract Picasso paintings. I stopped buying randomized boosters because of this.

Though, the figurines in this pack are all enemies you need multiples of. Especially in Starfinder Society where scenarios often spam 4 to 8 security bots at you. I can see many GMs having to buy at least 4 packs of these.

I came in to make a post, while reading posts I see what I was going to write almost word for word. So I will now post my post.

Man, I don't even play Starfinder, but I am probably going to pick this up just for that Goblin.

Will now elaborate on the not playing Starfinder

Was going to play Starfinder until Ninja Division robbed me. Wish Wizkids had the space in their schedule for this a few years back, these look really really good :D Glad they are finally pumping out plastic for the game :D

The bubble is the main reason I want it. :3

Is it safe to,assume that we will see many more space goblins in future sets? The rest are terrific minis as well, and a welcome departure from the mostly Star Wars and Star Trek themed minis currently available.

I also hope that we will get a full Starfinder Battles set in the not too distant future. ;-)

If it comes this year, october or november will be the time it comes out.

I can see the six pieces of "dungeon dressing" being replaced by starships in the first set, although i think there will probably be more in it than just that, with fighters being common & the largest ships being rares.

Wizkids also plan to do sci-fi themed WarLock Tiles further along the line. :-)

Gosh, I'm hoping we get a mini set of skittermanders the same way the We Be Goblins set is a thing!

Wizkids have revealed massive news of their miniatures yesterday, unfortunately only for D&D.
I don't want to Post this here, but can't find the appropriate place. Can someone point me to the right place?

I also made a long post on minisgallery.com.

All the focus on Space Goblins, but they hardly ever appear, and you can't actually play one.

Skittermanders became the NuGoblin and I really feel cheated.

They’re in the Alien Archive, aren’t they?

I have a player who’s a goblin in my game. He got the stats from somewhere..

Yes they are, and stats for playing one are included. Details on AoN can be found here.

They aren't 'Society' legal though, and barely appear in Society play despite being popular in Starfinder artwork and heavily featured in the first Special (that was then deemed not a Special) and pretty much vanished.

I was really expecting moar Space Goblin, instead, we got a bajillion Skittermanders.

Not everyone plays Society though so you should have specified that.

Also Skittermanders are awesome.

Everyone who wants a huge "Killer whale" (Orca) mini to complete their Pathfinder Bestiary minis collection, should look to september 16th's "Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden" D&D Icons of the Realms minis set 17.

The storyline is reminding me an awful lot of "Reign of Winter", but there will be 12 huge minis in the set and lots of animals, but very few overlap with the "Pathfinder Battles" Reign of Winter" minis.

Icons of the Realms set 18 (yet untitled, but probably another "Icewind Dale" set with different subtitle) will release in november, just before Pathfinder Battles set 19 "Darklands Rising" comes out in december.

January 2021 will see the first "Ancient Dragon" mini from Wizkids, a White Dragon on a clear 8 X 8 inch base which is broader than the old Colossal Red Dragon (but not as tall) for $99.99.
Next up will be the Green.

We'll get another gargantuan white dragon (5 x 5 clear base $69.99) before that in september, a construct dragon (on 6 inch clear base for $79.99) in september and a gargantuan black dragon (5 inch base for $69.99) in december.
All chromatics, then all metallics, then a Shadow Dragon and others (dracolich) will be made in gargantuan size.

News from Wizkids:

The first full Starfinder Battles set with 40 minis in blind boosters will be out in january 2021!

Dark Archive

I bet we will see some, if not all of the minis in these two fixed boxes in the full set.

Dead Suns would be a good name for set 1.

Atm only one Starfinder Battles set per year is planned, but that could change depending on sales.

I know i will be getting a full case of set 1.

All of these minis were originally intended for that set, but when we pulled them out for an earlier release, we replaced them with new figures. So there won't be any overlap!

Thank you for the Information, Mark.

So when the first 4o minis set in blind boosters comes out in january 2021, together with these minis, there will be 52 different Starfinder Battles minis, together with the two Iconic Heroes sets & two Starship sets from Ninja Division (14 minis together) 66 Starfinder minis all in all.

We don't know what the premium set will be, in my opinion a gargantuan "Ellicoth" is possible, but i could also see a Space Station/Starship dressing set.

Mark, can you say anything about starship minis being in the set?
Back when the Starfinder Battles line was announced, it was said that there would also be starships minis included.

I can see starships take the same place (and reception) as dressing pieces, as not all people use starship battles in their games.

Thank you for your time!
