Rule Updates
As is traditional, a new suite of rule changes have taken effect as of Gen Con! These were announced in a blog last month. In summary, the following rule updates are now in place:
- All Pathfinder Society adventures are now replayable, including scenarios, quests and bounties. Sanctioned adventures will be made replayable in the future but will not be retroactively updated.
- Pathfinder Society characters may begin play at 1st, 3rd, 5th or 7th level. Pregenerated characters are now available for download up to 7th level.
- When playing a pregenerated character, credit may be a applied to a 1st-level character, a new character of the same level as the pregen, or held until a character reaches the level of the pregen.
- Pathfinder Provisions have been removed.
- Slow Track is instituted for Starfinder Society.

Sanctioning Updates
Gen Con brings a whole raft of new releases! For Pathfinder Society, the Character Options page has been updated with sanctioning for Lost Omens: High Seas and Impossible Magic. The Bastion of Blasphemies Adventure Path is also sanctioned for Pathfinder Society play; find sanctioning documents on the store pages. For Starfinder Society, you can now use options from Absalom Station: Center of the Galaxy!
Both programs have also released new player’s guides for their upcoming storylines. You can find both in last month’s blog, and both are immediately available for use with your Organized Play characters.
Additionally, if you’re looking for a new companion, have you considered Jimothy? Characters in both systems may select him as an animal companion.
GM and Volunteer Recognition
Campaign Service Coins
One of my favorite things I get to do when I attend conventions is hand out Campaign Coins. We award these coins to members of the community who have gone above and beyond to provide an exceptional program to the community at large. Campaign Coins are awarded based on nominations; if you believe someone in your community is deserving of this award (whether or not they are a Venture Officer), send an email to organizedplay[at]paizo[dot]com with their name and reasons.
Congratulations to Erik Oparowske, who now holds a Campaign Coin and OP ID #937!
GM Ranks
Whether stars, novas, glyphs, or nebulas, achieving a 5 ranking in any program involves a substantial amount of time. To achieve the 5th milestone, a GM must run 150 games, of which at least 50 must be unique scenarios and 10 special scenarios as well as run between one and three games for venture-captains (program dependent). A conservative estimate of the time needed to reach the 5th milestone is 650 hours!
This month we had eleven GMs reach their fifth rank!
5th Glyph (PFS2): Jarvin Bayona, Holger Christiansen, Treassa Cumpston, Daniel Fischer, Betsy Nold, Janice Piette, Mark Price, Aksel Raya, Antonio Santomarco, Ben Yarbrough
5th Star (PFS1): Shih, Yu-Yang
