Short answer: Marketing and support for RPG stores to hold on-site events.

Because Free RPG day is a marketing event for game stores (Who pay for the product they give out, by the way), the organization requires an embargo (one month, I think?) where the products are not supposed to be available outside the event.

I just looked at the Sanctioning Document. It also uses both.

The cover art has it as Sheerleaf.

It's so great to hear that there will be physical versions to buy. My FLGS isn't going to be able to do Free RPG Day because of cost for them (we're a very small town), so I was worried I'd not be able to get the physical copies--or have to pay Black Market (lol) prices for them.

Are they going to release the Characters as a separate file like they did last years.

There are a few issues with the pregens, so GMs may want to make some adjustments.

He's missing a signature spell. I'd recommend making Fireball signature.

She should have a +7 damage modifier, not +4. She doesn't have Intimidating Strike despite her combat tactics mentioning it, so use Combat Flexibility to "prepare" it. She's missing a level 10 fighter feat. I'd recommend Fearsome Brute to fit the frightening theme. Canny Acumen (Fortitude) is a general feat, not a skill feat; it also does nothing for a fighter. Swap it out for Ancestral Paragon (Natural Skill). This is actually required to get all the skills she has listed and doesn't change the stat block. She's also missing a level 10 skill feat. I'd go with Battle Cry.

It's pretty minor, but the statblock doesn't list his Divine Font spells.

Her kurkri strikes should have a +7 bonus to damage instead of +5. She's missing one of her level 1 skill increases, as well as the level 9 and level 10 ones. I'd raise Acrobatics to Master. She's also missing a level 10 skill feat, so Kip Up is an option. I guess raise Nature to Expert. The level 1 increase doesn't really matter. Crafting makes sense. The normal Debilitating Strike options aren't listed.

My store didn't get a kit in time and asked me to run starfinder and pathfinder. So umm I'm at a loss on what to do.

May we request a PDF of the adventure if we are GMing on Free RPG Day? I would rather not have to arrive at the shop early, grab a copy there for the first time, and run semi-cold.

There's not a lot of set rules... Shops may vary, but from my experience, the stuff is usually just spread on a table and people pick what they want from it. Because I know the stores have to pay to get these, I usually always try to buy at least one item at the same time I pick up the stuff, as a courtesy, and in hope that it will encourage them to keep doing it every year.

Depends on the shop; I would call ahead to see how that ship handles it, before driving a long distance. Some of the shops where I live used to give things out randomly, so there was no guarantee you would get the Free RPG book you were looking for.

In April's Paizo Live, they said it was written using the playtest rules. It was probably written before the full rules were finalized.

That sounds almost . . . traditional.

Feat count is a major issue.
The first number is the expected amount, the number in parenthesis is the actual amount listed. These totals include the free feats gained at 1st level.

Some of the missing Class feats are mentioned elsewhere, such as Kiana having Vicious Swing in the abilities list and Intimidating Strike in her combat tactics.

Ah, this clarification is helpful! In that case, yes, those are not out yet, but we'll update you! Sorry for the confusion on my part there!
