PaizoCon 2022 Logo PaizoCon Online 2022

We invite you to join us for PaizoCon 2022, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend (May 27–29) at the Doubletree in Seatac, WA. For those unable to make the trek in person, we’re also pleased to announce that PaizoCon Online will once again bring events to your screen with online play and seminars (and an extra day’s events on May 30th). Join us for an amazing weekend of Pathfinder and Starfinder gaming, including the launch of Year 5 of Starfinder Society and the kickoff of the Drift Crisis! We’ll also be celebrating a huge milestone: 2022 is Paizo’s 20th anniversary, and we’d love to have you join us!

While our physical show will be limited to 500 attendees, we still plan to bring plenty of Paizo content to both the online and physical space. Some highlights include:

Premiere events debuting simultaneously at both PaizoCon and PaizoCon Online!

  • Launch of Starfinder Society Year 5
  • New Starfinder Special #4-99 on Saturday evening from 6–11 pm
  • PaizoCon Puzzle Hunt returns for its 6th year!

At PaizoCon 2022 in Seatac you’ll find:

  • Pathfinder Society and Starfinder Society games from Friday to Sunday
  • The Paizo Store
  • Rooms for attendees to watch what’s happening at PaizoCon Online
  • Small-scale seminars and workshops
  • The Glass Cannon Network room returns! Join them for their show in downtown Seattle on Friday night and their PaizoCon show on Saturday night.
  • Onsite places for attendees/staff to watch digital events

At PaizoCon Online, you’ll find:

  • PaizoCon Online Keynote with Publisher Erik Mona
  • Pathfinder Society and Starfinder Society games running around the clock from Friday to Monday
  • Panels focused on products and big announcements, Friday through Sunday 10 am to 4 pm Pacific

For purchasers of PaizoCon 2020 tickets who rolled them over to our next physical show, we will be updating your tickets to ones for PaizoCon 2022. Anyone who wishes for a refund can do so by contacting customer.service@paizo.com. Please use the subject line “PaizoCon 2020 Refund” to expedite your request. The deadline for refund requests will be March 11, 2022, after which we will open up PaizoCon 2022 tickets for general purchase and put PaizoCon Online tickets on sale.

One change from prior in-person PaizoCons is that we are using Warhorn for all our event scheduling. We will have an initial schedule posted by March 21st and will update it as we add more events. If you are an author, third-party publisher, or Pathfinder Infinite content producer interested in running events, please stay tuned to the Paizo blog for more information about how to add your events to our online or physical schedule!

Covid-19 remains an ongoing consideration, and Paizo is committed to the safety of the Paizo staff and attendees. The precautions we are taking include:

  • In-person attendees are required to show proof of vaccination (including booster shots) and wear masks in all Paizo-controlled spaces such as ballrooms, seminar rooms, gaming spaces, and the Paizo store.
  • No banquet event
  • Hand sanitizer available in public spaces
  • Reduced number of physical show tickets with a capped attendance of 500.
  • More space between attendees in the seminar rooms, OP hall (between players and between tables), and in the Paizo store
  • Paizo will pivot to an online-only event should conditions take a turn for the worse.

Look for more communication over the next few months as we finalize more details, including event registration dates. We look forward to seeing you either in person or online!

Just to clarify, are you saying that all 500 tickets are accounted for? At the moment (unless there is a large amount of returns) that there will be no further tickets available going forward?

Sounds like it. I was wondering if there would even be an opportunity for purchases after the rollovers.

I would like to share that I'm somewhat disappointed with this situation. I started my kids on Pathfinder and cons when they were in grade school. Since we live nearby, we made it to multiple paizocons, a highlight for the year, and played some stellar games. It was tough coordinating four people to get in the same games, but we'd all be on our devices as soon as signup was allowed to pull it off.

2020 and the pandemic came and I didn't bother buying tickets. Cons were generally being canceled and those that weren't were almost certain to be superspreader events. However, if you had told me that I wouldn't be able to go to the next in person Con without buying tickets in 2020 (and, if something came up, I could get a refund even), I would have totally slapped my credit card down to get them.

My youngest (now in high school) hates VTT so only my oldest and I did the virtual Cons.

Currently, Paizo is requiring people to "opt out" of their "limited attendance" con. That means, if they do nothing, they have a ticket and Paizo keeps their ticket fees, which is pretty standard because it helps the company. For instance, Starbucks has a zillion dollars in unused gift cards. However, this strategy will not maximize attendance. The simple fact is that there is a significant number of people who won't or can't request a refund. Some don't check the message boards because they've lost interest and/or feel they gave Paizo a donation during the pandemic. Honestly, statistically, some people have passed away. How significant the number of people who aren't coming but hold a ticket is obviously uncertain.

To maximize attendance with the limitations, Paizo should have either required people to "opt in" (making the default a refund) or provide a decision of some sort - email or fill out a form with whether they want a refund or not.

It's not too late. You could ask the people with valid tickets to confirm their planned attendance.

I hate to criticize because, well, I love Paizo and I know huge amounts of people volunteer to make it awesome. But, still.

I feel like the fact that Paizocon is unavailable to anyone who didn't buy tickets two years in advance deserves a little more of an announcement than a single blog post. No Twitter announcement, no discussion on any other parts of the site, no other updates of any kind. Why did it take 5 days after the rollover deadline before someone said there would not be any more tickets going on sale? How long are we expected to wait to see if any spots will open up? I am, like posters above, also not inclined to make a stink about Paizo but this is incredibly frustrating and disappointing

I will admit that I had thought I had purchased a ticket for PaizoCon 2020 and only in the last day realized that I never actually made that purchase. I'm just a bit sad since I've been to every other PaizoCon and this messes with the completionist part of my brain.

Even though I'm a bit disappointed, I'm in agreement of how this is being resolved. I'll still be keeping an eye out in case badge purchases do appear, but otherwise I'll be looking forward to attending the online event.

Sorry to hear about the emergency and hope all is well. For what it's worth i am still waiting to hear back about my refund request sent on March 1st.

I believe the CS ticket is [148554]. Tickets appear to have disappeared from my+SO's accounts but i do not see my $240 as store credit (preferred) or reimbursed to my credit card.

I also went for the refund, had a feeling they would be over booked with existing tickets and with the Pandemic I can't justify recreationally being in large groups. Gutted about it. Also have FOMO for whatever the 'bonus' to the swag bag is, but hoping they also have that up for sale on the web store.

Also waiting to hear about the refund, paid back to the card preferrably.

Yeah, I agree! I was really looking forward to attending PaizoCon this year, and I'm pretty bummed that I might not get the chance because I wasn't able to travel in 2020. I'd really like to go if at all possible, but need to make arrangements to be able to travel. So any update at all on if tickets will become available would be much appreciated!

I'm also still waiting to hear back on the refund; it sounds like a lot of folks might be in the same boat. I decided I couldn't chance an in-person con yet and so my partner and I both regretfully canceled our tickets. Weirdly, I checked my account before sending the email and it showed no outstanding tickets, even though I know I rolled it over in 2020 and haven't received any refund since then (nor had I requested one before now). I haven't yet received a response besides the automated support ticket number to my initial request or a follow-up I sent the other day (neither has my partner).

I'm sure the customer service staff are doing the best they can under the circumstances, so hopefully things would be sorted out soon.

The tickets listed in the account were removed a long time ago. I forget the reasoning why, but we were told that they would still know if we had purchased them when the time came. My order is still in my order history, but the 'tickets' themselves have been gone for over a year I think.

For those looking for a hotel block, Bret was able to reserve a hotel room under the Paizo hotel block, so at least one hotel employee thinks that hotel block currently exists.

I am not seeing a link for the Online side of the con. I have that whole weekend already scheduled off, and I may want to jump in the online con for a few Starfinder games. Where can I sign up?

If you mean signing up for games to play. The games are listed in PaizoCon 2022's Warhorn. Make sure that you filter to only see the games for online play.

This is not open to the public yet, which is why it hadn't been shared. Because gms have some choice in what they are running, we have more games on the schedule than GMs. As such, this schedule will be culled before it is officially shared.

I promise we will have this information out for players to see in time to look it over before player registration opens, and when we do you will see it in a blog.

I have not received my refund yet either. Assuming (hoping) some plans are being made to address how the existing ticket attendance is being handled (as in opt-in instead of opt-out).

Which is why I actually went through with the refund request before the deadline.

Not a lot of information or confirmation going on with PaizoCon. I am sure it will be great, but the forum presence/interaction we usually have with upcoming products and events has been reduced, in my opinion, since the official CS forum went poof.

I haven't received my refund yet either. I opened my request on Feb 27 (Your support ticket ID is 148395). Tonya even wrote me to say they couldn't find it, which was troubling because I saw it in my order history. Fortunately, I had the original order email still in my inbox as well and forwarded that to customer service on Mar 16. I haven't heard anything since then, though I've asked for an update a couple of times.

This right here is why I always felt better when we had an open customer service forum. I agree that personal information should not be out in the public but when we have something like this going on it should be visible.

I have received no response other than the automated one generated when I requested the refund.

The PaizoCon tickets were removed from our e-ticket listing a long time ago. Would say well before last PaizoCon online.

I was never refunded, never requested a refund prior to submitting a request before the deadline now. I had assumed my refund would be issued as a priority because I put in the subject line what they requested we put in the subject line and we are now weeks later with absolutely no word about it.

Paizo seems to like it better when there is no where to publicly pool our knowledge when things are going sideways, which is one of the reasons I think the Customer Service forum was removed. I know the corporate word smithing that went along with a streamlined ticketting system but if absolutely no one has received a refund. Paizo isn't acknowledging us in these threads. And now someone is saying they are being told Paizo has no reference that they even had tickets?

Is this a joke?

For the record:

I requested my refund for 2 Paizo Con tickets and 2 Banquet passes on 3/10/22 before the deadline.

I received confirmation of the ticket created: Ticket Number 149410

Original PaizoCon and Banquet tickets ordered on:
December 5, 2019: 4 day badge + banquet Order Number 9704058
Jan 14, 2020: 4 day badge + Banquet Order Number 13505377

You all could have avoided this with giving us information a couple weeks ago about the status of the refunds. I shouldn't have to put you guys on blast for what should have been a simple process. At minimum keeping us informed of the status would have been sufficient.

Now looking at my orders those tickets have been converted in the order to be a 2022 3 Day ticket instead of being refunded. In the best possible light they are having issues and converted everyone over to 2022 before refunding. Which explains why they have way over the 500 tickets already allotted. I wonder what their count would be if the actually issued the refunds promised.

Hi!

Apologies for the lack of communication. I've been heads down taking care of things and posting here went off my radar! But here now with a quick update before I go back into the realms of processing PaizoCon returns.

Rolling the tickets over in bulk happened relatively easily. Refunding them is taking much longer, as they have to be done singly and can take some time if there are distributed tickets involved. Unfortunately, it is a process that needs focused attention and thus is taking much longer than expected.

I'm trying to get through the emailed refund requests/service tickets tonight. Once done, I'll move into refunding banquet tickets. I'll be working this weekend to clear the backlog so that all requested refunds should be cleared by the start of Monday.

Once we have this processed, I'll be contacting the remaining ticket holders via email. That may also generate a few more refunds.

This is the first time we've been in this situation, so we are working out process as we go.

Hi, I emailed paizocon@paizo.com 14 days ago regarding my PaizoCon 2020 ticket status, and received no response.

I have both a 2020 banquet ticket and a 2020 PaizoCon ticket, and want to check on the status of my convention ticket and banquet ticket, as well as the hotel block for that weekend.

Order 12995458: Banquet
Order 8259784: Convention

I know I didn't receive a refund, and plan to attend in person.

Thank you!

I've been trying to work on PaizoCon refunds all weekend, but the current login issues are also causing issues with me accessing our systems. I've got our tech team on it first thing Monday and will continue to work on this issue as fast as possible.

If you sent a ticket into the queue in the past 2 weeks, I have them and am working through them. I will get them all answered asap. If you didn't, but know you had tickets, we rolled them over and will put them back visible on the site as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the technical difficulties.

I will post here again as soon as I am able to complete the tickets. They are my top priority as soon as I can access our systems.

They actually last a really long time, considering. Everyone I mailed them to in 2020 found them just fine. PM me your address KC and you'll get one or four.

Wanted to thank Tonya for keeping an eye on the forums. Looks like the ticket I submitted via e-mail may have not generated a ticket on their end, or is missing. She emailed me last night and let me know that she didn't see a ticket on her end and wanted to verify that I was asking for a refund.

Sent my response off and just waiting for the refund to be generated now.

Miss having an official customer service forum to keep track of these things, because coming back to an older blog about PaizoCon to see that tickets weren't formed feels very clunky.

We absolutely missed our deadline, I am so sorry. I had to do emergency dental work that took me out of the office Mon and yesterday. We've been working to pull things together today, but didn't make it.

At this time, we don't have any tickets to sell. Given our reduced capacity of 500 people and that we rolled tickets from 2020 to 2022, we've been processing returns to see what space we would have. I'm working to contact ticketholders now and we are going to extend the date for returns. I hope that we will have tickets to offer and will keep the group updated.

I'm working on a blog for next week that will have the hotel information and the new dates for returns, as well as some other show news. To those of our community who were looking for ticket sales today, I am very sorry for not updating earlier!

It's been 3 full weeks since this post. Are there any updates? I don't wan to buy plane tickets if there's a decent chance my convention ticket won't be usable because you've oversold and there's a lottery or something to decide who can attend.

Hi!

I've gotten through all the tickets in the CS queue for queries and refunds. If you should have gotten a response and didn't get one, please let us know by responding to your original issue ticket confirmation email. That will bounce it back into the queue!

We will be honoring all tickets sold for PaizoCon 2020. At this time, we don't have any more spaces open and so won't be selling physical tickets. We are working as fast as possible to get the online tickets for sale so that you can be registered and ready for event registration!

I purchased a ticket back in 2020, including the banquet. I did not request a refund.

I still see nothing in my account as far as e-tickets go for 2022.

Having read through this thread, it makes me concerned, so I have sent a customer service request (support ticket #152560) which includes my information on the date of order, order number, and who I am on this site, to hopefully get some confirmation.

It is very hard to make travel plans concrete when I have no record/confirmation that I have an actual ticket. This is the kind of thing that creates unneeded anxiety around what should be something fun to plan.

I truly hope that everything can get ironed out soon; I really don't envy Paizo the problem of trying to pick up from something that was supposed to be two years ago now. It's a long time: records are old, emails get deleted (I'm glad I never delete anything).

I'll edit with an update when I get some help on this.

If you open your original order, does it now show that it is for a PaizoCon 2022 ticket?

Many of us have that as the only sign that our tickets are still good.

Now I am just waiting to be able to transfer my second ticket to my partner.

I agree that it would be more reassuring for the tickets to show in the correct area of my account page, but I suspect that there are both technical and staff availability issues delaying that.
