Beadle and Grimm's logo web banner

Friends,
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve started shipping our Pathfinder Complete Character Chronicles! These chronicles are the end result of over a year of work and worry, and they wouldn't have been possible without the support of our Kickstarter backers and our partners at Paizo. For the design, writing, editing, art selection, layout, and production, we have been fortunate to find great partners. And although covid, international shipping madness, and the occasional kraken have moved our delivery date around more than we would’ve liked, we couldn't be happier with the final product. We hope you feel the same once they land on your doorstep.

Beadle and Grimm's character chronicles books stacked up on a wooden table

For those of you who haven't seen them yet, go check them out on our website—or, if you prefer, your local game store. You just might find them lurking on a shelf! This is our first foray into retail—the thin end of the wedge, as it were—and we're very excited. Giddy even.

Pathfinder – Beadle & Grimm's Pandemonium Warehouse (beadleandgrimms.com)

Grab one for your next character and record their journey from 1st level to heroic epic-ness*. All the rules, spells, feats and abilities for one class can be found inside, plus a huge 20+ page character sheet to record every detail of your development, with plenty of room to grow. Top that off with 40+ pages of ruled journal space with gridded areas to draw maps, and a foldout for you to draw your keep or wizard’s tower, all with a vegan leather cover, sturdy pages, lay flat binding, multiple ribbons, a dry erase battle board that fits into the back cover, and other surprises.

We built this book for it to grow with your character. And for you go to back to, years after your character has retired in glory, or shuffled off their mortal coil, and remember adventures past.

Sincerely,

Your friends at Beadle & Grimm's

* Heroic epic-ness not guaranteed. You may well be eaten by something horrid.

I feel like a lowly pedant for noticing this but did anyone else catch that this blog was released in "Feruary?"

I got mine last week and was very impressed with the quality. They are like too nice to actually want to write in them!

I received my chronicle was definitely worth backing my first Kickstarter. The quality was amazing!! Hoping for the PDFs become available as, like John stated, they are too beautiful to write in.

This is the sort of thing I wish I had known about before because I would have liked to back it on kickstarter.

Will other classes be available in the future? Rest of the core rulebook? Advanced Players Guide? Secrets of Magic ect?

My most important character, whom I recreate in every edition of Pathfinder and D&D as my most important character is a Witch, for example, and he's the guy I would buy one of these for.

I will echo that thought. I’d love to see the other classes. I have a player who ALWAYS plays a ranger and another who like the advanced classes like summoner. Me ima gunslinger kind of guy, more so in 2E now that it’s a balanced class.

These look awesome.
I really hope you guys can add more classes. As soon as you have ones that match my current table, I'll buy a set.

Thanks for asking! We would LOVE to keep going in success and make other classes available. A Witch book would be a blast to work on. :)

Since I kinda answered this already, I just want to say that "Cat-thulhu" is hilarious. That is all.

Thanks very much! If we're successful enough with these to start a second set, we're going to need to set up a poll or something to pick the classes. Should be a lively debate! :)

One of the FLGSs in my area are stocking these amazing chronicles. Picked up the Wizard for my wife and the Driud for myself! I would love to see both the Witch and the Investigator come out in the future. Looking forward to the PDFs! I am so glad I backed this project. Thank you so much for an outstanding product, Beadle and Grimm team!!

Woke up to see this. The books are finely made. I mean top quality and super impressed. Glad I picked up a set. Likely I will plan on picking up additional copies for any long running campaigns I join up to! Looking forward to you guys continuing the series with new classes!

I was lucky enough to get in on the Kickstarter for these, and can confirm that the quality is superb! Ended up with a Wizard and a Cleric (Later added another Cleric purchase). The hard part is deciding which of my characters to use with the books! I, too, look forward to whatever future classes are added (Cough, Magus, Cough).

I suffer from chronic indecision re: nice notebooks I buy to write in for campaigns.

So ditto-ing. Even better if it was one of those fillable PDFs.

Also echoing "when we get more characters, I'll buy up", because I know my Lore Oracle would look super spiffy with a nice book for her stuff. Same for my Pally Champion.

Thanks! The - yes, fillable! - PDFs will become available this week on the Paizo site. But as someone who spent untold hours agonizing over the correct vegan leather texture for each class book, I'm hoping you'll consider a hardcover as well. :)

I kicked started these. A complete set of the limited editions for me and a complete set of the standard editions to give to my players. unfortunately my best note taker is a Ranger and it killed me to not be able to give her a book.

These books are amazing and absolutely beautiful. Absolutely worth it if you are playing a campaign and like to keep good notes and want a keepsake to put on the shelf for later reminiscing.

I would suggest you use a pencil just in case you die at level 1, lol.

Oh yeah, ALWAYS use a pencil! (or a finely crafted quill pen!)

I’ve got some on the way, nothing like the physical product. That said do we have any idea of release date for the PDFs?

The PDFs are complete, we just keep hitting technical snags with distribution. Sorry for the delay, should have news very soon.

I know you mentioned that they will be on the Paizo site but will they be on the Beadle and Grimm's site as well?

Probably not - at least not right away. We don't have a good mechanism for distributing PDFs and Paizo has an excellent storefront in place, so we will likely focus on that for the time being.

Still no luck with distribution? Not to pester but to demonstrate how keen I am to get my hands on these. Here in Australia I suspect we'll be waiting for the physical copies for a while yet - Damn that virus!

Dark Archive

Looks awesome, when I get around to making and playing the classes you have them out for I'll invest in the PDFs. I'll likely end up having the hard copies as well as this is something my wife would buy me for gift-giving occasions. Because she is looking over my shoulder as I go through all the images on the B&G site seeing how much I like them. Thank you for your hard work. I look forward to owning the product in the fairly close future.

I received mine some time ago and they look great. Instead of the dry erase tablets inside the back cover, would it be possible for future versions to have the inside front and back covers coated with the dry erase material? That way there is no way for them to become lost and they do not cause the book to be any bulkier.

That would be...an interesting challenge from a book binder's point of view (it would take a LOT of glue). And, I suspect, a very expensive prospect for the end user.

Thanks for the feedback! It's a super interesting idea, and one that we actually developed early on. The problem (other than cost) is that if you use the board and then close the book (or even close the "back" to look through the pages) the ink is pressed up against the last page, making a smudgy mess. There might be ways to address that, but it just started to snowball into a difficult technical challenge. More than happy to give it another look when we design future versions though. Thanks again!

See now I like that last bit...WHEN we design future versions! Could this mean ma Gunslinger is in wid a chance pilgrim?

I am very happy with the hardcover Wizard Chronicle I received from the Kickstarter, and I'm looking forward to buying PDF versions of all the classes once they're available. Just to put another vote in for adding a chronicle for bards, by doing so you would have one core class chronicle for each of the four spell lists.

Yeah I can't believe I double posted. genuinely didn't think the first had worked, wasn't showing up for me.

They're up now though so I'll take it easy on them now...

They look great by the way and I can see myself getting physical copies for my characters in the near future.

Hmmm the Druid and fighter ones don’t appear to be working. The files are only around 170 bytes and won’t open at all.

This has been a bug on the boards for quite some time.

You can check the list of threads after posting : your post will appear there, even if you do not see it immediately on the thread itself.

All of them are 170 bytes for me. Guy running the kickstarter is aware of the situation.

Checked a few times today, not fixed yet :P

Glad to see them in my digital items list though. One step closer to being able to fill out editable PDF's :D
