Pathfinder Society: Year 3 Announcement

Thursday, June 10, 2021

Two white haired, fetchlings in dark clothes wielding daggers face off against a fully armored goblin and a grey and white robed caster

Artist: Maurice Risulmi

With the Pathfinder Society’s attention focused on distant lands as of late, new threats have arisen closer to home. The Grand Lodge is suddenly overwhelmed with desperate calls for aid from lodges across the Inner Sea—and from the Society’s allies within the city of Absalom itself! Are these unrelated events, or a unified effort to undermine the Pathfinder Society? Whatever their origin, one thing is certain: if left unchecked, these threats may topple some of the Society’s greatest lodges and alliances!

Prepare for the Year of Shattered Sanctuaries.

Pathfinder Society year three symbol, shattered on the ground

artist Maurice Risulmi

A special image will indicate the scenarios that directly influence the Shattered Sanctuaries metaplot. Scenarios without this branding are stand-alone adventures that don’t tie directly to the events of the Year of Shattered Sanctuaries. The introduction to the metaplot is an adventure by Mike Kimmel (hey, that’s me!), titled “Year of Shattered Sanctuaries.” It’s a full-length scenario for characters of levels 1–4.

Paizo Art Team

The Year of Shattered Sanctuaries debuts at PaizoCon Europe Online 2021 (August 19–22), along with two other full-length introductory scenarios for characters of levels 1–2, much like the launch of Starfinder Society Year 4 at PaizoCon Online in May. Stay tuned for more information, and some answers to frequently asked questions, in next week’s blog!

Hungry for more info? Worried your sanctuaries are no longer safe?! (Hint: they’re not.) Tune into the Danger Club Podcast on June 16th at 11 am Pacific/7 pm GMT to hear me chat with Dan Thompson about Pathfinder Society Year 3! You can find the podcast at https://www.dangerclubpodcast.com/.

As always: explore, report, cooperate!

I'm very excited to see how this goes! PFS2 having a strong focus on the Society as an organization instead of as an excuse for PCs to adventure is one of my favorite parts about it.

Those... drow? kayal? attacking Sorrina are gonna get so wrecked.

Interesting to see the flags of the original factions on the wall still.

But I thought it was STARFINDER where the lodge was under attack...

I *love* this. I don't suppose there would be any way to find out what the planned level range for the meta-plot scenarios is there? I'm still playing catchup with OrgPlay due to COVID, would love to make sure I don't skip myself right past the tasty story cookies :P

So wait a sec: Was Lost Omen Pathfinder society guide's focus on fleshing out lodges a preparation for "Ya know we haven't done enough with all the lodges... SO LET'S HAVE THEM ALL BE IN TROUBLE AT SAME TIME!"? :'D

Yeah, I missed out on this part of PF1 OrgPlay. When I joined up we were already world championship fighting tournament winners and ganking named demon lords :P

I'm really excited to be in on the ground level and feeling like I'm just in an org.

Gotta go bail out the home lodge. Probably some side effect from the Blakros Museum. We really need to burn that place to the ground!

This is probably the fault of a certain antagonist, that too many Pathfinders fell for his sob story and went easy on him when given the chance.

I don't remember which scenario, but at least one mentioned all the artifacts inside the museum are alchemically and magically treated to prevent burning, from both acid and fire.

The shadows on those blades make me wonder if we are being hit by a literal shadow lodge i.e. from shadow Absalom!

What antagonist? :D You mean from 1e? x'D (if you are talking about the one I'm thinking of, I do think that would be bit of low blow from writers since that was pretty much written as "regardless of choice, this is the end" X'D Also kinda incentive "never trust writers, KILL EVERY ANTAGONIST WHEN THEY GIVE A CHOICE" :p

Another reason why I'm confused is that there were multiple antagonist in season ten you could let go)

If it's him, I want to go on record that I was out-voted at my table.

I've been waiting for that to come back to bite the Society ever since PF1 Season 10.

Dark Archive 4/5 *** Venture-Agent, Finland—Tampere

Anyhoo, if that is Onyx Alliance attacking Grand Lodge, I'm like "so wait did most players in season 10 vote to get involved in Blakros family squabble?" and "did most players vote to not ally with Onyx Alliance in 2e scenario that provided that option?" :D

Dark Archive 4/5 5/55/5

Yes definitely 1E and I believe the figure I was alluding to was the only choice that spawned a specific thread about the scenario in question, since it involved a number of PC choices with some consequence...
Onyx alliance probably makes more sense.
I think I continually forget Sonia is an Oread because I always think they should have a skin texture more like The Thing, or the cool crystalline variant. So her appearance basically looking the same as traditional Drow clashes.

5/5 *****

I definitely suspect Onyx Alliance here. Weren't they the ones that attacked the Grand Convocation way back when?

Question.

Is season 3 set to start when Gen Con was supposed to be in early Aug, or when it actually will be in Sept?
