Pathfinder Second Edition Humble Bundle

Wednesday, July 15, 2020

Last month, Paizo reiterated its commitment to diversity and racial justice; today, we’re launching a new Humble Bundle to support these values. The Pathfinder Second Edition Humble Bundle supports three nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting people of color. A portion of every bundle will benefit the Carl Brandon Society, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., and the National Urban League.

Graphic featuring the logos for the Carl Brandon Society, The NAACP, and the National Urban League.

The Carl Brandon Society seeks to expand racial and ethnic diversity in fiction. “We envision a world in which speculative fiction, about complex and diverse cultures from writers of all backgrounds, is used to understand the present and model possible futures; and where people of color are full citizens in the community of imagination and progress.”

“The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization in the fight for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks to achieve racial justice by enacting structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments.”

The National Urban League’s mission is “To help African-Americans and others in underserved communities achieve their highest true social parity, economic self- reliance, power, and civil rights. The League promotes economic empowerment through education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development, entrepreneurship, health, and quality of life.”

Purchasers can decide how much of their donation goes to each participant in the bundle by scrolling down to the bottom of the Humble Bundle page and clicking the “Choose where your money goes” header.

Paizo is including its most popular Pathfinder products in this bundle. You can get PDF copies of the Pathfinder Second Edition Core Rulebook, Bestiary, and Lost Omens World Guide, as well as enough adventures to keep you and your friends entertained for hours of epic gaming around the table or on virtual tabletop.

You can also unlock tons of accessories, and Humble Bundle is offering a reward tier for a physical copy of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook shipped right to your door! Shipping is fulfilled by Paizo, and you’re responsible for shipping fees. Complete instructions will be included in the email you receive from Humble Bundle.

Thank you for supporting Paizo’s commitment to creating a diverse gaming audience that is free of racial injustice. Through our continued efforts together, we hope to make the gaming world a better place than it was yesterday.

You can even re-download them if your tablet reanimates as a demitabletlich.

Is that a common problem?

This is a great cause, but I am super-leery of PDFs in general (what happens if my tablet dies? I have to buy all the stuff again!) and I will be GMing in person when the pandemic passes, so I have absolutely no use for PDF maps. Still, I hope you raise a lot of money!

As Mark and the others have said, you can just redownload your pdfs at any time after purchase.

I personally also have them stored in a cloud storage service so they'll be availabel to me pretty much indefinitely and I can load them on any device.

I'm old fashioned. I have a hard time paying money for something that's just a bunch of ones and zeros floating in the ether. I'll stick with my actual books. But I do hope you raise a lot of money for these worthy causes!

This is great thank you, I have always been wanting to start dnd but Im almost by myself all the time. I got the first tier and would like to know if theres a video or a guide that I can use to start learning about dnd with these basics

Thank you for your time have a great adventure

This community member has made a series of videos on YouTube about some of the basics of Pathfinder 2e. I haven't watched them all, but those I have have been very well done.

There are also actual-play streams on Paizo's Twitch channel where you can watch a group play through a real game. Here is this week's schedule.

That is assuming that you didn't buy the PDFs in question from WotC way back when.

But I don't recall any other company trying to pull that since then. Purple Duck Games pulled all of their stuff from this site a few years ago, but the PDFs that I bought from them before then are still accessible to me.

This actually has me a little worried. The last time I remember Paizo offering this was during the later part of the lifetime of PF1. But PF2 has only been out for one year and now this bundle is pretty much all of their PF2 product line.

Is this a sign that PF2 may not be doing as well as we hoped? I'm not asking this to disparage Paizo. With what is going on with Covid19 it's not exactly a good time for business in general.

2nd edition is doing quite well. It's the world that's not doing as well as we hoped. We front-loaded our strongest selling products in this humble bundle not because sales are lagging, but because sales for those books are the STRONGEST we have now and we wanted to use our strongest titles to benefit these charities as best we can.

I second this. The Basics4Gamers videos are great.

For live play, you can also seek out the Knights of Everflame or Oblivion Oath games.

Greetings,

Would someone be able to tell me what the shipping cost is for the top tier option? (inside the US)

Since shipping is fulfilled by Paizo, you ought to be able to drop a CRB in your shopping cart here and start the checkout process to see your shipping options and how much they cost. Just don't complete the order.

EDIT: Just did that and got a rate of $8.06 for standard postal delivery to my address in Texas.

Joana, thank you for the suggestion, I will try that.

Love that you guys do this! Normally love to humble bundle for the goodies, but will these codes be bundled for a full unlock or, for example, will the PDF's for the rule books be separate?

As a subscriber I have all of the rule books. I could use the maps, but would rather give the codes for the books to one of my kids so they can start up their own accounts and adventures.

Will likely still go in for 20$ to get the maps, but feels like the codes will be wasted as I already have all of the rule books in my digital library.

There is a code per tier.

Any chance there will be a code per book in future? Would love to gift duplicates to fellow players at my table.

Humbly,
Yawar

Is it possible to add other physical books from the Paizo store when you redeem the CRB using the HumbleBundle code? I'd like to take the opportunity to get other books in the same shipment.

That's a LOTTT of physical core rulebooks (potentially, anyway). I can't imagine they have that many left over, so perhaps a second printing with some errata is on the way? Donors have a year to redeem, looks like, but still.

There were hints of an imminent 2nd printing.

15000 bundles doesn't mean 15k CRBs being shipped. Not everyone needs the $30 tier of rewards.

Just took a look, and they are at 19k bundles sold right now!
Will surely break 20k in the next 16 days!

We're at 19671 bundels right now, with an average of €21.26 paid per bundle. I live in europe and have no idea how to switch the displayed currency to USD. For the record, the big pdf-bundle is €18 and the complete bundle with the physical CRB is €26.50.

The top 9 participants have paid between 100 and 200 USD, pulling this average up a bit. There's most likely also many people curious but not dedicated, who only get the first bundle for €4.50 to get the CRB pdf.

All things considered, I'd estimate that we're at MAYBE 5000 physical CRB copies going out from paizo via this bundle. Probably quite a bit less since the shipping costs are quite high outside of the US.

But no matter, it's for a worthy cause and I'm looking at in a positive light. More like "Paizo is doing well enough to give away sought after products for charity". Doing a HumbleBundle because of low sales is not a great idea anyway since every buyer can select where their money goes and could set it to nothing for Paizo.

Anyway, great bundle! And here's hoping for a second CRB printing including the second errata that should come out any day now. ... Right? ;)

20k bundles!

I'm glad I held off buying the CRB and B1 PDFs a few days before the bundle hit haha. Or, my wallet is. With the rise of online play (for me...) the maps are also a very welcome addition.

I also didn't have the Bigger Sewer Flip-Mat added to my Digital Contents, have heard something about that?

I send e-mail to customer service as I was on my phone and few times have lost my wall of text because of bad wonky mobile net when trying to write at Forum.

Haven't got any information about missing Bigger Sewer Flip-Mat, yet, from Customer Service.

The Bigger Sewer was added to my downloads, so it's not a universal problem.

I have Bigger Sewers added to my downloads as well.

Just for fun, from a cooped up math teacher who hasn’t been able to teach in six months, let's run some numbers . . . . Math in USD

As of right now, 21,650 bundles have been sold for $524,282.50, with an average of $24.22.

With an average price of $24.22, and because the bundle is a just so good with such a new product, I'm making the assumption that people are only buying $20 or $30 bundles. To make the math work, I need to make some assumptions.

So, to the math:

Subtract $4,282.50 for the "over the top" donations we have $520,000 in sales.

So let P represent the Physical 2nd ed CRB, then 21,650 - P is the number of bundles sold without a physical book.

Then our equation is $30 • P + $20 • (21,650 - P) = $520,000

Simplifying
30P + 433,000 - 20P = 520,000
10P = 87,000
P = 8,700

So, around 8,700 physical copies of the Pathfinder 2nd edition Core Rule Book have been sold. So about 40% of all bundles sold include a physical CRB.

Also, assuming most people don’t change the “Choose where your money goes” settings, then the breakdown of the giving is:
Paizo $314,469.50 (60%)
Charity: $78,642.38 (15%)
Humble Tip: $131,070.63 (25%)

There are several assumptions here and we will never see the actual data but it's fun to speculate and run the numbers.

Just My Thought

What a kind gesture towards diversity.

Interesting that only some people seem affected by this.
I have another issue with the Customer Service pending, I guess I'll mention the missing map when I get a reply for that.

Well, Bigger Sewer just appeared in my downloads, apparently added somewhen yesterday.
Thanks to who or whatever made that happen.
Now I have to think how to make my players wade through sewage.

Been there, done that. You don't want that stink at your table.

Also got my Bigger Sewer PDF added yesterday.

There’s a note at the bottom of the humble bundle page now saying the Rulebook is sold out and on backorder til the next printing in November. This may only apply to the Humblebundle books, tho.

26k bundles! That's video games numbers, comparable to the Warhammer 40k video game bundle (which has some really good stuff like Dawn of War I + II).

Hm...is there a way of upgrading a Humble Bundle purchase? If the next printing includes errata, the $30 tier just became more desirable to me.

There isn’t any guarantee that the next printing will incorporate errata. (They haven’t said whether it will or not).

In the PF1 era some reprints didn’t include errata (and they didn’t iterate the opening page, so the fact a new printing had occurred was invisible to us). The November reprint could be either kind at this stage.

Printings got divorced from errata in PF2. I believe you can assume that the 2nd printing will incorporate the first errata, but I wouldn't assume it will incorporate the second round if one is put out before the printingh. It could, it could not.

Also, this was a really smart way of dispatching the remnants of the first printing run from the warehouse ;-)

Unless the next errata round has some sweeping changes in it, I'm not too concerned about that. The first batch of errata had enough major changes that I'm eager for a new printing that incorporates the changes into the print.

My corebook for this just shipped!

12 hours to go and 45k bundles sold. I'd call it a success.

So, with the bundle done, how will we know if our corebook will be shipped soon, or in November? I grabbed it on day one and my order status is pending. Will the status change to something else if it's not going to be shipped in the relatively near future? Either way is fine, I just want to temper my expectations.
