Thursday, January 25, 2018

We're just little over a month away before the next hardcover addition to Starfinder releases! Starfinder Pact Worlds is your guide to the 14 major worlds at the heart of the Starfinder campaign setting. Before we start revealing the content of Pact Worlds, we wanted to show off the book's amazing new cover by artist Remko Troost!

This book will be full of information about the civilizations of the Pact Worlds system, new aliens, starships, and all kinds of options for your Starfinder game. What are you hoping made it into Pact Worlds, and what are you most excited about for Starfinder? Let us know in the comments!

Honestly, what I'm in it for are the starships and the equipment. I know that Armory is coming out soon, though and I figure that book will be more my speed, but right now I'll take whatever scraps I can get.

I wish the armory book were coming out earlier! We've got a campaign starting and I want to be able to take advantage of the equipment-based character options without having to re build my character a few months in. Alas!

I would definitely like to see more about the elves.

Aside from the Drow, did the other variant elves (Mwangi, Snowcaster, Mordant Spire, etc.) also survive? If so, where are they now?

Can we get some varied racial traits - similar to PF's Advanced Race Guide - so that not all elves are cut from the same template? The same goes for other races.

Also, what's up with the SF legacy version of elves not getting the Weapon Familiarity racial trait that they used to have in PF?!? I noticed that the legacy dwarves kept theirs. (If using PF's ARG system, dwarves are still an 11 RP race in SF, while elves were dropped from 10 RP to 8 RP.)

I'd love me a Mordant Spire pirate elf clan to be introduced in AGAINST THE AEON THRONE.

Once you are anti-Azlanti, you are anti-Azlanti for life!

I thought fourteen seemed high but then I counted them. If you include artificial structures, the diaspera, and the sun, but ignore moons and the ice belt, you get 14.

Vishkanya. They're practically a blank slate in Golarion lore* (since fleshing out Vudra doesn't seem within Paizo's foreseeable future) with great hooks into real world myth. It'd be nice to see them find a home in Starfinder, especially since you can do nearly anything with them lorewise.

(* I even wrote a vishkanya submission for Wayfinder back a ways.)

I'd also like to see the ganzi, tieflings, and skinwalkers brought fully into Starfinder too.

sorry for the long delay in response, but aside from what others in the comments have said, I am partial to seeing a tiefling along with the other races similar in nature to it.

Tieflings and Aasimar are two cool, but tricky, options.

Multiple energy resistances is too powerful at low to mid levels in a game where most weapons inflict some kind of elemental damage.

They could always just make it like the transitional ryphorian and have it be 2 fire and 2 cold.

God I hope this book covers basic modern world things like common LAWS on the various Pact Worlds planets. There's so much about them AS A SOCIETY that we just don't know yet.

Yeah, I was just thinking about how the laws for sentient AIs should work. How those play out would drastically affect how almost all of economics would work. I'm kind of assuming that AIs are legally people based on the amount and types of jobs that seem to be still held by, um, "actual" people, in the AP's. My only explanation is that AIs demand prices too high to do the work, and they're legally allowed to do that, because they're legal entities with rights. So basically, most companies stopped making/using them for most things and reverted to old school labor/humanish capital for a lot of tasks.

Also, information/clarification on laws that might impact adventurers directly, like gun laws, for example.

Preach.

+1 on gun laws, etc.!

I would really like to see grippli and tengu updates but I think what could be the most interesting for a new race is a race tied to the drift, either intentionally or as an accident, to be a sci-fa counter part of tieflings and aissimar. Natural navigators or extremely logical minded?
