Thousands of years in Pathfinder's future... and death still exists? Raise dead is not obsolete (no cheap cloning, IA back ups, personalities stored digitally and downloaded into new sleeves...). Bummer.
Thanks for the nice blog post!
We tried to make returning to death less expensive, but we found our spell components flooded with cheap knock-off materials. Before we knew it, we had accidentally raised an army of improperly raised adventurers that became one of the new galactic threats.
Nope nope, from now on we restore life by the book.
Apparently onyx isn't a substitute for diamond dust—who knew?!?

I think there's a typo, "A character can only benefit from one copy of this book at a time."
That said, I'm wondering if its more likely a similar platform replacement will appear or if a First Seeker would get reelected if people really like specific Second Seeker modes.
Edit: wow, ninja'd by several posts.

I'm a little unsure of how changing First Seekers season to season would work for us grunts.
If I get that boon for First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo one season and then the next season a new First Seeker gets elected does the boon no longer function?
In the next season when First Seeker Bob is elected, if there was a boon for First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo last season could I still get it if I stick with the old First Seeker?

When First Seeker Bob gets elected, then Second Seekers (Bob) becomes a new faction. We want players to know going into the Second Seekers, that the term of a specific First Seeker eventually comes to an end. Now, that doesn't that Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo) can't keep gaining Reputation or benefiting from the cool boons they've acquired, but it does mean that there probably won't be any Luwazi Elsebo themed missions in the future.

I'm OK with this, because to me, in order to be part of the human(oid) experience, death still needs to be something to be feared, rather than being as off-putting as a minor car repair. "No guts, no glory" still needs meaning.

Also, it's nice to know name, alignment, and deity of whoever's trying to bring you back. Reliability is highly valued in Life-and-Death situations.

I like this faction because it's basically the exact opposite of the Shadow Lodge: "The Starfinders are exploiting us to achieve their goals...exactly according to plan!"
Several of the background concepts in creating this faction—and the in-world Starfinder Society's structure as a whole—were to build in a much stronger sense of upward mobility and provide more transparency overall. Every First Seeker has risen through the ranks, received the overall approval of her peers, and laid out a plan of action that her colleagues have vetted. Yes, Second Seekers often see serving the First Seeker's goal as a worthy enterprise that contributes to the Society's understanding and/or well being, but they also value the reciprocity of someone having served the Society and earning the service of those who would aspire to become First Seeker themselves one day.

That's a straight up good idea, especially when you remember how comparatively little we know about the Pathfinders and how murky and unpleasant that can be. To my recollection, we've never actually an in character appearance by the Decemvirate in any scenario, module, or AP and the funny thing is...I don't think we ever will. It's possible that one day our characters will have climatic battle with the Aspis Prophet and his minions on top of a burning clock tower while the Tarrasque he summoned destroys Korvosa but when that battle is over and we're getting rewards and Chronicle sheets, I'm betting we still wouldn't get a personal meeting from the Council of Ten because they'll be too busy plotting another way for use to risk our lives.

Curious I am subscribed to the Starfinder Society Roleplaying guild Scenarios but I see my subscription starts with 1-01 - Commencement. Do we get 1-00 as part of our subscription as well?
On topic an interesting faction I am liking these more and more and I am very curious to find out what happened during the Scoured Stars incident.

Huh... looks like a lot of you have interest in voting for the First Seeker.
Seems odd.
I'd have guessed there'd be more people with aspirations to BECOME the First Seeker. I mean, that could be possible... right? :)
I assume that to be First Seeker you must first be a Seeker.
Since all we have are 1st level characters, I don't see that happening very soon.
But yes, I would love to see the chance for one of my characters to actually be First Seeker!
Just as I hope one day be a Venture Captain....

Nah, never be the one in the spotlight, be the one they are beholden to for their position so they enact your will without any potential fallout coming your way.

Once we've had time to learn enough about the setting for our PCs to have an agenda worth putting forth, we'll be clamoring for power soon enough. :)

The best mission briefing I ever got was for a 7-11 where you are briefed directly by one of the ten. It was certainly an important enough mission for it. It was also my first time at Gencon so the atmosphere of the room probably contributed to it.
There's also Seeker content were you interact with them directly.

A bit offtopic here, but there is at least one module in which you are briefed/hired by a member of the decemvirate.
To my knowledge that's roughly the only one.
And it's real quick too. If I remember, it's not an extensive scene.
I can think of at least 3 others off the top of my head.
The Waking Rune
Siege of Serpents
Eyes of the Ten (Arguably, parts 2-4)
