Announcing the Season of the Righteous

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

We hope you're enjoying the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild's "Season 0" trial run, Season of the Shackles. All six adventures will be available for purchase as of April 15, and we'll soon be making a Season of the Shackles deck available for purchase as a print-on-demand product at DriveThruCards.com. That deck will feature all the new cards we created for the season, so you won't have to use proxy cards if you don't want to. The Adventure Path loot reward Councilor's Ring will also be available at DriveThruCards.com at the same time.

We've learned a lot from Season of the Shackles, and we'll be applying that experience to make the next season of Adventure Card Guild play even better. Season 1, dubbed Season of the Righteous, will premiere with the launch of the Wrath of the Righteous Base Set on May 27.

Here's the planned schedule for the season:

Iconic Heroes Promo Cards

Season 1 will also allow characters to use promo cards from WizKids' Pathfinder Battles: Iconic Heroes miniatures line. Set 1 and Set 2 are available now, and at least four more sets will follow.

Each Adventure Card Guild character can treat the promo card that belongs to the iconic for her class as if it was in her Class Deck. For example, Wu Shen, a character from the Rogue Class Deck, would be able to take the item Footpad's Boots for any B or better deck upgrade, since we treat the set indicator P as 0.

If you're playing Merisiel in the Adventure Card Guild, you'll be in even better shape. Because Merisiel is listed as the card's owner, she can treat the Footpad's Boots as if that card has the Basic trait. That means she can start play with that card in her deck!

Change to Feat Progression

The biggest change to the PFSACG organized play system is a response to the feedback we've received from event organizers concerning the difficulty of mustering tables at small- and medium-sized events. Players from different local tables sometimes need different scenarios, but it can be difficult to backtrack and catch up. We hear that concern, and we're tinkering with ways to alter feat progression that will ease mustering problems. Details will come in the next version of the PFSACG Guide to Organized Play. In the coming days, we'll also be working closely with the organized play campaign's venture-officers to refine ideas and deliver the best possible experience for the first full season of the program.

New Guide to Organized Play

What a segue! That's right, the card game team is working on an updated version of the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild Guide to Organized Play. This version of the guide will feature the update to promo cards mentioned above, as well as details on how the Wrath of the Righteous Base Set's mythic paths will be used in Adventure Card Guild play. We're also adding sections that explain how to fill out a Chronicle sheet, simplify the deck upgrade process, and address characters that want to play both Season 0 and Season 1. All the detail-oriented, rules-lawyering fun your greedy little heart could ask for will be coming to you through a download in mid-May.

Free Base Set Program for Retailers Continues

Retailers loved our free base set program as a way to get people into their stores and playing in the Adventure Card Guild, so we're continuing the program with the Season of the Righteous. Game stores that have registered with Paizo's retailer locator will be contacted in the next few weeks with details about how to get a free Wrath of the Righteous Base Set. If your store hasn't signed up, you'd best get to it!

Until next time, Pathfinders.

Totally awesome. I am excited to see what tweaks you come up with for the system.

That's great!

First I've heard of the free base set promotion and we've been signed up for the entire Season of Shackles.

Then definitely contact Customer Service, crasher. :)

Do you still have the email that was sent when you signed up to the program as a retailer?

I'm sad that Canada store won't have this opportunity for the Free Base Set Program for Retailers.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Sorry—import duties make it possible that sending free copies to non-US retailers could end up costing more than just buying a copy at wholesale from their distributor. (Also, the shipping costs on our side would be pretty terrible.)

Will you be holding PFACGG events at cons? I was hoping to see Tanis and friends doing guild events at Origins (early June), but I haven't seen anything in their listings so far...

Adventure Card Game Designer

Yep, I'm still working on Origins. :) We've got a full Gen Con slate as well, and PaizoCon, etc. etc.

But is Wu Shen ANY MATCH for Wu Fong (aka an epic traveling monk of legend who brought WONTON SOUP to Golarion)?

Very excited for new season. Will start season play at Go4Games in New Orleans area right after PaizoCon! Please message me if interested or contact Mac at Go4Games.

This is awesome! And adventure 1-2 as a compiled pdf would come out on my bday if it sticks to the planned schedule. That would make for a wonderful bday week of playing with Pathfinder with the rest of the group!

Does this mean there's an adventure 6 for Season of the Shackles (based on WotR thread above I'd say yes)? It's the 15th, and I didn't see any new downloads available. Adventure 0-5 "Out of Guns" is listed as the latest release.

It's in the process of becoming available for sale now.

Hot off the digital press.

Just as an FYI:

-While the link for the 6th adventure for Season of Shackles works. It is not currently listed at: http://paizo.com/pfsacg/products/season0. Which means much digging has to be done to find it.

And as a random curiosity, is there any plan to have a combined PDF for all of the adventures 0-6?

@mercy

Simply use acrobat and the merge function to obtain ONE file

If you are looking to grab the latest PDF, you might want to use the current one time discount code, if you aren't going to be making any other purchases soon.

Acrobat Pro won't let you; these files are protected so that you can't insert or extract pages from them.

That is the wrong programme for this action then.

Download Ghostscript and GHOSTVIEW. With the latter you may do it ...
Both programmes are freeware!

I also want to archive it including the pacgG instructions manual. Just merge all into one file for smart storage.

Good luck!

Ps: in the worst case you have to print the original pdf with ghostview again into a new pdf file which is then editable and mergable with the other adventure files.

OP SS cards come all in one package? Or do you have to order the loot card separately?

See:

Sovereign Court

The deck is one product of all the OP cards, including the Councilor's Ring. The Ring is also available separately, because people who play, but don't run, the game have no need for the other cards 99% of the time.

I hope there's a revised Skull & Shackles correction deck in the works too. It'd be nice to save on shipping by combining orders for the revised S&S cards and Season of the Shackles decks.

My question on the councillor's ring is i f it is a loot Six does that mean we don't get to use it for season of the righteous until adventure deck six?

I don't have the link but Vic posted somewhere on the boards that it was an error and would be adjusted to B with the basic trait.

Adventure Card Game Designer

Yes, the version at DriveThru will have a set indicator of B.

Mike Selinker wrote:

Was just about to ask about using the Councillor's Ring in SotR, and there we go. Thanks!

To clarify, will it be a B with the Basic trait (so players can start with it right off the bat) or just a Basic (so you can get it with an upgrade)?

Basic trait, set indicator B.

Splendid. Thanks for the rapid response, Vic!

Have retailers been contacted about the free base set program? It has been a few weeks and I just want to make sure we didn't miss the email somewhere.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

The email hasn't gone out yet—that should happen in the next couple days.

Is the program still on pace for May 27 early release? Our group plays on Mondays and I've already got my base set; we could theoretically start tomorrow if we had materials.

Yup, 1-1A and 1-1B should be up this week.
