The lid opening is the can or worms, or the chest and mimic resembling each other (aside from the contents under the lid and the name under the base)?
the Lamashtu thugs got mixed up (Thug 1: crossbows, Thug 2: daggers)
identical looking minis? Wouldn't be surprised if half of both got the wrong base glued on.

Was that a production issue or an issue with the figure list for the set? I got the appropriate number (4-5) of each thug, so it's not like I got 7 with crossbows and 2 with daggers. I think that's more of an issue with the bad naming choice for the figures leading to the mix-up, which wouldn't happen with "chest" and "mimic".
The chest and mimic could also be set in an open state in the plastic backing, making it easy to identify exactly what it was.
Of course, having the chest and the mimic appear the same w/ the lid closed obviously isn't happening, but it would have been very useful if it had (all mimics could stand in for chests, so now you get more than the 1 or 2 you may get).

It was an issue with the pictures in the shop not matching the base.
If you ordered a case it didn't matter.
Looks like I was the first to order only one type of thug (crossbows).
I prefer the dynamic organic look of the mimic as it is.
It probbably is also the closest we'll ever get to Pterrys "Luggage".

I really like the idea of the dungeon dressings (the Sarcophagus is awesome), but does the chest really have a base?
I actually add bases to little diorama tid-bits I pick up and turn into minis. That way it blurs the line about what is dangerous or not. Players walk into a room, see minis with bases... buff spells! Oh, wait, it's just a sofa?! Priceless.

This is why I add bases to many things. Keeps them guessing. LOL
