Announcing PaizoCon 2014—July 4-6!

Monday, December 2, 2013

Get ready for 3 days of some serious Paizo fun! Gaming, panels, workshops, costumes, and exciting Pathfinder news await you at PaizoCon 2014. Meet-up with members of the Paizo staff, community members and fans, and dozens of veteran authors, artists, publishers, and designers from the gaming industry.

Those attending PaizoCon 2014 have the opportunity to participate in an event lottery for a chance to game with their favorite Paizo staff member, be a part of a grand adventure and participate in Pathfinder Society events, attend the annual PaizoCon banquet, and laugh and learn at one of the many panels featured at the convention.

The convention will be held at the Seattle Airport Marriott. We encourage all of our attendees to stay at the Seattle Airport Marriott in order to remain close to the daily gaming action.

This year we also have a new badge option available to parents of young gamers. The Kid's 3-Day Badge is available to children 10 and under for $25 and grants them the ability to participate in Pathfinder Society and other non-lotteried events!

Previous PaizoCon attendees will know that we hold an annual banquet where we announce upcoming Paizo and Pathfinder news! This year is no different and tickets to the PaizoCon Preview Banquet are available for $25. These are limited in number so purchase your ticket soon!

Please note that a regular 3-Day Badge will be required for purchasing a Kid's 3-Day Badge and/or Banquet Ticket.

If you have any questions about the PaizoCon 2014 (including hotel information), please check our FAQ! More information and announcements about PaizoCon will be available as the convention date gets closer.

We're all looking forward to PaizoCon 2014 here in the office. Get ready, get set, go get your PaizoCon 2014 tickets!

The stories of the room block's demise are greatly exaggerated (I just reserved my room ;) ).

Managed to swap my booking through a phone call. Very nice man at the end was quite cheerful considering I forgot about the 8hr time difference and it was 4am for him *oops*

Saved me a tidy sum.... so there is definitely still rooms available in block.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this year. I am hoping to make at least one of these eventually.

So, the MLP convention is going to be in the same place again!

I know everyone was wondering that question.

I loved going in 2011 and 2012. I missed out last year because of a drastic change in income. Unless there is a positive change in income I can't make it this year.

Tough times, but I am working hard on fixing that.

Liberty's Edge

We've got to work up some sort of crossover with the bronies. Goblins vs. Ponies bowling match or something.

A Gamer Nerd Vs. Brony game triathlon. Three events that test mind, body, and skill. The champion team wins a cool trophy.

Just purchased tickets and booked the room. I booked the 3rd through 6th just incase there is a meet & greet party this year. I missed out last year.

Okay two things I can't seem to find answers to.

1. It appears that the banquet is seating first come first serve for those with tickets, is this correct and how much of my day to I need to plan on standing in a line to get in and seated with my wife?

2. I am unclear about how playing PFS adventures works. Can my wife and I both play at the same table? Do we need to do something special, I thought I saw something about a buddy pass but can't find it.

After buying tickets, there is a way to reassign one of them to your wife. (you may be able to do that now.) (edit: I just checked, I have purchased tickets, but they are not yet in my "e-tickets" under "account" when logged in ... once they become e-tickets I will be able to reassign one of them to my kid.)

When they set up event selection (not yet) you will be able to select one "buddy". Then, for all events, you will only get it if there is a spot for two. While this makes it a little less likely to get any given spot, you are guaranteed to be with your buddy. This worked great for me and my kid, we got in together for some session for every time slot and had a great time.

Okay that helps thank you. What about the lottery to play with one of the celebrity judges?

We have booked the 2014 dates (obviously), but for 2015 and beyond, we are in final negotiations on a new hotel. And the dates won't be the 4th of July weekend. At least that is what it looks like right now. For 2015 and beyond. So if you can't make the 4th of July next year, don't fret. There is a very good chance that the dates beyond that won't be the 4th of July. :) Of course, I can't guarantee that those dates will work for everybody either. :)

I Actually liked that it is on the 4th of July weekend. Makes it easier for me to attend this year.

It's the same. The celebrity events are pretty difficult to get into (for anyone), and again, slightly more for pairs. I've been two years now, once as a single and once with a buddy. Both times I was probably to picky on my selections as I have not gotten into a celebrity game. I have gotten full events (painting reapers, and two terrain classes with Sean K. Reynolds).

Process: Try for the celebrity (and other limited) events with a "buddy". Once you see what you have there you can try to fill the rest with PFS (with buddy.) For any other open slots, I heard it you could show up with time to spare before each session and you could possibly find an event.

EXPECT to get only one or if you are lucky two of the celebrity/lotteried events. And to help, be open to most any type of game, but rate your preference accurately. (You mark each event from 1-5 for how much you want it.) They simply walk through each applicant ... when they get to a person they give them their highest desired slot that is not yet full. Once they have gone through everyone, they start at the top and do it again.

We are currently experiencing an issue with the My eTickets where PaizoCon 2014 badges are not displaying there. We expect to have a fix rolled out late January or early February at which point you will be able to transfer tickets.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
