My current thoughts are that we might stage several Meet and Eats in the Town Center. Lots of restaurant options....Claim Jumper, Desert Fire, Haiku, Golden Chopsticks, Matts' Rotisserie & Oyster Lounge, Spazzo Italian Grill & Wine Bar, Thai Ginger....well, heck! Check out the options!!I'm not sure what the plan will be, but we will try to arrange something for that Thursday night!
I am fully in favor of one location. It's always been cool to go to the meet and greet to hang out with Paizo employees and the lesser gaming celebrities. If you break it up, all the "cool" people will go to one or two places. The meet and greet really starts the feel of con - I think without it - or with groups and cliques separating, the con will start off differently. Less of a community and more closed off to the average gaming fan.

I think I'll do a Kickstarter "fund Gorbacz's visit to Paizocon so you can punch him in the face in person".
Providing I'll get a visa, that is.
Do the various donation level benefits include multiple punches and/or the use of various blunt objects? ;)
Seriously though, set it up, post the link and I'll kick in.

hey, is the reduced rate only for the days on the Con itself? I was thinking I would like to get in a day or two of actually checking out Seattle this time.
Per the FAQ:
Is there a discount for rooms booked at the hotel?
Yes. The PaizoCon room rate at the Redmond Marriott Town Center is $85.00. To be eligible for this discount, rooms must be booked by June 13th. The special PaizoCon room rate is good for reservations made between Wednesday, July 4th, to Monday, July 9th. To book a room with this special rate, reservations must be made over the phone.

Noted. And you voiced my largest concern...DON'T SPLIT THE PARTY.

It is getting to the point, though, where PaizoCon not only outgrew the previous venue, but the masses attending the Meet n' Eat may outgrow any single location, as well. There's going to come a time when one restaurant just won't be able to handle the crush (not unless you do multiple seatings). So, one idea might be to turn it into more of a hosted party/event like the Paizo banquet and have food brought in, rather than going out. Either that, or maybe you could cap the attendance by having folks register for it like any other event during the registration period for games, panels, etc.
Also, I personally wouldn't be averse to seeing multiple Meet n' Eat events/parties crop up at several different locations. Maybe even on different nights during the whole convention. It would be kind of like the various gaming companies throwing parties at the same time on the night before GenCon...or on different nights during that weekend. Only, these would all take place at PaizoCon and be arranged by some enterprising local attendees rather than individual gaming companies.
Or, maybe rent out multiple party rooms at various restaurants and then let folks do a restaurant "crawl" so to speak to check in on each gathering? Register up front and sell tickets to the event so you can pay all the restaurants ahead of time to just keep the food and appetizers coming while folks mingle and do the whole Meet n' Greet while they Eat. I've attended some professional events with my wife before where restaurants set aside rooms for such things.
Or not. I don't know. Just some "food" for thought, I guess.
My two cents,
--Neil

D'oh, missed that.

I like Neil's idea!
Last year I missed the Meet and Eat 'cause I had "biz meeting" which I could not miss... :(. Multiple events may increase the chance of more people going :)

Mike what is taking you so long, why isn't the volunteer GM request for PFS not up yet? ;)
Edit: Mike while on that subject that you most likely have a lot of time before you need to worry about, make sure you look at Mark's lessons learned list from PaizoCon and GenCon.

We have a date when the room blocks will be ready at the hotel for reservation?
Hmmm ... I just got off the phone with them and they told me they don't even have record of a room block for any convention (PaizoCon or otherwise)during that time ...
Hopefully someone at Paizo can get with their contact at the hotel and figure out what is going on ...

ARGH! five weeks after Origins, five weeks before Indy. So, that's $1800 airfare times three, plus $1800 airfare per kid for whichever con(s) they want to be at. There goes any chance of buying whatever it is Vic can't even tell us about.
On the upside, school holidays start on the 6th of July, so the high schooler can miss a couple of days of school to be at Paizocon. And uni is on mid year break, so the "big" kids don't need to skip classes.
Question for the organisers. If my wife comes along for the ride(she doesn't game, but we might make a family holiday out of it and see Puget Sound stuff) can I get her a banquet ticket? As in, if I get four con badges can I get five banquet tickets? The FAQ isn't crystal on that.

In order to transfer the banquet ticket to another user, the second user needs to have a 3-day badge on their account.
Actually, you might be able to transfer it to another account, but if they don't have a 3-day badge it won't be usable.

Thank you, care bear :)
So, a different question. Will there be a game slot at the same time as the banquet?

FWIW, I took my non-gaming wife with me last year, and we had a blast -- she joined me in a lot of the seminars, dined with me at the banquet, and really enjoyed meeting the Paizo staff members.
She also took the opportunity to learn to paint a mini or three with Brian and Shannon of Reaper Miniatures, plus she'd never been to Seattle so we did a little bit of sightseeing.

Thunder-
Ask your wife if she remembers seeing a 6 year old little boy painting at that table for hours at a time. That would be none other then FGG's own Bill Webb's youngest tadpole. Kid sat there for an 7-8 hour stretch, just painting minis. Reaper takes care of the young and old!

THIS. IS. AWESOME.
Love the July dates.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the new location. Redmond Town Center is the absolute BEST location to do this. Great restaurants. A game store.
We are even close to the Malt and Vine for Friday night!! W00t!
As the location has moved, we will need to reevaluate the Thursday night Meet and Eat event, as well!
Well done, Paizo....WELL DONE.
I saw the new location as well, it looks fantastic:D
My suggestion was going to be the Afk Tavern, http://www.afktavern.com/, for a meet and greet, but its in Everett :(

If Mike doesn't want it, can I have it?
So I played at your table last year, you going to finally try to survive one of my tables this year?

LOL -- true, that.
I should start marketing shirts: "I did not die at Kyle Baird's table and all I got was this lousy masterwork T-shirt."

I am excited about this. While my job has not really changed my vacation blackout of June1-July15 has gone away. I see we can get to hotel on July 4. Does Seattle (or any other nearby cities) have any good 4th of July shows? I hesitate to use great as I grew up just outside DC.
