I had a great time running this for everyone and some really GREAT players! Thanks again to Megan, Tim, Dawn, Malcolm, Scott, Matthew, Nathan, Amanda, Jeremy, Bill, and Tom. Not a single PC death (yeah, I know that disappointed Josh terribly). But it was a good thing. No one wants the Shadow of the Fellnight Queen establishing a foothold on Golarion. Trust me. ;-)

I had lots of fun with this one. I was most impressed with the detail in character background stories and their relationship to their companions as well as their surroundings. I hope to be in a game with you in the future. In the meantime, it's time for me to read "Blood For Blood".

:D

Sovereign Court

I had a great time playing Sir Navarrus Wint! Especially watching his summoned celestial eagle ripping into the Fellnight Queen's shadow with two crits and a smite! Thanks again for a great game, Friday nighters. :)

Scarab Sages

I echo Bill's sentiments. It was an incredibly well run session and it was great to have some enough character background to be able to role play alongside the action.

BTW. Like an idiot, I didn't grab your email. I have a couple of ideas to run by you with the possible Fellknight Queen stage adaption concept. You can contact me from here:

Thanks again, and I look forward to talking to you soon.

Any hope for a PDF?

Scarab Sages

That is actually a good point about the PDF. The adventure was a great hook for the actual module. It also leaves some time in between for characters to achieve 7th level and make a few more local connections.

Neil has really created an intriguing slice of Golaria.

I had a great time. I would love to keep a party going on with this story. I would totally buy a PDF of this game to run with Neil's other module (and maybe step into the first world after that). Agian I had a great time. Thanks Neil!

This was one of the highlights of my weekend as well. And Neil, thank your wife once again for the fantastic gaming tools she made. I really liked the pog-like 'minis'.

That's something I picked up from another GM at a convention game several years ago. He provided these nicely detailed, interconnected backgrounds for his pregen PCs so it would help players immediately get into roleplaying, because they'd have an understanding of how they viewed one another. And, of course, it also sets up the rest of the adventure's primary story arc with foreshadowing or clues into what's likely just around the corner. :-)

Likewise. I LOVED the enthusiasm all you guys brought to the roleplay elements of the characters. And your approach with Lazlo the rock-obsessed gnome was awesome! Same goes for Dawn/Dark Sasha who played him in the first session. She even brought along a "pet rock" to use as a prop at the table! :-D

Cool. Feel free to comment on it in the product discussion thread once you've read it through. Every bit of feedback helps me refine my design approach for future stuff I might write. So I appreciate it all.

Hah! Yeah, that celestial eagle was brutal on the poor Fellnight Queen's shadow. A more timely (and effective!) use of a summon monster I spell, I have never seen! And it was also really GREAT seeing you again, Elora. Best wishes to you and your family on the cross-country move.

Dude, it would be SO awesome to see you adapt Fellnight Queen for one of your plays. If there's anything I can do to help, I'm at your service!

Email sent. Look forward to hearing from you...

I actually spoke with some of the Paizo folks about spinning Shadow of the Fellnight Queen into another module...or maybe just a half-sized 16-page module like the Free RPG Day giveaways. Or even a full 32-page module if I can tack on some more encounters and plot elements. I also have ideas about a sequal to Realm of the Fellnight Queen. So...yeah...lots of possibilities there. But if people want something like that, all they've got to do is let Paizo know. They've consistently shown they listen to everyone here on the boards.

And I'm having an absolute blast with it! I'm also looking forward to the First World gazeteer that will appear in Kingmaker #6. That article alone should spark several new ideas for where a Fellnight Queen sequel could go.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Matt. And it was also great meeting one of the 2009 Top 4 RPG Superstar brothers in person. You're the first I've met face-to-face. Hope you make it back for PaizoCon 2011. And maybe I'll have something new to run that involves this storyline. :-)

Will do. And thank you for joining the game! If I recall correctly, your elf significantly helped to win the day against the Fellnight Queen's shadow...once you switched from your bow to your rapier, that is... ;-)

Thanks again, everyone! I'll have lots of gaming memories from both of these sessions. And I'll file them away with every other awesome moment from PaizoCon.

Sincerely,

Hey all, first time I've been at a computer since the con, and I just wanted to say that this game was an absolute blast. I was so happy to draw into this mod, and had a great time chatting with Neil about writing the product. I'd be anxious for a pdf of this as well, though I suppose I remember enough of it to run it again if I was desperate to.

Had a lot of fun at this, loved playing my character, and hope to get in another game with you again at next years PaizoCon (its looking like this will become an annual "mecca" for my group).

+1 to all that. Your game was the highlight of the con for me. Thanks, again.

And thanks, again, to Elora for the yummy sandwiches!

Damn, now I want a PDF more than ever.

Neil, are you destined to become Paizo's Fey-guy?

Wait, that doesn't sound anything like I intended.

Awesome! Thanks, Malcolm!

Matthew Morris wrote:

Turning the prequel into a PDF is pretty unlikely. It would take just as much effort to do that as an actual print module from the developer's standpoint. So, if Paizo was going to go that far, they might as well turn it into an adventure module. See if you can convince them to let me create such a thing and I'd be happy to oblige your interest in more of the Fellnight Queen. ;-)

I doubt it. Richard Pett is about to launch his own take on the fey in the final installment of Kingmaker, and I'm sure it will rock. And, there are plenty of people who probably prefer the Nic Logue/Tim Hitchcock characterization of fey from A Carnival of Tears. As designers, we're all pretty much putting our unique spin on them.

That said, I do really enjoy exploring the Fellnight fey. I think I could spin tales involving them for quite some time.
