Harrow: Past, Present, and Future
For years the Harrow has been the domain of home games, literature, and lore, but due to a combination of the soft time limits inherent in organized play, the range of ways in which someone might cheat with a deck-based mechanic, and a wealth of other considerations that predate my work at Paizo, most Harrow-based options were never allowed. When Mike and I heard that Pathfinder Player Companion: The Harrow Handbook was on the product schedule, we started pondering how we might share as much of this book as possible with the campaign. We bounced ideas off a lot of folks, and in the end we decided to make legal nearly everything in the book as well as several previously banned Harrow character options such as the harrower prestige class from Pathfinder Campaign Setting: The Inner Sea World Guide and the oft-requested Deadly Dealer feat from Pathfinder Player Companion: Varisia, Birthplace of Legends. Expect an update to the Additional Resources page that includes these additions.
Quest Cards
The relatively new Campaign Cards sets from the Pathfinder Cards line include quest cards, which tie directly into the corresponding adventure. So far we've seen Pathfinder Cards: The Dragon's Demand Campaign Cards, which tied in to Pathfinder Module: The Dragon's Demand, and Pathfinder Cards: Wardens of the Reborn Forge Campaign Cards to complement Wardens of the Reborn Forge. We're also going to have sets for the upcoming RPG Superstar module Tears at Bitter Manor, and the hardcovers super dungeon The Emerald Spire!
Campaign Cards of the Reborn Forge
Since Golarion is mostly a fantasy world, it's not every day that Paizo brings in new treats for the gear-and-steam set. If you're looking for something a little more scientific, a little more modern, and a little more sooty and gritty, look no further than Pathfinder Cards: Wardens of the Reborn Forge Campaign Cards! Though this set is made specifically to go with Pathfinder Module: Wardens of the Reborn Forge, it's plenty useful for anyone who wants to run a steampunk-themed or Western-themed game. We'd love it if everything took place around Alkenstar—and hey, the module has a write-up of the city to help you out—but we won't judge if you send your Pathfinders off to Victorian England or the Wild West! (If you send them to the Wild Wild West, we might judge you a little bit. But only a little bit.)
What... Is Your Quest?
So those of you who've had a chance to check out our newest adventure module, The Dragon's Demand, have doubtless noticed changes to the module format. The biggest change is, of course, the expansion in size from 32 pages to 64 pages, but there's other changes as well. Each module will contain a two-sided poster map, for one--The Dragon's Demand features a poster map of the town of Belhaim on one side and the town's amphitheater (mapped out at minis scale) on the other. We'll be presenting more than one new monster in each adventure, and each adventure will also come with a longer support article for a region, location, organization, or the like (in The Dragon's Demand, this is a four page overview of the town of Belhaim, including a huge chart of what most of the buildings in town are for, who lives there, and how well they interact with each other and with PCs).
Dress for Success
We went a slightly different direction with our newest deck of Pathfinder Cards, Iconic Equipment. Sure, we could have put together another set full of cool, general use items&mdasha neat glaive, a shark themed suit of hide armor, another quiver full of arrows, whatever&mdashor we could give you a collection that's provably awesome. And you know it's awesome because we're not talking about just any gear, we're talking about the weapons and equipment the Pathfinder iconic characters have been kicking ass with across dozens of adventures, covers, comics, and more!
Enhance Your Game with the Shattered Star Face Cards!
I'm a big fan of Face Cards. In my own games I have used cards from multiple sets both to depict NPCs and to inspire creatively blocked players during character generation. Face Cards add a lot of depth and color to any game. The Shattered Star Face Cards, available now, are no exception! These cards depict notable characters from the Shattered Star Adventure Path, but the faces are also intriguing and evocative even if, like me, you haven't had the chance to play though Shattered Star yet.
