Paizo Welcomes the Glass Cannon Podcast to the Family!

Thursday, June 15, 2017

You might have been hearing rumors here and there...rumblings of an agreement between Paizo and the incredibly entertaining Glass Cannon podcast. Well today, we are proud to confirm that the Glass Cannon Podcast is now an official Paizo podcast!

Mike Kenway and Troy Lavallee with the document to make it official!

For those that don't know, the Glass Cannon Podcast is an actual-play RPG podcast that has been playing the Giantslayer Adventure Path. We've been fans of the show since the beginning and it was only a matter of time before we teamed up and made it official. Making this announcement today is extra special because it also marks their two-year anniversary.

GM Troy Lavallee serves as a ringmaster of sorts to rest of the group. "It was presumptuous from the start to imagine that anyone would enjoy listening to five guys sit around improvising while playing a tabletop role-playing game every week" says Lavallee. Fellow cast members Joe O'Brien, Skid Maher, Grant Berger, and Matthew Capodicasa all work perfectly together to create a unique podcast experience.

To learn more about the Glass Cannon crew, their about page can be found here. New episodes of their game go up every Tuesday at 12:01 AM Eastern, while their other show, Cannon Fodder (a sort of Q&A/recap show) goes up every Thursday at 12:01 AM Eastern. You can subscribe on iTunes or head to their site for the full archive of shows. For best results, we recommend starting with Episode 1 so you can follow along with all of the adventures.

"I'm so excited to be officially partnering with Paizo - not only for the very selfish reason that I'll get to keep spending time in their worlds, but also so that we can all continue to tell weird and wonderful stories together." says Matthew Capodicasa.

We couldn't agree more, welcome to the family!

Go check them out! I find myself choosing to listen to this podcast instead of catching up on my various tv shows, and getting excited at the prospect of an 8 hour drive where I can listen!

This is amazing!! I have dropped nearly all my other podcasts to listen to these guys. The storytelling is absolutely amazing and the only thing better would be to physically sit in a room and watch (missed my chance with GCP Live!)

I've never played PF and I'm stoked to begin playing, soon, I hope! And it's all because of these lovable goofballs.

Keep it up, fellas!

This is great news, these guys put on a great show that really complements the Pathfinder RPG!

I just started listening about a week ago. This is my go-to podcast for entertaining myself while making commutes and mowing the lawn. It is laugh-out-loud funny.

I think Erik Mona stole Troy's neon green d20. Just a hunch.

These guys are fantastic. Funny, entertaining, but they also really know their stuff! IMO some of the episodes near the beginning are a bit of a combat slog but the show really blooms with fantastic story and RP after that. Audio quality and general production is great. I'd recommend these guys to anyone who is even slightly RPG-curious.

Also, GRATS GUYS!

By far the best actual-play podcast ever; transcends the whole idea. Great group of guys, playing the game as authentically as you can.

Caught Skid on The Drift podcast a few weeks ago. Looking forward to checking out GCP for real.

What does being an "official Paizo podcast" mean exactly?

There was that one time at PaizoCon when I got to roll the neon green d20 and this happened.

Maybe I cursed it? Maybe it got fed up and left on its own accord? But yeah, Mona probably took it. :D

Mostly, they will get full access to our extensive library of art, books, all the stuff. :)

We'll also make sure to give them coverage on our social media and site.

Really sets a higher bar for actual play podcasts, and strikes a great balance of story, gameplay, and goofin' around!

Awesome podcast. My group already finished Giantslayer and it is surprisingly entertaining to listen to another group as they go through the AP.

I've also run my group through Giantslayer. And i have just finished bingeing on GCP, to the detriment of all my regular TV. Congrats guys.

I don't understand the significance of this. Please enlighten me.
What does being an official Paizo podcast entail? What does this mean for Glass Cannon and how is this good for me? Do they get paid? Do they get better production equipment? Must they censor themselves if they might otherwise naysay a Paizo product? Will they be getting free product to test drive? What if they try out a Paizo product and really don't like it? How heavy of a hand will Paizo try to exercise on the podcast?

Clearly, it only works for Troy! You just be glad that sinister influence no longer grips you.

Glad the GCP and Paizo are teamed up officially.
While there is an abundance of D&D 5E podcasts, Pathfinder hasn't really received the same amount of love, and the GCP boys do the game proud.

"A couple of things are gonna happen..."

Excellent news. GCP is a superb show, not just for Pathfinder but as entertainment in general. They take a few episodes finding their feet and then it just works.

It's about Giantslayer but also about Pathfinder and the whole concept of finding friends to play a game with. They are a team, committed to the game, and the fear when die rolls go bad is genuine.

It's also laugh out loud funny. Just tune in.

This is great news. Congrats to both Paizo and the GCP. This podcast has the best audio quality, the team has a fun rapport and they will be great ambassadors for Paizo.

Just found them on the Giantslayer forum a month ago. Got caught up to present - 100+ episodes and 50 some cannon fodders - earlier this week.

This is an amazing podcast. Everyone who plays RPGs should listen.

Definitely could have happened when he passed out at my Scotch party at PaizoCon.

I'm not saying it _DID_ happen, only that it _could have_...

I love that the cartoon of them has the gold-plated d6's. Attention to detail.

It starts off pretty solid but by the time they get to the second book it takes off like a rocket. Great blend of humor and drama. They do a great job telling the story while letting you still know it's a game. Best actual play I've seen or heard. Highly recommended.
