Hey everyone, most of us here at Paizo are back from the Holidays. But this week will be fairly light on shows due to several of our key companions still out on vacation. Or they ran off to prepare for New Years, which would explain all of that dwarven ale that arrived in the warehouse today.

With year-end fast approaching, I enjoy taking a moment to reflect on everything that happened the prior year and put some broad strokes in place for the future. It doesn’t feel like twelve months since we did the last review, but you know the saying – “Time flies when you’re having fun!” This time around, I asked the other Organized Play team members to give their thoughts as well. You can find their musings a bit further down the page. Thurston Hillman, Starfinder Society Developer, didn’t send me one, so the next time you see him, be sure to ask about his 2019!

The Tempering: a time of travel for any kasatha reaching maturity, when the young adult seeks out new experiences, and in doing so, discovers himself. Some accept exciting internships, and others join crews to travel beyond the stars—proud, noble, traditional stuff. It was lost within this wistful self-reflection that Tahja gradually regained consciousness following his accidental dive off a skybridge, his fall unceremoniously broken by a dumpster. In his dawning lucidity, he gazed about and wondered.

I’m James Case, the newest organized play developer! I’m coming over from the editing team, where over the last couple of years, I’ve had the chance to see and get a feel for almost every type of product that Paizo puts out. Before that, I worked in scientific editing in Tokyo, where I both picked up a surprising number of useful RPG facts from research papers (the color red is made of beetles!) as well as introduced my RPG group to Pathfinder.

As the year steadily gets closer to ending, the Organized Play Team has been hard at work preparing for next year’s content. While we’re still far away from announcing exactly everything that is on the horizon for Starfinder Year 3, the team wanted to take some time to discuss an important change coming up in the Starfinder setting. Specifically, the change in leadership of the Starfinder Society—a new First Seeker!
