Raise Defense Screens!
A good GM screen can be so much more than a way to hide campaign notes and die rolls from nosy players. At its best, it can function as a handy reference tool that obviates the need for a GM to constantly consult her books. But just as importantly, the side facing the players should be something interesting for them to look at, an image that evokes the style and themes of the game and helps get them in the zone.
Stay Alert, Holy Plasma Cannons Ahead!
PaizoCon manages to land on near-perfect holiday weekends with bright and glorious sunshine making the first signs of summer at the forefront of minds in the Pacific Northwest. And as we all know, that means that convention season has begun—with local cons, big ones, and the Best 4 Days in Gaming (Gen Con) looming around the corner! I'm taking a few minutes here at the nice and quiet (and empty) Paizo offices to give those of you who didn't make it out the PaizoCon 2017 Preview Banquet last night a glimpse of some of the fun you can expect this summer (and beyond!).
A Talk About Cooperation
There are three important duties for every Pathfinder field agent: Explore, Report, and Cooperate. These tenants remain a core foundation of the Starfinder Society organization. Today, I want to talk a little bit about cooperation, specifically factions and how they fit into the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild.
Class Preview: The Soldier
As soon as we announced Starfinder, there were fans that wanted to know what kind of options there would be for the heavy-armor-wearing, magic-plasma-cannon-firing, jet-packed combatant character. While any Starfinder character can do those things if they dedicate themselves to getting the needed resources, the character who does it most easily (and gets the most class features designed to work with such actions) is the soldier. This is the description the soldier gets in the Starfinder Core Rulebook:
PaizoCon Begins in... Less Than 24 Hours!
As I scramble to get my games ready for PaizoCon, I realized that I hadn't yet prepared a blog for Adventurer's Guide for today. I suspect I'll be talking quite a bit about the book in seminars and to folks for the next few days, but in the meantime, let me just show off a few more pieces of art that I particularly like... I'll have one more post next week with a bit more to say about how to integrate Adventurer's Guide into your game if all goes according to plan as well. In the meantime... enjoy the pictures!
Sealed Heroes, Sealed Friends
The Pathfinder Society recently won the Sargava Chalice in the eponymous footrace, but few know that the trophy cup is actually a cyclops relic dating back to Ghol-Gan. In Pathfinder Society Scenario #8-21: Champion's Chalice, Part 2: Agents of the Eye, the PCs carry the chalice deep into the Kaava Lands, where the relic can grant them a unique window into the past and a fallen empire. Author Nicholas Herold takes us to a long-forgotten corner of Golarion's history in this Tier 1-5 scenario, and it's up to the PCs to avert an imminent crisis with the help of desperate allies.
