I knew why... I'm sad, but I understand the reasoning.
Thank you, though. ^_^

Quick Question
Last time I went Volunteers were able to also join the lottery for events, I heard last year they were not.
Will Volunteers be able to get into lottery events?

I joined the lottery last year, so I'm not sure where that idea came from.
Good to know... I am not sure where I heard it either, somewhere on these forums. Since I did not go last year I was not able to confirm myself.

Last year they were. All badges (except for staff) are eligible for the lottery. We do want to remind volunteers that their volunteer schedule will take precedence over anything they may get into in the lottery.

That should be a given... ;)

Don't recall it being done at PaizoCon, though, just GenCon.
If that is what he meant, then no, Paizo has never offered free hotel space for PaizoCon volunteers. The rewards have remained, for the most part, consistent from year to year.

Where do we sign up?
We are encouraging everyone that wants to run games at PaizoCon to submit events to Sara Marie. This keeps all the games in once place, allows players to find games easier, and allows us to promote the games. While the HQ isn't staffed during the middle slot (so they can participate in the convention as well), the room is still available for up to 35 tables of games.
Sara is happy to wait until the official schedule has been released to add in PFS games. So if you want to see what other events are available before offering to run a mid-day PFS game, that's fine!

Huh... I thought all it took was a can of Hamms sitting on the table. "Here you go, GM. Go get it, Tiger!"

The cash bar during the Specials seems to also work fairly well.

One is allowed to consume in the course of running, or is that more of an 'after-event' kind of thing?
We strive to provide a family friendly environment and in fact there are a good number of under age attendees so alcohol should certainly be consumed responsibly and in moderation during the scheduled game slots

With a few exceptions (i.e. pick up games run at/near the hotel bar) most folks don't drink during the day while running. For the specials or evening games where they do, I can't say I've ever see anyone get drunk. Honestly, Specials being so frequently time sensitive, most of us never get the chance to get more than 1 drink anyways.
As Bob mentioned, PaizoCon has a family friendly atmosphere and folks generally conduct themselves as responsible adults.

Last year during the special, one of the players at the table I was GMing bought me a beer. That's the full extent of alcohol consumption I believe I've ever performed myself while GMing. (Caffeine consumption, on the other hand....)
Let's be honest. Last year at BOTH specials, one of the players bought you a beer.

One of my players bought me a Rum and Coke during Serpent's Rise, it was very kind of them. That whole table was wonderful, actually, the role playing was on-point!
