Would you increase a dragons CR for leadershp as you increase its age?

I'm vaguely looking for a dragon and I noticed in leadership it say's . . . A young dragon‘s effective cohort level equals its CR + 8.

Now if you ignore the other text saying a dragon serving as a cohort is always young would you increase the cohort modifer with higher age categories? That is would you go . . .

Young Silver Dragon 10 + 8 = 18
Adult Silver Dragon 14 + 8 = 22
Ancient Silver Dragon 19 + 8 = 27

or would you increase the cohort modifier as higher level dragons are increasingly more powerful? For example . . .

Young Silver Dragon 10 + 8 = 18
Adult Silver Dragon 14 + 10 = 24
Ancient Silver Dragon 19 + 12 = 29

Assuming obviously you allowed leadership and a dragon companion.

Dragons don’t fit the CR system very well. I’d start with the worst option and see how that feels in actual play. Better to give than take away when doing something new like that.

Monstrous cohorts tend to be horribly underpowered, and CR+8 appears to be worst case scenario on the table, so i would scale directly off CR. Also, 19+12 isn’t 29. Also, how are you getting cohorts with effective level over 20?

Your right that's what I get for posting when tired, the 31 isn't effective level its the leadership score necessary to recruit a CR 19 dragon. You can't do it because max cohort level is 17 but there's no silver dragon CR 17 to use as an example and I wanted a third one.
