Hello everybody!
I need you to find a solution to a funny problem.
Our player group found a (custom by GM!) magical object whose form depends on the observer and the shape become fixed when the first person handle it. The item was originally designed to be specific for one member of our group but, unfortunately, it's another player that took it first, causing the item getting an unwanted shape, making it perfectly ununsable!
Besides the (very) funny moment, I would like to avoid the frustration of the player designed to be the holder of this item, because I think it's a one on a million perfect loot.
Do you have a -legit (understand : except begging on the GM) - mean to "reshape" the object or make it back to it's original design?
Thanks for helping ;)
PS : Yes, our GM is a troll.

Nothing To See Here |

It depends on what the object is. If it's a weapon, a shifting rune may be able to force it into the shape you want. If your GM is willing to work with you a bit, perhaps you could find a blacksmith or other crafter who could reforge it while maintaining the functionality of it or you could try to dispel the shape lock without completely disenchanting the item.

It is a custom homebrew item. How it behaves is entirely up to the GM.
The GM could:
* Allow a magical tradition skill check (like Arcana) to revert the object to its malleable state.
* Create a custom spell that will revert the object to its malleable state.
* Modify the item such that if it is exposed to the full moon while not being observed by any creature of tiny size or larger that it reverts.
* Allow a spell like Shape Wood to change the shape of the object once.
* Create an alchemical elixir or oil that when poured over the item it reverts to a malleable state.
But there is no way for you as a player to insist on any of those.

No game does. But since unlike PF1 players can't minmax their numbers very much in PF2, it becomes a lot more obvious how a GM who likes to jack up the numbers as though things are a competition makes the game unfun.

nulltread: Can we get some way to be able to restore this cool item so that it can be used the way that it is supposed to?
GM: Sure. Cast both Dispel Magic and Shape Wood within a minute of each other and make two counteract checks with the item using its full item level for its counteract level. Success will let it shift for the rest of the day. If you succeed on that every day for a consecutive week, then the change will be permanent.
Me: That is a lot of words to use when what you really mean is 'no'.

Something akin to Breithauptclan's mock suggestion, but toned down.
Successful dispel magic counteract check, followed by changing the shape manually or with another spell.
If the GM weren't a troll, I'd probably suggest having it once per day change shape depending on the first person to invest it.
