...Does this mean we can finally consider THE VOID official name of Negative Energy Plane?

Because I seriously prefer that as the official name of negative energy plane rather than as nickname xD Negative Energy Plane just sounds so... Academic xD the VOID is fun to say aloud

I am also hoping Plane of Air, Plane of Earth, etc. get in setting names. The "Plane of" naming convention does get the idea across, but it doesn't feel like that is what they would be called in setting.

Liberty's Edge

For the life of me, I don't understand why the term "plane" was used in the first place. They are by every definition and measure better described as alternate or parallel dimensions.

The Fire, Earth, Death, Life, etc Dimension is much more evocative and stronger a term than "Plane of X" IMO.

I don't think the planes were designed to be parallel to each other or were meant to occupy the same space (just under a different perceptive dimension); they are completely different areas in space and occupy the same time frame as the other planes, and don't technically operate under different dimensions of existence.

I'm pretty sure that putting actual names to them would make more sense than calling them something else, because it has narrative consequences for doing so, with dimension being just one of many examples. After all, if these areas are meant to be distinct locations amongst the relative universe, it would make sense that they are given distinct names to categorize what areas they encompass.

It depends on how Paizo wants to do their naming convention for the "planes"; I suspect we'll get some very original names with how they are naming existing content in the Remaster, and probably far less references to real world things like "Inferno."

The concept of planes of existence is very old and dates back thousands of years, before the mathematical concept of spatial dimensions was even around.

I do have to agree though that "Negative Energy Plane" is a mouthful. And calling them dimensions wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think paizo is overall okay with using real life mythology terms though hmm
