Golem crafter monk

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

Using the golem crafter dedication as a monk, how does the accursed clay fist interact with monk stances?

The wording of the feat is different from other "fist" attacks like the orc. So does the damage die of your monk stance go up to a d8?

Golem crafter:
"Special: The damage die for your clay fist is 1d8, and it loses the agile and finesse traits of a typical fist."

Orc iron fist:
"Your fist unarmed attacks no longer have the nonlethal trait and gain the shove weapon trait."

I'd say it doesn't interact at all. The feat isn't modifying your fist unarmed attack, it is giving you a new type of unarmed attack, a clay fist attack.

Well iron fist doesn't interact with your stances either because it says specifically "fist" attack. I probably should have put in the whole golem feat text.

"You have replaced one of your forearms with one made of clay and infused with cursed arcane magic. When you make an unarmed Strike with your clay fist and hit, your target takes a –2 status penalty to saving throws against curse effects for 1 hour.

Special The damage die for your clay fist is 1d8, and it loses the agile and finesse traits of a typical fist."

Liberty's Edge

As they said, it doesn't interact with Stances at all as it, like the Stances provide you with DIFFERENT Unarmed Attacks that are NOT the Fist.

Also, the wording on Clay Fist is extremely shaky and inconsistent with how those things are worded basically everywhere else. This is something published in an AP and generally speaking the Rules, Options, Features, Spells, Archetypes, Weapons, and basically everything EXCEPT the Adventure itself that is ever published in an AP usually tend to be... how do I say this kindly... less well edited, balanced, and not in line with either the wording for consistency with the rest of the rules or in some cases just plain sloppy compared to the stuff pushed out in actual rulebooks.

In short, the Feat is poorly worded and should have been fixed already via errata but EC will almost certainly never see a physical reprinting so they have very little ROI to actually do so so this along with another half dozen things pushed out with EC will probably just always be a bit janky.

I figured as much. But since the clay fist just said "unarmed attack" with no more adjectives, it caused confusion. Especially since it shares similar wording to diamond fist and effortless reach.

I already knew that Iron fist did not work because it said "fist attack"

Thanks for the help. Just out of curiosity, aside from the lvl 18 monk feat, diamond fist, is there any way to increase stance damage die?

Not to my knowledge. There are options to increase the damage die of your Fist, but like others have said your stances give you different attacks.
