Scroll Scholar and Evangelist

Do these two Cleric Archetypes stack

Now usually I find these questions pretty cut and dry, but in this instance I have doubts.

Scroll Scholar

At 1st level, a scroll scholar chooses one Knowledge skill. This becomes a class skill if it is not already one. The scroll scholar adds half her class level to all Knowledge checks of this type (minimum 1).

At 5th level and every five levels thereafter, a scroll scholar chooses 1 additional Knowledge skill to receive this bonus.

This ability replaces one of the 1st-level granted powers from her domains—the character gets to choose which of her two 1st-level granted powers it replaces.

Effects the powers, whereas the Evangelist Single-Minded effects the Domain. I am not sure if there is enough of a distinction for them to be counted as separate things

The actual class feature being altered is "Domains" in both cases, so these archetypes shouldn't mix.

Technically no… they don't stack… the Evangelist altering the domain patent class feature prevents you from taking an archetype that altera any of the domain powers subfeature… but a generous DM may still allow it… the FAQ that clarified the archetype stacking rules even says so.

The Exchange

My PFS evangelist (the one I've mentioned in your other Evangelist thread) was, in fact, an Evangelist/Scroll Scholar. None of my GMs ever had a problem with it.

However, once the FAQ came out I stopped playing the character. Mostly because I had a lot of other fun concepts I was playing but also because it seems that both of them alter your available 1st-level domain powers.

Though not in such a way that one blocks the other, or gives the other "something for nothing," or even additional options. Both of them are "you lose this subfeature." In a home game I absolutely would allow them to stack. Even in PFS it's just grey enough that I wouldn't boot a player from my table with the combo. But I wouldn't try it as a player.

As you probably suspect, both archetypes were published before Paizo standardized on "this replaces feature X" and "this alters feature Y" language in the archetypes.
