Option 1 also opens up the Rage Prophet prC if you take the Moment of Clarity Rage power… which will give you more spell progression, the ability to cast your oracle spells while raging, and more…

Option 2 is good if your party lacks a tanky character, but beyond that its kinda lackluster…

Option 3 offers some nice utility with fear, and as a barbarian, you shouldn’t have any issues intimidating on every round…

Personally I’d go with 1 or 3… 1 can be REALLY good if you go Rage prophet though…

Shadow Lodge

Option 4: One level dip into Spiritualist with the Dedication Phantom to shore up your mental defenses:

  • +2 Base Will Save
  • +2 bonus to Will Saves from the Iron Will feat your phantom provides
  • +4 bonus to Will Saves against mind-effecting powers from the Shared Consciousness class feature, and
  • A once per day ability to shunt the effects of a failed 'mind-affecting' Will Save onto your phantom.
Having access to the Spiritualist's spell list (for wands and the like) ain't horrible either...

I'm playing a Primalist Bloodrager (so, a spell-casting barbarian) and I have three 1-level dips. They're all super useful.

1. Oracle (Dual-Cursed, but you can pick something else). I primarily did this for flavour when my character was resurrected, but the Fatigue immunity is super useful. I also got a small boost to will saves, a couple of handy utility spells and the Misfortune Revelation from the Dual-Cursed archetype, which is really good. I took this dip at level 6 (when I was resurrected), but didn't get the fatigue immunity till level 9. If you want Fatigue immunity now then you'll need 2 levels, but if you're happy to wait till level 9 then you really don't need more than a 1 level dip. One note with this though, I've made a concerted effort not to abuse the fatigue immunity. I haven't felt the need to use 1/rage powers every round, but if I need to occasionally use them more than once per encounter I'll usually spend 1 round out of rage. Your GM may not care as much, but if you have a GM who thinks rage-cycling is cheesy then this can help. I have still found the ability to ignore the 8-rounds of fatigue to be very useful in a pinch.

2. Brawler. This one was because I wanted to take Combat Expertise but didn't have 13 INT, and also because I thought my giant hulking Half-Orc should be able to punch people reliably. Honestly though, Martial Flexibility plus the Strength Surge rage power is basically an "I Win" button for 1 combat maneuver per encounter.

3. Fighter (Unbreakable). Improved Stalwart with Combat Expertise is basically as good as it sounds. This is a great way to get that online earlier.

All of them are great. If I were you I'd be inclined to take two 1-level dips rather than one 2-level dip, because I think there's more you can get out of some of these with just 1 level.

if your game is planned to go up to the higher levels id second the bloodrager (Primalist if you can get it) with the draconic bloodline. the fact that form of the dragon II give size bonus that stack with your rage get insanely good.

at level 20 when you rage (mightily) you get +8 to str and con from the rage and +4 to nat armor from the bloodlie, the dragon form would increase the str by 6 and the con by 4(zise bonus) and give +6 to nat ac (idk if stack with the normal draconic bloodline. ask gm. so ether +6 or +10 nat ac). the fly speed you have would go up to 90(good) -120 if you're hasted. also since you can rage cycle from level 17+ you can use the breath attack of the form of the dragon each round of rage (is less then your normal 2/day breath, but good to down mooks while flying or just take down a strong berrior with repeated use)

I would argue that the best anti-fatigue for Barbarians or Bloodragers is getting the Flawed Scarlet and Green Cobochon and getting the rage power Internal Fortitude at level 8.

With that Ioun Stone, anytime you would become fatigued makes you sickened instead, and now you can Rage Cycle all you want. The Internal Fortitude makes you immune to the Sickened and Nauseated Conditions, so as soon as you re-enter rage, you're no longer Sickened. Now you don't have to dip at all and it only costs you a Rage Power and 8,000gp.

As an added bonus to this combo, you're now immune to Nauseate whenever you rage. And! You get Endurance for free with that Ioun Stone, now you can sleep in Light or Medium armor, and you get a bunch of +4 bonuses to save on various Con and Fort checks.

Technically, you don't even need to take Internal Fortitude to make the Rage Cycling work, but being sickened sucks.
