Tomorrow! We shall burn our enemies to the ground!! We shall crush them, drown them, pull the very air from their lungs!!!!

*clears throat*

Sorry. I'm not sure what came over me.

I'm so excited! I'm actually thinking of running through some random encounters or adventures on my own, just to test it in actual play. Usually I'm content to read and examine the documents, coming up with ideas and feedback from there. But the notion of them developing this class from 4 different perspectives has me interested.
----

Also, in reference to alternative damage for Fire, what about Heat? I mean, we have Cold, as opposed to say Frost/Ice damage. And Fire produces heat, but isn't necessarily the only source of it. So Heat can be another damage type in general and a second option for Fire.

Also had the idea of Kineticist not just being about producing their Element, but controlling it. What I mean is like, if faced with say a Fire Elemental, a Kineticist, in theory, could siphon and control the energy that makes up their body to deal damage, by basically extinguishing them. That way, they aren't just left with their hands tied behind their back when faced with Elementals. This doesn't really solve the issue of those creatures with immunities that aren't made of Elemental material.

But those are just come ideas. A GAME ID-!
*killed by a Wood Elemental*

EDIT: Could theoretically probably nullify a creatures immunities or resistances some how. Or produce an element so intense it just bypasses it.

One thing I noticed is that the Forest Dragon which is based on the wood element already has powers to drain moisture from enemies, doing negative damage. Maybe kineticist will get a similar power?

This whole thing is why I mentioned Draining infusions already being a thing in the previous editions and being a wasted opportunity if they didn't port it over somehow.

Paizo usually leaves the office around 5pm PST, so sometime before then tomorrow.

12:00 pm PDT is typically when these things go live.

It’s a pretty simple Google to search “12pm PST in [whatever your timezone is].”

One could also say 'around x hours from this Post on' and spare the people googling it - in the other Hand Ther would then be again people confused over that

At my Phone at Work I have wonky Connection and so I just have to wait for the mystery hour

Seems to be in a bit more than 12 hours from this post.

The Rules Lawyer has said in the description of his stream set for tomorrow (and I can confirm, as I've received the same info) that the playtest is set to go live around 10:30 PDT/1:30 EDT. Might be a little late, given Paizo's systems. But I'd say to look out for the blog post right around then.

Oh nice, that is a bit earlier than last times.

Thankfully, I have no meetings this afternoon. REALLY looking forward to seeing where PF2 kineticist is building towards.

I'm hoping for something that's fairly simple, but elegant, at least at the base. From there, I'd like it to do the champion thing of "choose your own complexity".

My hopes are pretty basic.

1.) I want to shoot/hit/blast/Strike/etc with elemental power all day erryday.

2.) I'd like to be able to drift that somehow (metamagic-or-similar, etc.) and expand via feats.

3.) Some risk-reward mechanic.

4.) Maybe a breakfast sandwich. I'm hungry.

Aside from 4, I'm not too committed on any particular mechanic or implementation. Just here for the vibes.

Pretty much my general expectation as well ^^. My favourite elemental variants atm are ice and lightning/electricity. Maybe earth, gotta love you some good 'ol rocks.

As long as I can use those whenever I want within reason, the way I use them is fun and I don't feel like I'm significantly worse than normal in those niches, I'm game for whatever.

Way too late for this, but this is a playtest I wish they put the multiclass archetype in to try out also

While I can understand that, it makes sense that they don't or at least didn't up until now. Playtests are about testing a class specifically, not how other classes like their MC archetype. It would just dilute the feedback unnecessarily.

Now I run the risk of liking this class and wanting to use it instead of Thaumaturge... That IF my GM allowed to use it in his campaign...

For those without twitter, the playtest is officially coming out at 11 AM Pacific, sin in about 3 1/2 hours.

Paizo tweeted out, confirming the Playtest is gonna be released at 11 AM PDT/2 PM EDT. So just add 30 minutes to what Rules Lawyer and I said before!

Cannot wait to see how they pulled this new class chassis off!

When they get the playtest, everyone should remember that all playtests start with the most conservative version they feel comfortable with, and that it will loosen up later.(See Psychic)
I can't wait!!

I can't wait!!

It is more accurate to say that they are doing the unusual parts and include some of the "normal" parts for functionality. The latter particularly in the feat section.

They are checking to see how the playerbase reacts to the more out-there and new parts, as those are the ones that will cause the most friction. Playing everything conservatively will not accomplish that goal.

What happened with the psychic playtest that the most "out-there" thing - i.e. essentially free focus spells for days - left no real room to go upwards without increasing the already crippling downsides to level no one would enjoy. Essentially, people didn't like this particular wild idea, so that got changed.

Yeah, it's easy to assume that mainstay consistent feat support and the like will be included in the full release, but the playtest is really meant to test out how the new parts function, how it's balanced and what the perceived "fun factor" feels like to a variety of players and levels. The more feedback on the new stuff, the better.

And also important is to voice how you feel about the mechanics, but not necessarily offer a solution to said problem. Oftentimes the real solution of the problem lies elsewhere, but having a few dozen people repeat a quickly agreed-upon "fix" to a perceived problem can bury the lead for the designers on what they should really be looking at.

Everything from common issues, or any off-vibes to the class, let them be known! And for the love of God, DO THOSE SURVEYS!

Ohhh, good point! I've been doing a little too much of that several times. Ok, vibe check it is :D

Edit: Also, less than 2 hours remain. *Final Countdown starts playing in the background*

Onkonk wrote:

Reminds me of the recently introduced Admiral Green Bull/Ryokyugyu/Aramaki in One Piece.

Essentially:
He has the Forest Forest Fruit (Mori Mori no Mi) plant logia, he can make vines from his fingertips and use those to impale people and drain them of their moisture/nutrients/life force/whatever the heck... his victims look like shriveled up mummies after the fact and need IV hydration in order to recover.
So that gives me some ideas/hopes/a character concept to make with the full version of the class!

Do we have an actual ETA?

You mean it may burn down from the overload? Perhaps it will be crushed under the weigh of overwhelming expectations? The flood of fans that will be on this site is likely to drown it; or, dare I say, sufficate it from the lack of breathing room most will give this playtest?

...I'll see myself out.

I believe it's on the Pathfinder Playtest page ... though it seems to be down right now. If not there then I'm positive there will be a blog post about it before too long.
