I agree that skin color doesn't mean much (except maybe peculiar cases, think about camouflaging in a certain environment). But what about other physical characteristics? I suppose that having wings is an interesting categorization for a strix if you compare it to a dwarf, for example. Both directly and indirectly, as being able to fly surely had a big impact on how strix culture developed.
A similar argument could be for a big and strong ancestry like orcs with their natural tenacity, or for the smaller gnomes, whose curiosity and connection to magic aren't simply a cultural thing.

I think that ruling out the categorization of a character based on its physical traits (which, in turn, depend at least in part on its ancestry) is something that can enrich the game, not spoil it. You may have a different opinion, of course, and waive out the physical part as uninteresting and unimportant.

I'm talking to EVERYONE who is engaging with this nonsense so let me be crystal clear. You know better and despite your steadfast beliefs that what you're doing is right or just it is just adding more poison to the well, FFS, every time there is an extended holiday weekend this kind of thing happens and I just don't understand why you can't respect the dozens of times you've been warned, moderated, and told to cut it out. I repeat: The staff has made it abundantly clear that this is not the place to have these arguments so please, just stop. This is a community that exists to discuss the shared interest and love for games and is explicitly NOT a town square or soapbox to hurl insults at each other. Your efforts, replies, bickering, rudeness, leaping to conclusions, and insistence on talking about OVERTLY charged political/culture war topics are not desired nor does it do ANYTHING to promote a welcoming community at all, you KNOW the appropriate course of action is to flag it and move on instead of engaging.

You're wasting not only your own time and energy but also actively draining the resources and taxing the time and mental energy of the staff (not to mention yourselves) and community alike so please, PLEASE, just knock it off already. I know for a FACT that almost every one of you are fully formed adults capable of restraint but yet many of you insist on acting like attention-starved children screaming out for even an ounce of validation. If your hobby of being incessant attention-seeking social-issue trolls and/or crusaders to lash out at one another is more important than the game then I beg of you, make yourself scarce, your continued presence is not welcome no matter how justified you feel in attacking each other.

I fully expect this thread to be closed, and rightfully so, much like the dozens of other threads that have devolved into this madness over the last year. This is clearly just my perspective, so take it for what it might be worth to you, but I beg of you to try to understand what I'm saying as I too have learned some hard lessons in this time, treating each other this way is not constructive or healthy in any way for either the community or for your own well being.

1) take your own advice.

2) this has been a thing for years sadly, where people espouse horribleness over the weekends nd holidays (moreso, it still happens during the week), and “don’t engage, ignore and the moderators will take care of it” just doesn’t work.

It assumes the moderators will get to it in a timely fashion. This has not always been the case, with hateful posts and threads remaining open for days, weeks, or never closed or moderated at all.

People will always engage, either to agree or disagree, and if no one speaks up, then you develop a hateful clique that builds off it self that anyone looking in just sees people being hateful and nothing being done, that that behavior is accepted and thus, not a welcoming place for the viewer.

You don’t have a moral high ground for claiming both sides are bad when the sides are “say something horrible” and “call out that person for saying something horrible”, notice what it takes to cause the other to emerge?

You also have no mora grounds to shame people for having an emotional response to having their humanity questioned.

“Ignore the bullies and they’ll go for others” is bunk, always has been. Always will.

Removed a myriad of posts and quotes for baiting, off topic, and hate speech. This thread will remain locked.
