Crafting / hours per day while adventuring

Rules Questions

Hi everyone :)

Tomorrow night we are starting our first Pathfinder 1e game, and i have decided that I will play a Dwarf Cleric of Torag, currently working in the forge in Sandpoint.

I was reading up on all the rules, but especially the crafting rules.
I figure that we'll be out adventuring in no time, so i was trying to find the info for the crafting while adventuring. I am not going to craft for money, but rather while meditating to Torag in the morning and evenings. (if possible)

I realize the rules of crafting mention 'per week'. How many hours per day would i have to craft in order to respect that 'week'? is it 8 hours? (which would not be possible while adventuring, but 4 might be)

thanks!

Assuming you were making an item, yes the progress assumes that you are spending 8hr per day, 5 days per week. But it sounds like what you are looking for is more a Deific Obedience, of which Torag's basically fits for the roleplay you're looking for.

Torag, Obedience wrote:
After reciting a traditional prayer to Torag, either work at a forge or strike a small replica of an anvil or a sizable flat stone with a hammer for at least 10 minutes. If the sound of your hammer draws a creature near, encourage it to join in your worship of the Father of Creation. If hostilities become inevitable, leap into the fray with a battle shout in praise of Torag. Perform some small act toward maintaining your weapon, such as sharpening or polishing it, as you conclude your obedience with another prayer to Torag’s might and wisdom. Alternatively, if you have created something through this effort, grant it to the next person you meet who strikes you as fair and honorable. Gain a +1 sacred bonus on all attack rolls made with warhammers.

Bold added by me for emphasis.

From the D20pfsrd.com

The caster can work for up to 8 hours each day. He cannot rush the process by working longer each day, but the days need not be consecutive, and the caster can use the rest of his time as he sees fit. If the caster is out adventuring, he can devote 4 hours each day to item creation, although he nets only 2 hours’ worth of work. This time is not spent in one continuous period, but rather during lunch, morning preparation, and during watches at night. If time is dedicated to creation, it must be spent in uninterrupted 4-hour blocks. This work is generally done in a controlled environment, where distractions are at a minimum, such as a laboratory or shrine. Work that is performed in a distracting or dangerous environment nets only half the amount of progress (just as with the adventuring caster).

don't confuse people.

the op talked about mundane item crafting with the crafting skill (which uses weeks progression) it also cost 1/3 of the base price of the item to make.

you are bringing in magical item crafting which is a whole different thing (and uses crafting per day or hour). it also cost 1/3 of the base price of the item to make. which cost 1/2 of the base price to craft.

you can tell as it talk about 'caster' and a work at a 'laboratory or shrine' something must blacksmiths don't really go to in their line of work.
