Ninja Prestige classes

Looking for suggestions on how to build a good wandering ninja type for later levels. Character is currently a lvl 3 ninja, and I'm trying to find an appropriate Prestige class. Inspiration for the character was Jiraiya from Naruto, and he is the only melee type in his party so I would like to keep that as my focus.

Stick with ninja until level 10. You will want to pick up "Invisible Blade". After that, I have no idea.

4 levels weapon master fighter, some gloves of dueling, and Advanced Weapon Training (choosing Warrior Spirit) is a go-to for me on most 3/4 martials.

What weapon(s) you utilizing?

Edit: prestige classes are mostly overrated, that’s why I offered a simple multi-class instead

What does "wandering ninja" mean to you? Good in every terrain? Can travel vast distances in short time? Is familiar with many cultures? Keeps a low profile everywhere?

I am not familiar with Naruto - but I guess it would help to figure out what exactly about Jiraiya you find inspiring.

Switching to a prestige class as soon as possible was an important thing back in DnD 3E, as far as I know. Pathfinder's base classes got boosted, so you can be fine without ever considering a prestige class. In fact, it's usually easier to be powerful without a prestige class.

If you want a shortcut to power, consider slayer for your remaining levels. The flavor is similar, but the class is mechanically stronger in most aspects: A d10 HD, full BAB and an easy-to-use attack booster. Just be careful to not neglect your defenses. Even with many slayer levels, you can call your character a ninja and act like one.

I have to agree with SheepishEidolon that the Pathfinder prestige classes are highly overrated. For the most part you are a lot better off sticking with the normal classes unless there is something specific you want out of a particular prestige class. In a lot of cases, they are actually less powerful than normal classes. This is especially true for spell casters or other classes with a lot of level dependent class features.

Jiraiya was one of the 4 most powerful ninja in the village at one time. Not only capable of basically travelling anywhere and blending in, he also successfully trained several other powerful ninja.

I wish to build a ninja who goes anywhere, in any terrain, in search of his targets. Serious case of wanderlust, suppressed only by his sense of duty to the village with this character. My character is a Kitsune, if that helps any.

So, horizon walker. That's the prestige clad you want. Take Astral Plane as your 1st favored terrain abs the Dimensional Savant line of feats
